Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Mutembo Nchito and his business partner Fred M’membe who is Post Newspaper proprietor must pay back the K38 billion owed Development Bank of Zambia (DBZ) because it was obtained through fraudulent misrepresentaion, with no intentions or ability of paying back, political activist Dante Saunders has said.

It was for this reason, Saunders said that Zambians had petitioned parliament and the Minister of finance to place on permanent record the demand for the money to be repaid because it was obtained irregulary.

Saunders said it was sad that Parliament, which had set its own precedence on debating matters that were before the court of law had now decided to play politics of double standards by refusing to order Nchito and M’membe to immediately begins paying back the DBZ money.

[pullquote]We shall never see Fred M’membe and Mutembo Nchito pay back that money under this government. You know how corrupt the PF has become and the two are taking advantage of it[/pullquote]

Saunders said it was surprising that Parliament which had found it prudent to debate the removal of former president Rupiah Banda’s immunity, even when the matter was in court, has refused to debate the DBZ loan scandal on grounds that discussing the matter would be sub judice.

Saunders told the Daily Nation that while he was convinced that Nchito and M’membe were using the current government to get away with public money they had “borrowed” without the intention of paying back, but that Zambians would never rest until the two settled the debt they had fraudulenttly obtained from DBZ.

Saunder said for as long as the PF was in government, Nchito and M’membe would never pay back the loan because they were of the beliefe that they were above the law and immune to any form of prosecution.

[pullquote]Look at how the judiciary has been battered by these two and our only hope is that when we get a change of government, we are going to have that money back[/pullquote]

He however was hopeful that Zambians would be able to reclaim their stolen money once the PF government was voted out of power in the 2016 general elections.

Saunders said as one of the people who had petitioned Speaker of the National Assembly Patrick Matibini to have Nchito and M’membe ordered to settle the K38 billion the two had obtained by frudulent misrepresentation, he was of the conviction that Zambians should continue pressing and demanding for their money.

“We shall never see Fred M’membe and Mutembo Nchito pay back that money under this government. You know how corrupt the PF has become and the two are taking advantage of it. Apart from that, you should know that the two people are very close to the presidency and they appear to have all the power to abuse any institution. Look at how the judiciary has been battered by these two and our only hope is that when we get a change of government, we are going to have that money back.

So they must not think they they will get away with it because we shall recover the people’s money,” Saunders said. Saunders said the petitioners would embark on sensitising the people across the country about how some people were abusing government to protect themselves from the crimes they had committed against the nation by borrowing without the intention of paying back

  1. Saunders you are very right. they ought to pay back. Hope it not because this pf didn’t give u some job. some of you ballies are very lazy. you jst want free things. set up some business and let politics come as a by the way and not the other way round. u will die with chinkonko

    • Folks
The debt has gone up. It now stands at 120billion. They borrowed more again when Sata came to power. Thats the money Membe used to buy truck and farms and farm animals. Nchinto is busy buying property in London.

Any way they will pay it back in full. No if no but. Sata himself will make them pay or else he will lock them up because by then they will have no public support. This will happen when his support dwindles. So to win back the people he will start targeting Membe and his cohort to show that he is now listening to the people.

Membe and his cohort are so stupid to trust Sata, the snake whole heartedly. He will change and strike them one by one. Lets wait and see.

Sata has no permanent friends when it comes to political populism. Remember what he did to KK.?

    • Opposition United Party for National Development President Hakainde Hichilema says there is a serious disjoint between decisions made by the Supreme Court and High Court threatening the country’s judicial integrity.
Hichilema was commenting on the notable pattern where the Supreme Court has been consistently nullifying opposition Members of Parliament’s seats after the High Court had upheld them.
He said even the Patriotic Front victory in the 2011 elections would be nullified if the standards applied on the opposition were used.
“There is a serious disjoint between the decisions made by the Supreme Court and the High Court there is a well founded suspicion that the PF through the Supreme Court is manipulating the outcome of the election petitioned against the opposition,” he said…

  2. For as long as we have Sata, Matibini, Chibesakunda, Nchito and Malila in their current positions, there will never be equity in the justice system. Mmembe’s game plan is there to see, Zambians need to correct the situation in 2016. This evil cartel must cease and put in abyss for good.

  3. Saunders mus get a life. RB hated these fellas to the core and he could not manage to get the so called money despite the full machinery behind him. Just go back to the land and farm sweet potatoes mudala

  4. Sata is not immortal. Every day that passes by, means Zambia gets close to nailing these crooks to have them pay the money back. Both Mmembe and Nchito know very well that you can only buy time as far as you can go.

The proxy in ( Kabimba) whom they are trying to impose onto the Zambian people to be the next president will not be the tenant of Nkwazi House. He has no stamina to lead this nation and no support within his Senior PF Party ranks, apart from (Scott), the rolling-ball. And the PF cadres don’t want him too.

  5. Sata is a dictator, pure and simple. If he really wanted these chaps to walk away Scott-Free, he would have allowed it to happen by now. However, he is against it and very uneasy about it.

This is what has made Mmembe continue with the praises on Sata week-in and week-out, hoping that one day Sata will just pronounce a DECREE to have the funds written off as Bad-Debt.

No doubt, had RB won the election, he was going to nail these chaps. He did not want to be seen to the world that he was shutting down the Private Press, which is owned by the very business empire owned by Mmembe.

  6. We must all remember that The Post was struggling to pay workers for a good 3 years.

Had RB forced Mmembe to pay the loans, it could have lead to the closure of The Post. Mmembe was to going cry to the International Community as foul play – accusing RB for suppressing Freedom-Of-Speech.

So this is the reason why Mmembe decided to support Sata, whom he had called a Crook, Thief, Shame, Disgrace, Satanic and the list goes on for many years. It was all about DBZ Loans.

  7. Its really disingenuous for chaps like saunders ( sondashi) and his ilk i.e. father bwalya, mlongoti and mpombo to be saying this government this, this government that. you mean to tell me you did not know what calibre of an individual sata was when you were strenuously campaigning for him? please do not take us for *****s,,,,, well maybe we are. sorry saunders

  8. this saunders sounds a very very very frustrated hungry little thing. his case should ve been about debt repayment, why drag pf in a debt the two fellows obtained under mmd. Pf pliz give saunders a job as intercity gabbage collection manager, noise ll stop.

  9. But how did they get this loan. We should punish the people who approved the loan without proper checks. Banks check ability to service loans before releasing any monies. Now it not possible to do anything , as a debt is not a criminal offence anywhere in the world. The least the bank can do is declare them bankrupt ,like Detroit City
