PF is taking Zambians for granted – Chipimo

Share

National Restoration party (NAREP) president Elias Chipimo Junior has charged that the Patriotic Front government is taking the Zambian people for granted with regards the new constitution.

Mr Chipimo said it is depressing for the Patriotic Front government to keep the Zambian people in a state of uncertainty over the new constitution.

Mr Chipimo told QFM News that Justice Minister Wynter Kabimba should realize the urgency and importance of the country having a new constitution.

He said there is need for Mr. Kabimba to stop trotting around the globe on party programmes, sit and digest the great expenditure so far on the constitution making process.

Mr. Chipimo has accused the PF government of giving the Zambian people a negative attitude on constitution.

He said the PF government is unfairly treating the Zambian people who entrusted them to deliver a people driven constitution.

Mr Chipimo added that NAREP is on record having told Zambians that it is not possible for the Patriotic Front to deliver a constitution that will stand a taste of time.

Mr. Chipimo has appealed to the PF government to desist from frustrating Zambians but instead instill hope in the people by delivering on their promises.

  1. This one never goes into the deep sea against Sata, he always just stands on the off shore scared to be locked up or spend time in prison.

  2. Each administration that has come uses the constitution as a campaign tool only to “about turn” once voted into power. What is it that successive governments fear about having a good constitution? Is it because:

    (i) it will strengthen institutions and systems of governance…and take away the power of individuals;
    (ii) it will take away from our leaders the “benevolence” attributed to them by a gullible people when they use taxpayers money as though it is their own personal money to give so-called donations to the poor. Why call them “donations” when it is the taxpayer actually making the payment??;
    (iii) it will provide for genuine separation of power among the 3 wings of government so that the president and ruling party will no longer control courts and manipulate MPs??

    • Every Govt that comes or goes always takes God’s people for granted. This is the intricacy of politicking, entice and sweet-talk the electorate before elections then dump and ignore them after elections. This is the the common trait and strategy of every politician world over. When Mr. Chipimo came on the political scene most of us wished him well as a clean man to begin fresh and new politics. Soon it got to his head and began to take original NAREP Members for granted and most of them have since abandoned him and his party, except his Veep Mr. Maboshe whatever the two have in common, hopefully not taking each other for granted yet.

  3. Our government should not fear to have a good constitution. If the people want a good constitution then the people will work with the government to make it implementable…as long as the political leadership and public service executives subject themselves to the dictates of the new dispensation.

    There is nothing to fear from the people if a government is prepared to work with the people…not partisan cadres…but all the people, opposition, civil society and individuals. Democracy empowers people while dictatorship disempowers them.

  4. What can u advise Sata and PF which they can follow or adapt? u went with SATA to Brazil and what u discussed with him, what has he implemented?

    Zero….

  5. AND COME 2016, YOU WILL START SCREAMINGN PAMAFI PAMAFI. IFYABUPUBAFYE. WE ARE JUST COWARDS THAT IS WHY THESE CROOKS HAVE TAKEN ADVANTAGE BECAUSE THEY KNOW, NO ONE IS READY TO GO TO OUR DIRTY CELLS OVER THE CONSTITUTION. WE SHALL SEE WHAT LIE THEY WILL SHALL USE APART FROM RIGGGING THE ELECTIONS AND CAUSE CHAOS.

  6. He is right but doubt that if he were to come into power he would do any different. The intricacies of politics-nicely put. I like!

  7. Once elected into office the ruling party only has two goals: consolidation of power and how to retire wealthy through crookedness. To talk about a new constitution implies eroding this power and minimizes their ways to make money through corruption. Also blame it on low information voters who do not hold politicians accountable. How do you explain a public that still votes for the same party during the numerous bye-elections, a party that lied to them? A constitution will never happen until we have a new generation of leaders that will be in government for public service and not to line their pockets. I.e. those politicians that will not fear a different in-coming government that it may probe them for their corrupt activities.
