TRANSPARENCY International Zambia (TIZ) has appealed to Government to support the printing of more draft Constitution copies.
TIZ executive director Goodwell Lungu said in Lusaka that TIZ fully supported the position taken by the technical committee to print many copies and hand the document to both the public and the Republican President.
Mr Lungu said, in response to a press query, that it was confusing that up to now it was not clear how many copies of the draft Constitution would be printed and released despite the deadline of December 31, 2013 having drawn near.
“It is very confusing to us that up to now we do not know how many copies of the draft Constitution will be released as of a few days ago the technical committee was still asking for support from the Government to print more copies of the document,” Mr Lungu said.
He further called on Government to clearly state the way forward after the draft constitution is released on December 31.
“We demand as TIZ that the road map should be clearly stated since its not part of the terms of reference for the Technical committee to determine but falls under the governments mandate,” he said.
He added that it had always been TIZs long held view that the constitution making process should be completed as soon as possible and avoid both dragging and wasting more time and public resources.
And speaking in an interview, Young Leaders Initiative (YALI) executive Director Andrew Ntewewe said Zambians were anxious to receive the new Constitution and appealed to Government to quicken the process.
“The Zambians should not be taken for granted and as civil society organisations we appeal to Government to quicken the process so that the country does not continue to lose money on the same programme,” Mr Ntewewe said.
Useless NGO, TIZ bla bla fyonofyono, why don’t discuss real issues like GBM (best minister) being dragged in mud by a vicious ngoshe? What Transparency do you refer to?
And YALI what the hell… just to read the draft of prostitution? Young Leaders are the GBMs, not documents you never understand, but want just sitting allowances. YALI get insperations from GMB, not Sata and Injustice Minister Kaimbwa.
Hey ba TIZ we can’t support wasting tax payers money on a DAFT constitution, we want a smart draft constitution.Sata has hijacked this one for his daft followers.
Why appeal? We know it all.
Please, be specific because anything above one is multiple!
The SG is also of the same view that 10 multiple copies will suffice.
How many failures are we talking about with PF now???? I can remember the following :
* PF has failed to uphold professional civil service. Civil Service cadrerised to the bone
* it has failed to bring back windfall tax
* It has failed to do away with nepotism, tribalism and regionalism
*It has failed to to uphold rule of law. Rampant selective justice and violation of law- impunity
* It has failed to respect our traditional rulers – both BREs are cases in point
* Failed to create youth employment
Please add to the list . Happy X-mas though
