Bemba ministers to hold Indaba

Patriotic Front ministers and senior party officials coming from the Northern Province are scheduled to hold a caucus meeting at which they want to discuss among other pertinent issues the impasse between President Sata and the Bashilubemba, that has led to the resignation of former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba from government.

PF senior officials told the Daily Nation that Ministers and senior Party officials were concerned about the stand-off between President Sata as an individual and the newly enthroned Paramount Chief Chitimukulu Henry Kanyanta Sosala.

The officials said that they were concerned over the manner government and in particular President Sata was conducting himself over the installation of Henry Sosala as the Chitimukulu and that they were particularly unhappy that the Head of State had refused to respect their tradition by rejecting the new Chitimukulu.

On Monday last week, Mwamba popularly known as GBM resigned from government on grounds that President Sata had challenged him to chose between his family and his ministerial job.

“This meeting is aimed at finding a lasting solution to the stand-off between the PF government and Paramount Chief Chitimukulu Henry Kanyanta Sosala. We want to find out what is the major problem with President Sata accepting what the Bembas want. The stand-off is not healthy for the smooth running of government and we feel that it is our responsibility to ensure that sanity is restored in order for peace to prevail on the matter,” said one of the PF serving ministers.

They said that it was unfortunate that President Sata and his closest allies were unable to see the damage caused because of the stand-off between government and the traditional leadership in the area.
They said that as a result of the stand-off, the PF government was de-campaigning itself in the region, saying it was one of the reasons why Members of Parliament coming from the area were finding it difficult to speak out on the matter.

“This issue is life and death and if Mr. Sata wants to underplay it, he will regret because the PF will be a one term government. The way he is handling the matter it will backfire and slap him in his face. The hatred he has against Paramount Chief Chitimukulu will cost the PF the presidency of the country if this matter is not resolved as soon as possible.

The officials said they had been following the escalating differences between the Chitimukulu and President Sata and were wondering why the Head of State had decided to take an acrimonious route in dealing with the new Chitimukulu.

“President Sata has never told anyone apart from giving instructions that he did not want Henry Sosala to be Paramount Chief of the Bemba speaking people. We leave to speculation whether it is true that he wants a Bisa paramount chief, which is impossible according to the Bemba traditions and Culture,” said the official,” the officials said.

The officials also said that it was sad that before President Sata could understand the issues surrounding the installation of Chitimukulu as paramount Chief, he had already made up his mind on whom he wanted to be on the throne.

“Honestly speaking there has not been dialogue with the leadership over the issue of Chitimukulu and that will cost the party a great deal in 2016. We should not think that the Bembas will accept us if we go there to ask for their vote in 2016,” said the official.

More deputy and cabinet ministers coming from Northern Province are planning to resign from government because of the way President Sata was handling the issue the Chitimukulu, saying they would rather be with their traditional leader than a political interim appointment.

  1. Stop these traditional things, indaba i cant even pronounce it, very hard for someone who is a British zambian

    Thanks

    • @mushota
do you ever have time for a screw? you are always on site. am sure nick is starved no wonder you do not even mention him for a long time now. have you divorced him or you have been divorced and you are hanging by the thread in uk?

    • This is quite a marvellous development within PF. Finally most Bemba Mps are realising how canning Sata is and have come to understand how untrust worthy he is. Now its clear that no one can be spared from sata’ s wrath at any time.

I will be elated to hear that more and more Bemba ministers have resigned from PF cabinet and probably from the party all together. It will definately be the best thing to ever happen in 2014.

Honestly speaking the decisions of these ministers has much to do with Sata’s arrogance . He is obsessed with gaining more political power at the expense of suffering majority who are finding it difficult to make ends meet due rampant food price increases induced by his arrogance.

    • Try, just try to eliminate the monarch from the British system. We then can start talking. until then, shut the f&ck up!

    • A problem is only an issue when it affects the kolwestan? You bembas should be concerned for the whole country and not just kolwe kingdom

  2. Lozis MP you need to hold Linyunganda……..something too and clear off this barotse , eish you are silent because of free bees

  3. The President is wasting our time on this issue. Just on whose behalf and in whose interest is he taking this stance?

Surely not in the name of Zambia.

There are high democratic issues such as the Constitution that require his effort and attention.

  4. We wait to hear from the Indaba….can all Bemba ministers resign? Its wait and see as the game unfolds.

Peace and prosperity to Mother Zambia.

    • Bloggers. Imagine.

It is you and me who are suffering due to the lack of coherence expected of the head of state. The chaos in all sectors – economic, social, agriculture, political, education , including our International relations is scaring.

Just imagine in 2 years – No foreign head of state visit (save Bob), No press conference, trade dipping resulting in K327m trade deficit (Nov 2013), higher prices of commodities ……

… unprecedented polarization on tribal lines, unparalleled antagonism with chiefs, unequaled intra-party violence within a ruling party, highest level of intimidation of opponents (in a multi-party era) and intolerance to dissenting views, complete disregard for the rule-of the-law, lack of respect for immediate subordinates (ministers etc) and many more.

    • Beana Mukubwa, you summed it up very well. So sad, but so true. With all the goodwill PF came into power with, Sata could have enjoyed a legendary status for years to come.

    • Thank you @Wishful Thanking.

The consolation is that God is God. He wanted show the Zambians an example of terrible leadership in form of Sata and his PF. There was so much expectations – but alas.

Let us now all unite to reclaim Zambia.

    • @Bwana Mkubwa

You are absolutely right! The PF has made life for most Zambians a living hell. Until Zambians get rid of all these grannys from the helm of Power ,Zambia will continue to slip backwards economically and politically.

  5. Hey Mike,

things are going cuckoo for you dude. You messed with what shouldn’t be messed with because you believed that you are what you are not. You are not God, you are not an emperor, you are not a king. You are a president, a temporary chairperson at the helm of the presidium.

You hold people using fear, threats, black mail, coercion, duress force and such like. You inspire nobody, everyone detests you but is too afraid to say so. When you fall, few or nobody will help you. Each will ask you to remember the threats you made.

Look at you, a ridiculous coward. Hiding behind state machinery praying for a swift death and hanging on to life. You are a curse to your family that you will leave behind. People will spit in derision when they hear your name. You will lose the…

  6. Look at you, a ridiculous coward. Hiding behind state machinery praying for a swift death and hanging on to life. You are a curse to your family that you will leave behind. People will spit in derision when they hear your name. You will lose the elections. You will doom your Bemba people to desolation as they will be cursed with you.

Your chiefs want you gone, you are a blight on their people. a walking talking curse!

The only hope is UPND and HH if Zambians want to change course for the better.

    • Mike, you don’t know what you are talking about. How many Bembas have been shot at, arrested and charged with treason? Yes police were dispatched to Kasama, but with only orders to intimidate, that’s it. Other than that it is youth empowerment checks and development efforts.

    • How many Bemba MPs…? Northern Province is not all Bemba. The Sata vs Bemba chief is not Political it is personal… if he looses elections it is up to him. He will still be former President.

  8. If all Bembas will resign then which region will our president go to? Eastern – teeeti, North-western teeti – (Masumba arrested & was duped), Southern – iyee, Western heheheheee, Copperbelt & Lusaka??? Lets wait and see, just watching from the terraces now… We have owez told pipo that Sata IS NOT BEMBA!!!!!

    • In this instance it is all those Bembas from Lubemba i.e. under Chitimukulu – this by the way includes Sata who comes from Chief Chikwanda in Mpika. For those who do not know, Chief Chikwanda is appointed by Chitimukulu and is a member of the Bemba royal clan (Abena Ng’andu).

  9. Mushota has a point over this Bemba/Bisa clan rivalry which is a waste of space and time to read. Just call vilagers in your areas and resolve the issue. Do not involve the entire Zambia which is civilized and more concerned about macro-economics and micro-economics that can add value to the nation.

    • Iwe!!!!!!! This issue is affecting the whole Zambia because the current government is surely divided. Instead of them concentrating on developmental issues, they are busy pointing fingers at each other.

    • This is the miseducation I always talk about. You trivialize the things that have sustained you through the ages. Apparently you do not understand the macro and micro-economic implications of the current stand-off. Imwe ati nga mwatila macro and micro-economics abantu ba labutuka. Iyo, tata. You are simply deprecating yourself and symbolizing ignorance of the highest degree. Your kind of behavior makes it hard for us to develop at our own pace.

  10. Does witchraft work? Because if it does these Bashilubembas would have tried it on SOMEONE in secure Place ‘Statehouse’ or maybe Mikiele Chiluta Sapa (MCS) has visited a more experienced Wizard or Witch, so he cannot be touched by their BWANGA!
Am just thinking loudly please bear with me.

  11. this is nice as we enter 2014, let not that mwachusa disturb the dignity us bembas enjoy across the nation.

because of chiluba bembas are regarded as thieves, chiluba wasnt bemba but he imposed himself to be one because of his fluency.

if Sata thinks mpika and the surrounding area will make him bouce back in 2016 let him continue disturbing innocent souls(bembas )

  12. lol, Bemba what!!! Please isn’t Sata also “Bemba” kekekeke, so this a fight between Bemba and the Bisa or Ushi, never heard Tongas fighting Ilas, lenjes and all the clans aligned in the banti botatwe………..

The Cobra has spit on the bembaland…………….you ripe what you saw….

    • But Bisa/Bemba are from the same household of Mukulumpe of the Kola fame! After all history says they were neither known as Bisa nor Bemba at all because these were nicknames coined by the locals in the area where they settled. Point is, these guys are one and the same, period!

  13. This is time to seek spiritual guidance from TB Joshua. Let him show us his salt by predicting the end game for this very unnecessary squabble diverting our attentions.

  14. There is too much ignorance being exhibited by readers. Perhaps the following will help:
    1. Chinsali district is partly Bemba, partly Bisa.
    • Bemba chiefs are Mubanga, Nkweto, Mukwikile, and Senior chief Nkula,
    • Bisa chiefs in Chinsali are Chibesakunda and Kabanda.

    2. Mpika district is also partly Bemba, partly Bisa.
    • Bemba chiefs are Chikwanda, Mpepo, Luchembe.
    • Bisa Chiefs are Mukungule, Nabwalya Chiombo, Chiundaponde, Kabinga and Senior chief Kopa.

    • We appreciate the extra information. However, the question is, between the two sides, the Bemba and Bisa side, which side is the president aligning himself with? Is this a Bisa/Bemba wrangle or not? Does Chitimukulu’s reign extend onto the Bisa chiefs as well or not? In other words, are the Bisa chiefs a factor in the succession process to the paramount chiefdom of Chitimukulu? If not, why does it sound like the Bisas are trying to have their hands in it this time around?

    • @ Mei Matungu – the lie from ZWD (which some people seem to have believed!) is that Sata wants a Bisa chief to become Chitimukulu. The truth is that Sata wants Chewe who is a PF supporter to become Chitimukulu. Chief Chewe is Bemba but from a wrong lineage called Ngoshe Mukote. It is nothing to do with Bisas. Please do not be misled.

  15. Am calling on all my mbuyaz to do the right thing. All politician including hh must avoid regional politics. What will happen if the northern region resigns. Wont that pronounce end of Pf. Already there is no pf in east prov. south prov. South prov. Centtral prov . lusaka prov. West prov.

  16. The PF raised an atmosphere of suspicion between the Bembas and Ngonis. The year 2014 will certainly be very eventful. This is the year when the Ngonis and Bembas will once more joyfully cast a ‘Mbeba’ vs ‘Kolwe’ “NSOLO” game and help each other in times of real need.

  17. Bloggers. Imagine.

  18. Sata, the Emperor, will fire all these Ministers just to show that he is not to be challenged or messed with. Kaili he is a ka god worshiped by bene Luapula Premier, Zambiano and the rest.

    • @dudelove,
Not only will he fire them but will have them charged with treason for daring to undermine his authority.

  19. @8.1mike,
You got it all wrong to think that Lozis are docile. They are peaceful, logical and united in their resolve. It is for these reasons that your PF bemba government has found them to be easy meat for degradation.
On the other hand the bembas due to their selfishness, notoriety and greed are now in two hostile camps fighting each other even forgetting their infamous ‘tu le miteka’.

  20. The problem in PF is that decisions are made by the president only and know one can advise the president once they hear he has made a decision out of fear. It is only GBM who had the guts to speak his mind and that is why he resigned. If PF is divided in Northern, they will need a miracle to win come 2016. Southern, Western and North Western PF will struggle and even Eastern. Lusaka and central is already divided now. Along the line rail is where ruling party easily loses popularity and therefore PF is playing with fire.

  21. @ 16.1 Mei Matungu – the lie from ZWD (which some people seem to have believed!) is that Sata wants a Bisa chief to become Chitimukulu. The truth is that Sata wants Chewe who is a PF supporter to become Chitimukulu. Chief Chewe is Bemba but from a wrong lineage called Ngoshe Mukote. It is nothing to do with Bisas. • Thanks, very enlightening and greatly appreciated! Not too sure though, what to make of the ZWD and whoever is behind it. I am disgusted by the falseholds they are spreading around.

  22. Bemba ministers in PF? It might as well as be the whole cabinet meeting, minus three or four. They can just tell Lungu, Wina and a couple of others to walk out, simple!

  23. Fwebana, Luapula we are just watching already we have been tribled. Out of 13 of 14 constituencies we gave PF we have only been give 1 cabinet portfolio the rest are Deputy Ministers. If they are some who were appointed in foreign service from LP they could be luck.

  24. They should involve other tribes as well. This means W.Kabimba is not qualified to attend the meeting due to his tribe.

    • @mambepa,
You could be right, Sata is unpredictable and crafty, he will just wait for them to convene in one place and his PF police will round them up in one go and lock them up.

    • Londone Eye – In your Dreams. U have a lot to learn about the Bemba’s. Just watch and see who laughs the last.

Munshumfwa twebo aile na mafi Kubuko.

  25. We already have a MwineLubemba, SATA CAN GO HANG, WE DONT CARE>

Zondwa has just dug his own Grave. You do not mess with BashiLubemba, not even a Mad person dare think of such.

I know Zondwa delinquent, but even Chainama patients can simply not think of playing with BashiLubemba.

  26. The bemba indaba is not tribal ?????????? ——, God is teaching us a lesson to stop taking advantage of other tribes by labeling them as tribalists. This time around bembas will learn a lesson and God will make them start respecting other ethnic groups. To you guys who are always labeled as tribalists, read 2 chronicles 20 V15 – 18, “this battle is not yours, God will always be with u.”

In kasama, PF is already divided into two groups……. I are really sorry for the Titanic.

  27. @Mushota, you started it in earnest but majority in their tunnel view cannot see where you are coming from. Tanzania got rid of tribal leanings and chiefdoms and have relative peace and tranquility. Zambia shall just abolish chiefdoms and instead introduce elected bodies to run affairs at local constituency level. It is a good opportunity to turn Zambia into a federal state.

  28. What is this nonsensical talk of resigning from cabinet. They shall not resign, instead encourage HH and MMD to start an impeachment motion and then vote with them en masse. That will be the best donchi kubeba new year gift to Zambians and repent for the sins and miseries the cobra has brought to ordinary Zambians.

  29. Why indaba? Do you think the president is worried about GBM departure? Separation or divorce for him is nothing, it is not the first time to divorce or to separate. If Pf is doing wonders people will vote for them. VIVA MMD!!!!

  30. If the PF and Mr. Sata could make miracles notiona wide why should he kneel down to bashilubemba, the Lozis, tongas, chokwe, ludas, bisas, swakas, lalas, koyas and lenjes will vote for him. Ministers don’t waste your time you are just a 1/4 part of Zambia.

    • Ndesa – It’s your kind that kept telling RB everything was well. STOP DREAMIING PLEASE.

Are you sure the Lozi’s can vote for Sata after all the lies about the 1964 Barotse agreement and there being killed everyday. Am not sure my Tonga brothers can vote for Sata.

Chokwe, Lundas, Bisas, Swakas, Lalas, Koyas have never being PF. They will continue being UPND, to a some extent MMD but never PF…. and the Eastern Province will always be MMD (Eastern Province can never abandone RB, NEVER) .

    • @OldRugsOut,
Your posting is quite interesting and mind boggling, what has suddenly changed that you can refer to Lozis and Tongas kindly and even call them ‘my brothers? In addition I never ever thought your likes would one day call Sata a liar, the chorus has always been Sata, Sata, Sata man of action and now it is ”Sata can go hang we have MwineLubemba/Bashilubemba”.

  31. most unknowledgeable zambians think mpika is for BISAs who taught u such lies. HEMCS is very much bemba dont allucinate

  32. I have NEVER seen Zambia being so divided before as it is now under this PF government and I fear for this country come 2016 I don’t know what worse things will happen under Sata’s leadership.

  33. This should not be treated as a ‘Bemba’ issue. That’s what creates recipes for civil strife. What should be assessed is to what extent the President, if at all, can interfere in the process of choosing a chief. Does he have such powers? If he doesn’t, it should be stated clearly by the peoples representatives in the National Assembly that he should desist from purporting to have powers that he does not have or face the impeachment process. This will set it clear and be a benchmark for the whole country’s traditional system (but then, we have a lame assembly – mainly bootlicking PF members)

  34. I always wonder why Bemba’s have decided to keep quiet and let President Sata be blamed for the Chitimukulu wrangles. President Sata, is not to blame for the wrangles. He is instead trying to correct mistakes on who is the rightful person to ascend to the Paramount chieftainship. As bembas, we there has been a problem with that since the Kaunda era. In short, former President Kaunda is not as innocent as he seems in this issue. In short, President Kaunda, initiated the wrangles we Bembas are experiencing now. I was a young girl, when my uncle told me about it. I remember him suggesting the late Mcc, from the Copperbelt-Chingola, was not the rightful person to be Chitimukulu. Therefore, as proud bemba’s let us allow for more enlightment from historians on who should be the rightful…
