MMD Vice President Michael Kaingu has accused First Republican President Dr. Kenneth Kaunda of influencing the PF government to re-establish the Industrial Development Corporation (INDECO).
Addressing a media briefing in Lusaka today, Dr Kaingu said it is clear to see that Dr Kaunda is shaping the PF economic policies.
Dr Kaingu condemned the move to re-establish INDECO and has urged the private sector to reject it.
“Is Dr Kaunda becoming the Vice President of Zambia? We ask this becoming all these economic policies bear the hallmark of Dr Kaunda and we know the amount of influence the old man has had on Mr Sata’s presidency,” Dr Kaingu said.
He added, “As MMD, our call is for the private sector to stand up and reject this move to revert to failed economic strategies. It was clear that the MMD free enterprise policies have delivered economic growth for Zambia and there is no need to dump these policies.”
Dr. Kaingu said the private sector should be worried because the PF government wants to abandon the free market enterprise which was introduced by the MMD government.
“The private sector must stand up and reject this proposed monster. Today, they are talking about INDECO, tomorrow it will be MINDECO and the next day it will be ZIMCO. What new strategies are these parastatals going to bring to the table?”
Dr. Kaingu also wondered where the PF government will get the resources to re-establish INDECO.
“We know this government is broke. So where are they going to get resources to restart this INDECO they are talking about?”
Dr Kaingu challenged the PF government to clearly state its economic ideology.
“Today, the PF is socialist, tomorrow the same party is capitalist, the next day it is socialist, this is so confusing for the private sector. Let the PF state what economic ideology drives its agenda but Zambia is reduced to its knees,” he warned.
He added, ” The same party wants to nationalise mines and in the same breath wants to encourage private sector investment in the mining sector. They need to be more clear on which policies they are pursuing.”
Bashi Iris leave KK out of your cheap politics ! Give the old man a break !
Well said.
In all honest, KK has no credibility whatsoever
Instead of his name floating with charity, adviser roles, an influence on people, he is like a rabbit caught in the middle of road.
He has no agenda and has diluted his contribution to your country
He should have stayed gracefully retired.
His impudence to all who has questioned his wisdom is the same ego that has erroneously kept his name pertinent .
A delusional old man.
Thanks
INDECO is fine for as long as it not predicated on the same ideals as the holding institute for industrial development in the country.
I believe PF is not going to do what UNIP did with their INDECO
it should be more of a industrial policy guidance institution than directly manage all state enterprises.
Who is Kaingu to tell us Jack ?! The man is a womanizer and has spoiled kids who are in a habit of getting naked before the cameras.Next story please !
Imagine, for the first time I have agreed with Mushota`s reasoning.
Where do they sell PF party cards. I want to buy one as I prepare to submit my application to be appointed CEO of one of the soon to be de-privatised companies especially the nice jobs at zambeef, zambia sugar, chilanga cement, zambia bottlers, zamtel, ptc, memaco, zal elevators, eagle travel, ubz, kafironda explosives, zamefa, cbc, mwaiseni (now shoprite), kafue textiles, livingstone motor assemblers, itt supersonic, maamba collieries, zamcab, national hotel company (now pamodzi and sun hotels), national drug company etc.
@Saulosi
KK is a PF cadre and that is indisputable. He appears at airports to see off and welcome Sata. He accepts international assignments on behalf of Sata and even hosts opposition MP’s who defect to the ruling party. One can’t underestimate the influence he has on Sata and PF policy at the same time one cannot undermine the impact of the KK economic policies on Zambia including this very INDECO. Any reasonable mind would and should be concerned
kaingu! Strategies and plans must be dynamic for anything to succeed. Even your daughter changed her strategy in life by directly filming herself nude mu nsele.
INDECO is not a bad idea, having read our political history, I think KK had good ideas on how Zambia could develop, yes mistakes were made. However, MMD should not have sold our nation the way they did, they should have found ways to make these institutes profitable. as it is, with the so called privatization, all Zambian money is in private hand.. please watch a documentary on you tube called stealing Africa, then you will understand why we need to be in charge of our country in all aspects. these so called investors have no intentions of developing Zambia, they are after our natural resources and huge profits.
Kaingu lee tall lay.
Mr Sata is not making use of the economists that surround him, thats why he appears to show ignorance every time he speaks. Does he even understand why the third national development plan was abandoned?
Sometimes I just wonder what we really saw in the PF for us to want to elect them into govt, because to be honest we are in more mess than we want to admit.
KK is the defacto leader of this country. Borrowing aimlessly = UNIP, Suppression of Free Speech = UNIP, Violent Cadres = UNIP, INDECO = UNIP, High Cost of Living = UNIP.
Who saw how the Zambian watchdog has been character assassinating Mile Sampa in the last 24 hours ? I think the media in Zambia has gone to the D.ogs.I wonder what Zwd has gained from it at the end of the day.I believe the people behind the posting of those young girls photos are still as poor as before.Sorry Off topic but thought of talking about it.On the topic at hand my advice to Kaingu is that he should stop hallucinating.
Yah, true, I really was not too impressed about them revealing all that information. When it comes to such issues, I feel there should be honour amongst men!
Their behavior is disgusting. Now they have destroyed the man’s marriage.Zwd contributing to broken marriages in Zambia.
I have also been following developments at Zambia Watchdog. I’m just shocked at how you people get excited by an attempt by someone to destroy another person and their families. Whether what’s revealed is true or not, the motive is what bad. To me this is like the devil performing miracles in the arena we are busy applauding without questioning authenticity of the miracles and we even mistake him to be great..because he can also twist the truth.
And the funny thing is ZWD were daring Sampa to sue them while they don’t have a physical address. They know that Sampa has no chance of finding them. How can they reach even an extent of offering an Ipad to anyone with more pictures and info of all the girls the guy has dated before and after his marriage ? Smh
The guys at ZWD should get a life thats all.
The ZWD on Miles Sampa typifies our attitudes towards “Pull him down” syndrome. Surely, how can a difference in opinions lead to educated people behave that way? And they call themselves educated!!
I seriously think the ghost that runs ZWD is below the level of sewer rats. He’s a disturbed fella that needs hospitalisation, forget politics this is cyber bullying we talking about and amazed that they are people that still comment on that evil site.
I don’t Miles Sampa but you don’t cast all sorts of accusations when you know your victims have little chance of dragging you to court. Plain evil.
@Zambiano
I think the ZWD achieved one think: they have exposed Miles Sampa to be a hypocrite. He is happy to persue all those who tell lies about him but doesn’t want the lies he tells others to be persued! For a man of his political and social standing, he should be morally upright in all spheres of life. He was challenged to dispute the claims of his infidelity and in my view those are the publications he should have persued vehemently (as opposed to a tabloid statement that he was dishing out money) to establish the truth considering they may involve innocent people. But he knows what is in his closet and thought better.
@ 4.4 Zambiano
Sampa also offered K10,000 rebased for information leading to the identity and location of the individuals behind the same ZWD. Let’s be fair and examine both. Sampa picking up the battle and issuing threats after a story he could have simply rebuffed lead to the severe damage he has suffered. He was trying to portray a man of high principles etc. but the is a legal principle that suggests that “he who seeks justice, must do so with clean hands”…
It is you who should stop hallucinating. INDECO was a failed project and whichever way you use to revive it , will be a failed one. I think sometimes we should be more patriotic to our country than individuals. I will always be patriotic to my country and to the Government only when it is right. That is my motto. Just because it is prophet sata who said it then we should all throw away our analytical capacities and follow suit? My foot ! These ideas belong to the archives. As for Miles Sampa I have no sympathy. The Guy has over grown his pants. He started the fight over a very simple story and therefore he should bare the consequences of the opposite reaction. Surely he could have just rebuffed that story. It was not worth the rantings that followed. He deserves the hammering from ZWD.
@it’s a worry(Discredit the Post and Kabimba for lying to the nation about RB).Yes he offered the money because he knew that ZWD has put their servers outside Zambia hence difficulty to find them.ZWD are stu-pid because they are attacking a person who has no means of defending himself. There is no way you can start a boxing match while hiding from your opponents side.If they are truthful in their dealings let them come out in the open.It is not fair.
But it was fine with you and other hypocrites for The Post to go full throttle in destroying Iris Kaingu. Miles is just as immoral as Iris was portrayed to be!
iwe chi zambiano,
also tell that guy at the post to leave RB alone.why are you one sided baffikalah.when ka miles was daring then didn’t he know about the consquencies.he deserves that bashing infact we still need more.tatulaikuta
But zoona ebukopo obo!
Not to long ago, in his address to workers at INDENI, KK expressed his admiration for Sata. KK commended Sata for resurrecting companies that were created by UNIP which went under during the reign of FTJ
bashi Iris you are spot on:..we need get the ideologies and if not worth it challenge Sata and his minions. We saw how this dwindled our economy through bad administration ethics of this INDECO animal. We saw our parents fighting battles to get the necessities and the mushrooming of black markets as a result of unplanned production speared-headed by politicians relatives at the helm of it.
Bo Ndate Iris, you are as smart as your beautiful daughter Iris. It seems everything out of you is marvelous!
@Saulosi, the old man KK needs to give himself a break. He has no business in the governance of Zambia anymore. He had his chance and he blew it. Zambia was a pathetic skeleton of a country when MMD kicked him out.
And him teaming up with PF / Sata speaks volumes.
He is just found with Sata because Sata is one of his boys.Don`t you have elderly friends Cindy ? Me i mostly hang out with older people.Sata and KK are just a “prototype” of my lifestyle.Lol
let Sata experiment whatever he wants, i dont know if INDECO is part of 90 days… confusion at the climax
and you Dr Kaingu teach your children to abstain before marriage
When did he get his Dr?. MK sports wear to Dr. good progress. in what?
When you never abstained yourself! Rubbish! How many of you are doing worse things than Iris in darkness and pretend to holier than angels during day time? Marabbish ba Mumbwe oh Sorry Mafumu!
Why on earth were companies like Lenco made to close?
Indeco is everywhere, Italy, Australia, Peru, South Africa etc.
KK’s idea for Indeco in Zambia, was brilliant except that it had no competitor. No auditor. It was not run as a business model.
Why have other Indecos else in the world succeeded?
Spot on !!!
The president with those eyes would scare away investors. These companies remind me of the days people used all kinds of magic to stay on the job, when they failed massive lay offs
Kikikikikikiki
Let H.E. The President do the programme-let’s not judge him before this venture takes off. However, my concern is the format in which INDECO will be revitalised. The economists must come up with a viable process of making it function under a liberalised economy. I wish the government them well.
Ba Kaingo,Party yenu yalipwa.If I

Concentrate on reorganising it stead
Of makin noise.
tombah nokoh chikkalah.alifye bwino kaingu.ifyabusushi tatulefwaya
Given their little education, I doubt either GBM or Masumba have ever read about the consequences of pacts with Lucifer. You see, according to traditional Christian belief in witchcraft in which Sata is the reincarnation of the devil on the Zambian political scene, a pact is between a PF cabinet minister/deputy and SatanN or the Chief demon. The likes of GBM and Masumba offer their soul in exchange for diabolical favours. Those favours vary by the tale, but tend to include free fuel, free house, ignorance, abundant illegal and illicit sex, wealth, or power. The bargain is always a dangerous one, as the price of the Fiend’s service is the wagerer’s soul. The tale always has a moralizing end, with eternal damnation for the foolhardy venturer. So to GMB, Masumba and all others in pacts…
I do not know what KK has to do with PF policies or whether he even has a role in this ‘INDECO’ issue. My view is that HE Sata was not articulate in what he was trying to say (nothing unusual there). I believe that he talked about INDECO because to him it represents industries, although I do not think he meant having to revive the parastatal of the KK era. It is akin to people who always refer to toothpaste as ‘Colgate’. Economically, there is no harm in having state industries that compliment the private sector especially in Zambia where the private sector lacks capacity to undertake the level of industrialisation required to dent the unemployment rates. Industries such as agro processing and value enhancing metal processing for example can be set up cheaply to enhance economic…
Zambia in reverse gear! The old men have irreversibly demented.
Just yesterday i came across this proverb on the BBC: “The hands that make mistakes belong to those who work.” A Sesotho proverb sent by Malefetsane Soai, Maseru, Lesotho
Its better for Sata to try anything that can lead to the reduction of unemployment than to fear that he would fail. For 20 years MMD never did a single thing to address this huge issue. If INDECO can be run as a business model, surely jobs could be created. The private sector cannot absorb all the unemployed.
You are wrong! When MMD came into power this country was at its knees. The Government was even subsidizing mining. There was nothing left. Shops had only vaseline and Cobra. Not even Mineral water was available. The so called parastatals had started paying people mealie meal and a bag of charcoal at the monthend. Zambia was in deep crisis. Everyone started running away from KK including Sata. Mr. Haapunda led a rebellion in Parliament. MMD had to give a shock treatment to the country to revive it. Lusaka was not the same under UNIP. Today you have malls and tutemba thanks to MMD. You can go to Kitwe and come back the same day due to MMD. Under UNIP you where at Kamwala for three days before boarding a bus to Kitwe. I think MMD was more organsied than the Panga Family.
Sampa dared them first, so let him dance to the tune he knows best. ZW is not like Sata or GBM, if you start a fight with them you better get to grips with shadow boxing because they are like a ghost, abracadabra, now you see them abracadabra now you don’t! He should just stop his promiscuity, there is AIDS these days and we all know the coloured father of his Tonga girlfriend’s children is dying of the same. Uko manje, umzi wapya cwale wena. If his wife stays with him, then she is a stinking doormat of the Kaseba and Chama Mwamba type.
Are all happy with the current scenario of no industry at all? Leave MCS to resurrect the lost industrial complexes.
There is nothing wrong to have a captive firm to allow Gov. control both sides of the flow of the economy apart from supporting the markets and environment in which private led flourish
The Chinese and US have captive firms to support development in addition to market and private enabling , sometimes given shortime investors and its a way that can help, a venture capitalist type or equity only with excess funds avoiding the failed
The comments above are valid and above a careful review and case snario will refine and validate but then only in circumstances where Gov. has excess monies to place otherwise supporting private led and creation of local markets for exports now
Some Remote places will only become active with Gov. investing given private led investments but to short…
Kaingu doing a good in rebranding himself.lol !Dr kaingu ,have been told or head either from Sata or kk or any of the minister that its the case?Mind u it is every kk did was bad. We now comprend.lt is not every mmd did was good.
Sorry,i ment have u been told…
So what happened to the economic zones? Someone please name one thing this PF government has done from start to finish and has been beneficial to the people of Zambia? These chaps have politicised everything to a point where they will soon start confiscating private businesses to cover up their short comings. They are so busy looking out on their shoulders to a point were they have forgotten how to govern. This country went through hell to dismantle the useless KK policies of humanism. Those INDECO,MINDECO and FINDECO buildings still stand in the heart of the city as a reminder to those who will not learn from past mistakes. UNIP for all it’s glory, ruined Zambia’s economy after independence. Now PF is on a fast-track to dismantle any positive gains Zambia has made, what a shame.
Our nurses want “ZIMCO Conditions Of Service”
zimco conditions hahaha!nikwisa uli iwe. if your father then was under zimco conditions ninshi muli ba sungu
ZIMCO conditions
50 kg of meal mill, 20L of cooking oil, one bail of sugar/month, car loan fiat 127, two air tickets for holidays every year, trust school etc.
SATA IS THE VICE PRESIDENT OF KK !! IT IS KK WHO IS RUNNING ZAMBIA THAT IS WHY IT FEELS LIKE WE ARE BACK IN THE 80’S !! HE IS RE-VISITING ALL THE POLICIES THAT HE TRIED AND FAILED WHEN HE WAS STILL YOUNGER !!! NOW HE HAS TURNED BACK THE CLOCK TO THAT DICTATORSHIP ERA !!!!
Godfrey Miyanda For Presidency 2016!
We are too late for that. KK is already running things. Arrests and intimidation, Chik(w)anda as finance minister…
Does no one see this this cycle? The policies that didn’t work during UNIP will not work today.
The saying “You can’t teach an old dog new tricks” is very applicable here. You can’t expect miracles from dinosaurs that went extinct millions of years ago.
#OneZambia
The problem we have with African politics is that our politicians never learn from past mistakes. They always cling on to past failed policies in the hope that they might work again. This is very common especially with socialists like KK and Sata who don’t understand how the modern economy works. Why bring back an old company that failed the country so badly. Failed policies from failed politicians with nothing to offer the country. KK is an ardent socialist and still bitter at relinquishing power all those years. His therefore determined to bring back the failed policies of his regime to satisfy his vanity. We have politicians who are blinded my age and ideology that they cant see that things have changed. Zambia should try and emulate the new industrialized countries like Singapore.
Sata’s presidency will go down as the most disastrous in the history of Zambia. Sata and his PF lack original thinking and are incapable of delivering devt to Zambia. The guys have no clue . All they wanted was to be elected. Once elected , they are suddenly clueless. This has forced Sata to go back to the familiar territory of UNIPnomics. We are in trouble- by the time PF is through with us, there will be no Zambia as we know it. So much for voting rogues into power.
Indeco failed because of lack of qualified human resource. Most of the people running it where eastern block educated. You all know what this means.
Putting all GRZ owned companies together will straighten the labour movement for sure. it will be easy to paralyze GRZ in case of a dispute!!!
who are they going to milk this time now that there is no zccm?
can solutions that failed 20+ years ago work in this modern economies?
job creation without production will lead us no where.
Blue chip investors normally will not start up an industry but rather invest in green fields and in Zambia its simple the mines the rest requires Gov led initiative supported by local and minority private foreign individuals but then Gov should play an enabling creating opportunies and disinvesting at prime time without eroding value
You simply canot be shorterm in the management of industries to support the economy but rather longterm but investors have short term horizon than Gov any fall out lives the country worse off Its better to solidify and position for longterm defining industries and markets they trade in Its not also a bad idea to relook at industrial and markets…
Good afternoon
I see nothing wrong with the move to re-establish INDECO as long as it is based on a comprehensive, up to date analysis on efficiency/profitability of the company. I have always been a sympathiser of indeginisation because I believe it is the only sure way of Zambians to take back the economy and their resources into their hands.
Many argue that projects like this have failed before but we cannot build our future on negative experiences. Life is about perserverence. How many of us have failed in our personal endeavours? Yet we keep getting up, starting all over and trying again. Whether its a driver’s licence or a degree, its never too late to learn from mistakes and do things differently.
“Don’t look where you fell, but where you slipped.” Arabian proverb
I do like the proverb, but maybe you did not know as it was under KK days or you were to young.KK was dictatorship as its best and the economy down with running for sugar, flour, cooking oil and other essentials.Do you want the same again?????
You chaps criticizing this are just dull.., “INDECOs” of other countries are what’s feeding you Zambians..!
Most of you don’t even know how the defunct parastatal used to operate..
Anyone who studied economics knows that, there is no country which has perfect capitalist or socialist economy. All successful economies tend to be mixed economies.
This means allowing the private and public sectors to work together to create jobs. These succesful economies allow the private sector to move their capital to profitable industries but also to allow the state(public) to invest in strategic industries.
In Zambia under UNIP we tried the socialist way and we all know what happened. The economy noise dived. Under MMD, we also has serious problems with industries like energy and agriculture not getting the investment.
The PF need a mixed economy to create jobs and reduce poverty. Unfortunately, this PF govt has no capacity to manage any public businesses. Too much…
its a sad reading that some 1diots are condemning ZWD for exposing playboy sampa miles. as a zambian I have the right to know what people who hold public office do which influences expenditure of tax payer’s money. am sure he must be using govt vehicles and fuel to ferry those concubines from point A to point B, their upkeep name it. then someone says its non of our business, rubbish
That’s because you believe everything you read. No analytical mind.
this what a leader with foresight and vision does; making decisions that ll benefit the country in while under under5 puppies who are clueless about state governance yap crap.
Mr president dont get distructed by good for nothing bantustans who dream that by talking too much their leader who inherites almost everything on him ll become president.
Lets go sata lets go sata lets go . sata ll be just about the best president this country ll ever ve not tu HH nomutwe kwati litili natu nevers tonse.
The problem we have is that there is more noise in the community than the impact on the ground. Fellow country men where there is NO let’s put No and not the opposite. The economists giving the wrong advice today will soon be gone and the coming generation will be the ones to dance to the tune. Why bringing back the failed formulas? What do we want to see happening again to our staggering economy? INDECO thing to me is a dead plan. This is our country, let’s stand together and go for what is good for us today and the coming generation.
Its like at a firm level where you plan your business segments leveraging your risk and returns ,in others doing a corporate social responsibility having a clear mix of your capital structure and sineges in the asset class according to your stated investments policy statement from shareholders understanding your counterparties The same is on macro level maximizing your GDP potential with a mix of your clear policies carefully rebalancing and repositioning your portfolios as it where in combination with your unique factors exploiting all to your potential. In short the portfolio type is better than a positive correlation that shocks heavily long-term
A mix is better but with long-term view
Does an1 remember ok,mwaiseni, the beatng by vigilante boys, how abt slpng at kmb to catch a bus in the mornng to another city, kaundas era is gone,he tortured us enough, yes we got almost free education but,he must just enjoy pension,
D
But it should not grow too big but rather like a seed develop and harvest to sell and private let to operationalize especially those industries not seen as attractive by private to start up grow as a going concernJust as on Firm level Planning at national should be long-term with the paradigm so clear in a portfolio type maximizing country potential towards potential GDP at the same time positioning your self in risk and returns to come better off than your fellow countries and counter parties to solidifying the country as an economic hub .You have china Hainan china hero ZTE, in the US you have companies called Gov. sponsored ,chartered or acquired companies supporting Gov. mog
Zambian Politics 101
Criticize everything government is doing until you get in then implement the same failed policies.
I am surprised that some people still have hope in SATA & PF despite all the misery they have created.WHY go back when the world is moving foward?
Yes most of us have lots of hope in Micheal. He has in fact delivered already. What a great leader!!!
Kanshi BA KK bakafwa Lisa mwe Lesa twafweni
SATA, please in all you do, do not belittle the Church – especially The Catholic and the Jesuits.
This is an innocent, genuine and friendly warning. Your failure to take this advice would cause problems for all of us as citizens, including you.
Mr President, I have freely advised you despite not being on the payroll of advisors; so that in future you will not cry and say, “no one advised me”.
Is Kaunda still in Zambian politics doing the same things he was doing then? He was Zambian President or Prime Minister the year I was born! Thanks for the education but I despair.
