Forum for Democratic Process (FODEP) has observed that statements made State House as regards to the final draft Constitution are now confusing and disorienting the nation.

Executive Director McDonald Chipenzi says the people of Zambia expect that the presidency should have been being giving clearer position and directions on the constitution.

Mr. Chipenzi notes that as long as State House continues to issue different statements on the constitution, confusion shall continue in the country and which in turn will make the Patriotic Front (PF) government an unpopular.

And the FODEP Executive Director has questioned why the Head of State constituted a technical committee when he knew that the country had a valid constitution.

He further notes that the President should also remember that no one forced him to come up with the technical Committee to draft the constitution and to tell the people in the country that the Constitution would be ready in ninety days.

He adds that the people in the country are following up what President Michael Sata promised them and that statement by the President that there is a valid constitution is considered as sad news by the nation.

    • What do you expect from this useless president? He revels in confusions. He negotiated his wsy to state house through lies. Do you expect this imbecile to say the truth? Even on the constitution, he won’t come out clean. Thats sata’ nature; deceit and lies. Even his former friend FTJ warned us, including his new found friend KK also warned us.

    • Zambia under PF is in maningi trouble. The opposition have to unite for 2016 and let us vote wisely this time around. We should not be going round in circles as a country when Zambia has the potential to develop. Zambia has been stagnant because of poor leadership. Now we have leadership characterised by lies, deceit, evil, corruption, criminality etc under sata and his PF, do you expect Zambia to move forward?

    • I expect the CSO and opposition parties to pressure the TC to verify if the Draft Constitution was handed over to Sata or not. If not they should explain why and when it will be handed over to Sata. I believe this is the way forward instead of playing cat and mouse games.

WE NEED TO KNOW WHERE THE DRAFT CONSTITUTION IS BY END OF JANUARY 2014 OR ELSE ??????????

  1. I agrre with you on the part of issuing statements on this matter. Thats the reason there is so much talk all over the show. Why not issue a concreet statement on the leakeage matter and seal it off with a final chapter of what should be expected?
For that reason, Government might just help in the unwarrated rambling of its citizens, the situation is getting childish and scartered from all camps including opposition parties responding anyhow, lets hope this week will set us free.

  2. What Zambia want is the final draft constitution to be released to the president and the public at the same time.OF like and enjoys quarreling, the leaking of the final draft constitution is not is here, but let govt just give us our constitution, they promised.we have no energy tocontinue debating a none issue. Let OF respect the demands of the people which put them into power.
