The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation ZNBC has dismissed media reports suggesting that its Chief Executive Officer Chibamba Kayama is under probe for having misappropriated money solicited from various companies to conduct a ZNBC end of year party.

In a statement released to the media ZNBC said there is absolutely no grain of truth in the story as ZNBC has not held any end of year party, since time immemorial. They described the reports as highly malicious.

ZNBC advised media outlets to follow Journalism ethos of giving a balanced and fair coverage by engaging the other party in order to have a balanced and well researched story.

The Zambian Watchdog reported that ZNBC Director General Chibamba Kanyama is under investigation for stealing money. They reported that Mr.Kanyama’s chola boy Chika Phiri has already been fired from his job of Director of marketing at the same government controlled media.

The Zambian watchdog alleged that ZNBC insiders said church elder Chibamba Kanyama and Chika misappropriated the money they solicited from various companies to conduct a ZNBC end of year party.

Chika was said to have been fired about two weeks ago but Chibamba Kanyama had been on leave for a few days.

The Zambian watch dog said according to insiders, it was easy to fire Chika because even though he was a senior official, he was not a political appointee.

But disciplining Chibamba required the approval of the politicians who appointed him.Kanyama and Chika are said to be very close.

When Kanyama was working as corporate affairs director at Zambia State Insurance Corporation, he gave Chika a job as Head – Marketing & Business Development.

When he was given a job at ZNBC, he called Chika and gave him the job of marketing director the Zambian watch dog said.

    • The commentary from ZNBC is not addressing all the issues the ZWD had raised. For example:-

      a) Is it true that the Director of Marketing Mr Chika Phiri has been fired? If so what
      led to his dismissal?

      b) When did Mr Chika Phiri join ZNBC? Is it before or during Mr Chinyama’s
assuming the Director General’s position at ZNBC?
      c) What about Mr.Chinyama;/Has been on leave for a few days?

Let the spokesperson for ZNBC react to the above concerns instead of leaving people in suspense.

    • Rigton , Good thinking and surely someone must provide answers. otherwise ZWD
does not miss .We wait for 6 months from today. Chibamba is avery good guy except not liked by fellow journalists who are crooks.

  1. Why do zambians rejoice at someones Misfortunes? The day I read this storry on ZWD I was praying and keeping my fingers crossed for him that it should just be one of those made up storries. I was shocked to see all the comments of cursing and insults of people hoping he be fired. Really my heart sank I couldnt believe my eyes.
I dont know this man but I prayed for him to keep his job, honestly speaking, why would anyone normal rejoice at his fellow humans calamity worse of await for someone to fall down? Please people lets be realist, are you kidding me right now? Thank God Kabamba is ok, whatever his shortfalls hope he be ok and shame on you prophets of doom!

    • Not sure whether it is poverty or whatever has gotten into people. People have terrible hearts especially our friends from ZWD always hurting, hating bitter and insulting. There so much hatred and insults flying around.

    • But wht if it’s true that he stole, don’t u think that’s depriving he needy, and us we should be praying that he keeps hs mod,ge a life.Rightone has provided very good questions that ZNBC should answer otherwise ths story is hanging and we may just believ WD

    • Chibamba Kanyama is just human like Kapoko or this Lozi man who burried huge amounts of money at his farm. Let him come out clean if he’s innocent. What about his Chola boy; can he deny that he did not employ him? Has he not been fired? If so why?

    • one good thing about dogs is that they hate thieves. they do not only bark at the thieves, but given the opportunity they bite and strip them open. viva zwd. keep up your normal work – the good work for that matter!

    • Especially a rabies dog, characterised by profuse salvation and maniac. Bites and moving object and is water phobia.

We will see it coming since it can not bark as it suffers from muscle crump.

  2. Start visiting websites not dogsite! If you are convinced Zambian watchdog is your truth you have no business visiting a lie.

  3. The Zambia Watchdog has never missed a target or reported any story wrongly. Every time they report they have thorough investigated. How many stories has the ZWD reported to the nation about governent dealings or indeed individual dealings that have turned to be true that people critised?

    • What should Zambians expect from corrupt Richard Sakala, he saved his prison term and now he wants innocent citizens to be implicated in made up lies.

    • You obviously must be in dreamland. ZWD publishes lies everyday so someone cant make out what is true and what is lies in any of their reports. Thats why I stopped visiting their site

  4. Chibamba Kanyama, Dr. Simon Miti, Kapoko etc and all just cheap greedy thieves. unfortunately, zambia only rewards thieves and crooks.

  5. The question is why should we have so many made up stories? Does the media think if they dont have a story they should just make up one? Their modus operandi seems to be just accuse someone of anything and then wait for the accused to respond. However some innocent people dont like the limelight. They should be protected from the media by the law.
