The Bemba Royal Establishment has vowed that it will stand and protect former Defence Minister Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba because he has proved his undivided loyalty to his family by resigning from government for the sake of peace in the chiefdom.
The Bemba Royal Establishment has said Mwamba popularly known as GBM had set a precedence that no political job was worth sacrificing family values for and should therefore be respected for his principled decision.
Bemba Royal Establishment representative for late Chitimukulu Mutale Chitampankwa, Kombe Mulenga, said that Mwamba sacrificed for his people and there is no way the chiefdom could abandon him.
Mulenga called on Bembas to have respect for Mwamba saying the Kasama Parliamentarian had exhibited rare traditional characteristics by leaving his lucrative political job for the respect of traditional values.
Mulenga said that Mwamba’s resignation from the government was a pride to the Bembas and that his decision to leave a prestigious ministerial job was extraordinary.
He said that those agitating for the expulsion of Mwamba from the Patriotic Front (PF) were not sincere because GBM was a genuine member of the ruling party and that his contribution to the party could not be doubted.
Mulenga said it was malicious for some sections of society to begin fishing for cases against the former Defence Minister after he had left government.He said Mwamba had not committed a crime by resigning unless the PF government had criminalised the freedom of leaving a job if one was not happy.
Mulenga said that allegations of disrespect leveled against Mwamba were nothing but malicious attempts to scandalize the Kasama MP who since his resignation has suffered from harassment, slander and political persecution from his own party.He said that the people of Kasama do not have any hate for Mwamba because he had contributed a lot to the development of the area.
He challenged the PF officials who have been calling for the suspension of GBM to point at what they had done for the people in their respective areas.
Looks from the Photo that the man has shed a bit of weight – which is highly commendable. The couple appear so contrite as if from just taking holy communion. Careful of that axe wielding singer amongst the Guards of Honour.

GBM is rare breed of Zambian politicians. He has a mind of his own.
Many our politicians like to tell the boss what they want to hear. Abash such mentality.
I envy GBM because he has his own mind and in my opinion, he has used his judgement correctly, Family ties can not be sucrificed for political office because while one is permanent the other is temporal. Decisions made in this way are called wise and most politicians I know make decisions based on their bellys.
I’m not a funny of GBM but honestly speaking he did not commit any crime by resigning, what he showed by committing to remain a member of PF is enough loyalty. If PF feels GBM is a liability, let them get rid of him and him personally will lose nothing but mmmmm…. may be PF will gain something from that. Life will continue however.

A lot of us thought GBM is an illiterate, he has shown a rare feat of intelligence lacking is the so called “Educated Politicians of the belly” he has shown us that he is principled. Please haters just give this man the respect he deserves.
GBM Mwaume, a man among men. Job seekers in government can never resign becoz they can’t survive out of it. 2 years ago masebo was insulting Sata as being childish but today sings the highest praise, Nsanda beat Sata in 2001 but today claims to be the most loya, Mmembe insulted sata as a corrupt Bemba tribalist but today its “Michael this, Michael that.” I respect Kapwepwe, Mwanawasa and GBM for having resigned when they don’t agree with a sitting president. Others just adapt and become chameleons. We need more principled politicians like GBM in our politics today!

GBM is a hero to Bembas like you. We none Bembas hate that man. He is a tribalist. Remember what he did during the last army recruitment. He instructed the military bosses to recruit Bembas only. Our hero is HH. He is young, educated, rich and down to earth. HH can improve all sectors of our economy, from agriculture, mining, tourism to our stomachs. Bembas are just noise makers. Look at Sata, he made so much noise during his days in the opposition. Now that he is president, the man even fears to face the media. Bemba are not born leaders.
No wonder some people are scared of 50% + 1…if they want they can expel GBM and we will see them only getting 33% of the vote. Even without a new constitution a united opposition with one presidential candidate will knock out PF the same way MMD knocked KK and UNIP in 1991. Zambians love to knock out a strong, arrogant incumbent government.

I was in Kasama yesterday, I took my child to Mungwi tech high and on my way back, there was a heated debate in a minibus, according to my observation the PF has been mislead by the provincial secretary Everest Chela. Chela had an hidden agenda on GBM whose popularity has grown tremendously in Kasama because of chela misconduct and cheat. whoever is in doubt should travel to Kasama and see for himself. The people say northern province has been denied a university and other social amenities which are now benefiting Muchinga and Luapula provinces. Schools in the province are still grass thatched. Within the provincial executive committee cadres are divided others are for mighty GBM while three are for Kabimba.

This is a thought-provoking story especially the headline, ‘GBM is ours- Bemba chiefs’. It looks like Sata as things are right now cannot even think of visiting Kasama to avoid getting snubbed and embarrassed. So far there are two no-go areas for Sata, Mongu and Kasama.

GBM is just some opportunist who thinks tribal allegiance is more important than national patriotism. All such thinking in Africa has brought about are genocide and civil war.
