President Sata must call for an early general election in order to replace the useless PF members of Parliament that he has personally identified, says political activist Dante Saunders.

He said it was clear that the PF government has lamentably failed to deliver because of the wrong people around President Sata who were scared to tell him what to do in pursuit of good governance.

There was no option but to call for early elections which will give Zambia new leaders now that President Sata has personally realized that his MPs were totally useless.

“It is for this reason the PF government has failed to deliver because it has wrong people in place that cannot deliver to the people’s expectation, and also who are not helpful to him because they are scared of telling him what to do,” he said.

Saunders said that President Sata’s statement that most of his PF Members of Parliament were useless confirmed why his government had failed to run the affairs of the nation.

He said President Sata must take full responsibility and realize that he was running a nation and not PF, adding that the President should not suppress innocent citizens on grounds that his government has failed to deliver.

“The problem with Mr Sata is that he does not want to listen to what the people and other stakeholders are saying,

“Right from the beginning it was clear that the PF was not ready to give the people of Zambia what they wanted. It will be better if he calls for early elections so that he can have new leaders to help him bring about development,” he said.

He said that the PF leadership did not embrace dialogue or support divergent views because there was too much selfishness and ignorance, adding that it was important to see change, starting with President Sata who should seriously change his attitude.

“Politicians should try to exhibit politics of love, maturity and not politics of finger pointing like what we are seeing in the PF leadership, no wonder their failure to perform their duties to expectations,” he said.

He maintained that leaders who were not ready to hold public offices should vacate and give chance to others willing to serve Zambians diligently.

And the opposition ZDDM leader Edwin Sakala said he was happy that President Sata has admitted that most of his MPs were useless.

Sakala said that Zambia needed a fresh start and that it would be best to call for early elections because the future of Zambia was threatened by the poor calibre of leaders in politics.

“As ZDDM we are mobilizing to picket State House and among the suggestions we want to put forward to President Sata is that he should within his powers dissolve his government and form a government of national unity which will accommodate all political players for the sake of saving Zambia, because the current politics of bickering are only destroying the future further,” he said.

  1. He should have just said that we as PF Govt leaders are all useless. Why only MPs? It is the whole system that has failed.

  2. in my view the president was not fair
some guys that he lined up are trying very much to develop theire constituence

    like the case in pambashe
the waste useless culprit are the senior ministers.
the president should avoid using junior members of pf as sacrificial lamb, for his inefficiency .if he cant tell his senior ministers .better he keep quiet

  3. President Michael Sata is very honest and frank person. What is the role of our MPs and how many of them have executed their duties. Most of the current MPs are indiscipline, and have failed to explain the party manifesto and government policies to the people.
MPs do not visit their constituencies and do not consult them, but wait for an election time. All the current MPs in Zambia should take audit of themselves and the truth is they are useless, thus they do not work well or failed to achieve anything.

    • not always sir. sometimes its the vehicle that is not okey; you cant always blame the driver.the president cant go to mulobezi constituency and develope it. why do we elect both mps and councellors sir? dont you remember that sata performed well when he was a minister? sata calls a spade a spade no matter what. for his frankness, he deserve a pat on his back. tell me of any president with that kind of frankness even to his representatives. remember and i quote he sais some not all.

    • He performed well as a minister because someone was doing the thinking and he was carrying out instructions while being supervised…

The fact is Sata has no managerial skills and his incapable of thinking for himself. Thats is a result of the low level of education if any he has which can not comprehend the functions of the modern world. At best he is only cable of being a councillor in this modern day time…

  4. Performance assessments is the way to go. Even if replaced, the system still has no monitoring mechanism for the actual work plans of MPs.

  5. But my million dollar quetion is why is still holding on to the mps who are not perfoming?
he has the power to fire any inefficiency mp

but just talking is not good he should act now.

also let him stop washing the dirty linen in public.Atherwise we not taking them serious for theire carless talk

  6. @Chunda Staphen
What Sata said about his MPs is not – by far, sign of frankness, it is sign of ineptitude by a head of state, it is failure to apply leadership skills. Presidency is very high portfolio which must apply high level methodology to attend to problem identification and solutions. If in a home, a mother discovers that the husband urinates on bed, there is no need for her to put up a blanket statement that everyone in the home is useless. She needs to use her skills to approach the husband and try to find a solution. In fact the correct frankness in this case is were the president admits that they(PFs) have failed on leadership not that confusing blanket statement.

    • Always remember that knowledge and intelligence is USELESS if there is no commitment. It is our commitment that will help us overcome the changes needed in our life today. Laziness is one of major qualification of all our MPs hence they are USELESS.
