Zambia’s first privately owned commercial radio station Radio Phoenix has with immediate effect terminated contracts for all its employees.
A source close to the issue said the workers will be required to re-apply for their jobs on contract.
The source further said that the workers will be paid all their outstanding dues at the end of March.
Some investors from Botswana last year bought 25 percent shares in Radio Phoenix, a commercial radio station that was established in 1996.
Efforts to get a comment from Radio Phoenix Proprietor Errol Hickey proved futile as his mobile phone went unanswered.
Of late the news on Radio Phoenix has been compromised. It just comes like news on ZNBC.It’s Sata,Guy Scott bla!bla!bla!
Up in the air!
Radio Phoenix is now just like The Past Neewspaper which is an extention of Govt. Proganda tool.Maybe they want to be in ‘good’ books with the Pathetic Failures(PF) so as to get their Licence for broader range broadcasst.
This radio is a joke
Ati Nubiam Princess, if you dont have anything good to say just shut your mouth.
…ba LT, this article does not warrant the use of the word ‘fires’……
Misleading headline….the company’s maybe just restructuring.
With the Botswana investors owning 25%shares it’s most likely the radio station is just restructuring not firing as implied. Some former Djs has now established there own e.g moses nyama,The C.Chitoshi and Zacharia. Anyway it’s were the best is good enough.
Nothing wrong. If government can fire nurses why can’t a private company do like wise. After all they are going to be paid their severance packages.
DO U PIPO UNDERSTAND THE WORD ALL WORKERS .MEANING THE RADIO STATION IS CLOSED
Sata has shown them a good way.
Radio Phoenix is not the Radio Phoenix of yesterday. It has highly bin compromised. News qualiy has gone down let the pipo tok at nite! Sad indeed!
Restructuring at work.
