The women’s movement in the country is saddened with the dismissal of former Home Affairs Deputy Minister Alfridah Kansembe.
Speaking in an interview Non Governmental Organisation Coordinating Council NGOCC board chairperson Beatrice Grillo says the dismissal of the former Deputy Minister is a blow to the fight for a 50-50 representation in decision making positions.
Ms Grillo says it is sad that a female minister has been fired when the country has just a few female ministers in government.
“As you know there are very few women in these positions in government so to get one out it is sad we are not preview to why she was fired but our hope and desire is that these women who are put in these positions should be able to excel and do not find themselves were they have to be removed so that they can provide good leadership”. She said.
She also called on republican President Michael Sata to consider replacing the former deputy Minister with another female Minister.
The NGOCC board chair was commenting on the recent firing of Alfredah Kansembe as Deputy Minister in the Ministry of Home Affairs.
well since she is a failure she can either join you or form her own NGO like you have done
Grillo should just apply for a job as a minister.
Grillo, is she married to one of those white volunteers who never want to go back to their countries because they are as Alexandre Chikwanda put it?
A failing dictator.
Is this 50-50 representation irrespective of merit? It is bound to go the same way as the so-called affirmative action that is proving controversial in SA and USA…
