First republican president Kenneth Kaunda has called for cooperation across political parties.

Dr. Kaunda has reminded people in the country that despite them belonging to different political parties they should remember that they are all brothers and sisters.

Speaking last evening in Lusaka at a dinner hosted by United National Independence Party (UNIP) in honor of his 90th birthday anniversary which falls on the 28th of this month, Dr. Kaunda reminded people to also remember the One Zambia, One Nation motto.

Dr. Kaunda says this is especially that the One Zambia, One Nation motto does not belong to any particular political party but that it is a national motto many that struggled for the country’s liberation from colonial rule are aspired to.

He says everyone in the country should also remember to actively practice the message of love adding that he also feels humbled when fellow human beings show deep appreciation for the 90 years his life on earth.

And the Dr. Kaunda has admitted that good developments have take place before and after the independence of Zambia because many people were able to work together as brothers and sisters.

He says this year as the country celebrated 50 years of Independence, it is further important for the nation to remember those that have contributed in various ways, before Independence and after Independence.

Speaking earlier at the same dinner UNIP vice president Njekwa Anamela commended the Patriotic Front (PF) for leading the nation in reflecting on the achievements of the first republican president as true national hero and an outstanding leader of his time.

Mr. Anamela says it is also in recognition of Dr. Kaunda’s exception life and leadership that UNIP also renamed its building in Lusaka as the Kenneth Kaunda House on his 80th birthday anniversary.

Mr. Anamela has also implored people in the country to emulate and follow Dr. Kaunda’s examples in commitment, love and belief in humanity and in standing up to be counted in pursuit for worthy causes

  1. Thank you KK, for sure we understand your encouragement. However, those thugs of PF beating up brothers and sisters, they can’t even be my cousins.
    Happy Birth Day… in advance.

    • Everywhere you go in Zambia Its David Kaunda drive, David Kaunda Avenue, David Kaunda Crescent, David Kaunda Close, David Kaunda Way, David Kaunda Secondary school, David Kaunda Basic School, David Kaunda primary school,Helen Kaunda Drive, Helen Kaunda avenue secondary School, Helen Kaunda Road, Helen Kaunda Drive, Helen Kaunda Avenue, Helen Kaunda House, Kenneth Drive, Kenneth avenue, Kenneth Kaunda Crescent, Kenneth Kaunda Way, Kenneth Kaunda Close, Kenneth Kaunda Secondary school, Kenneth Kaunda primary school,Kenneth Kaunda foundation Kenneth house and now Kenneth Kaunda Airport. Is he the only one who interested in being remembered? Zambia has had other deserving heroes worth of honoured. Enough of Kaunda this, Kaunda that.

  2. Wow, the person who destroyed democracy has spoken.
    Happy Birthday.
Enjoy retirement and let majority of Zambians born after your demise decide without your expertise in fundamental rights and democracy.

  3. GOOD ADVISE KK.

KK YOU MEAN WELL BUT YOUR PAST BEHAVIOUR EVER SINCE PF TOOK OFFICE HAS BEEN VERY BIASED. YOU HAVE BEEN USED BY PF TOO MUCH. THEREW IS VIOLENCE IN ZAMBIA CAUSED BY PF CADRES AND YOU IN PARTICULAR AS A FATHER OF THE NATION YOU HAVE CHOSEN NOT TO CONDEMN THE THUGERY BEHAVIOUR OF PF CADRES. THAT IS TO DAY SOME OF US EVEN AS YOU SAY SOMETHING SENSEBLE WE CAN NOT TRUST YOU. BECAUSE WHAT IS HAPPENING TO DAY IS AREFLECTION OF WHAT ZAMBIANS WENT THROUGH WHEN YOU WAS THE C.E.O FOR ZAMBIA. SO TO DAY WE HAVE SATA MICHEAL IN STATE HOUSE HE IS DOING THE SAME. LOOK AT THE ECONOMY. THE KWACHA HAS LOST VALUE BECAUSE FININCE MINISTER CHIKWANDA IS STILL HAVING UNIP MENTALITY JUST BELIEVING IN DEBT BUILD UP. HAPPY BIRTH DAY FOR KK.

  4. This hard core dictator KK, has he forgotten how he destroyed democracy by eliminating the opposition parties and their leaders? In fact he has pending cases to answer and will be treated the same as the late Chilean dictator Pinochet.

    • @Boondocks,
As a matter of fact the dictator KK banned all opposition, he unilaterally created a one-party dictatorship under the stinking so-called ‘philosophy of humanism’, whatever that means.

  5. No matter how much he speaks, he can never be in th same league as the Nelson Mandela’s, Sam Nujoma or Julius Nyerere’s of this world. Not even UNZA has recognised him with a degree or even just a diploma. Th others, such as Sam Nujoma n Nelson Mandela, i bet they r even tired of th degrees and statues that have been placed in there honour.

    • Zambia does herself a disservice by immortalizing a vicious dictator by naming streets, buildings and airports after KK. What kind of people would we think Ugandans are if say Makelele Univeristy was renamed Idi Amin Dada University?

  6. KK the dictator of 27 years now PF chief cadre.
On KKs 90th birthday, he must reflect on , not only the good but also his ills’ he inflicted on others at all levels. Surely not so mute on Barotse issue of 1964 which brought about the coinage of “one Zambia one nation” Barotseland and Northern Rhodesia which was omitted in the history books of Zambian KK dictatorial one party state of UNIP.
Posterity will be the judge of truth because man can never mock God but himself.
Can only wish KK a reflections birthday of the his addiction to dictatorship.

  7. There is nothing like ignorant people who cherry pick one negative thing out of 20 positives to make their little points. Did Kk ever instruct or ask anybody to name anything under his name? How many african countries had multi political parties during that time? One party state was the norm those days but still alot of Zambians prospered. Yes there were shortages but hey if south africa and zim were free and trade was open, there would not have been any shortages. So what if the man was not perfect, he did more good than harm and he did not STEAL A SINGLE NGWEE from the Zambian people. Thats integrity folks and once again please tell me one dictator that called for a free and fair elections where he lost and handed over power peacefully.
