Republican President Michael Sata has called for the preservation of Zambia’s peace.
Speaking during the commissioning of Zambia Air Force (ZAF) officer cadets at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone this morning, President Sata said Zambia has continued to enjoy peace and stability and that it is important that this status quo is maintained.
President Sata said there is also need to ensure that men and women in uniform are comfortable as they continue to do their duties of preserving peace.
The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed forces, who touched down at Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula international airport at 10:10hours aboard the presidential jet said military personnel are there to promote peace and stability in the country.
President Sata also jokingly cautioned military personnel against using guns for criminal acts or beating their spouses but rather use them for intended purposes.
Speaking at the same event, ZAF Commander Lieutenant General Erick Chimese noted that government has shown interest in ensuring that the military wings are well equipped as they have been able to buy enough equipment since 2011.
General Chimese is hopeful that the one hundred officer cadets who have been commissioned today will provide the necessary security in the country.
He also disclosed that the one thousand and one houses that were built at ZAF Twin Palm have already been occupied by some officers and that those who are not accommodated within the camp are paid well to rent accommodation elsewhere.

LT are you sure the President made sense this time? Is this not just a cooked up story the way you cheated us over what he said during Labour Day?
The trouble with Zambian politics there is this idea that corruption, lazy Ministers are copiously abundant in the current regime.
Corruption is bad, I know that so is debt. But lets be practical here, are you expecting a new party that takes the reigns to be corrupt free? The president has side-lined most corrupt people that have been found guilty and has NEVER encroached in the ACC’s handling of corrupt ministers,
What we need to realise is that notwithstanding all these misdemeanours, PF has been a better than MMD. We the country do not want to experiment with another party in UPND and accept that the problems we face are faced by all other countries and therefore we MUST support this government.
Anyone not in agreement is a bad seed in Zambia’s wellbeing.
Thanks
There will be no speech. We all shall just be talking about the same things all over again. Go and reflect and improve on the army performance. Where are they I am told there are cadets to awarded after I have left Mr Edgar Lungu can present the awards because I don’t see why we should be presenting the awards I know how the army is suffering. National anthem please.
@old age
he also said UPND wanted to ambush him in livingstone.m it made me lough my lungs out. ba LT are censoring the news for whatever reason hell knows
King Cobra ! What a wise man.I Love this man.
What kind of peace are you calling on when you are busy brutalising the opposition? Fake leader.
Great Man
Thank you Mr Sata
Thanks

Mushota I prefered your old style when you keep pretending to be a girl who is happy in Scotland . With out of topic comments annoying everyone. Now you are so boring blogging everyday in support of PF. You said you are not bothered with what is happening in zambia now you are ever blogging support. You lost a fan sir!
Mushota, I advise you to use two blog names; one where you pretend to be a girl and go on about how you love shagging Nicky, how you hate Zambia, how educated (un educated) you are etc. and the other where you are a PF cadre. I will read the ones where you pretend to be a girl because I find them funny though annoying sometimes!
Mushota, it seems you can sense Scottish independence soon. Are you looking for a job at the new Scottish mission? How come you prefer to talk about Mr Sata and not Nicky these days?
Oh yes preservation of peace is the key.I have met a lot of people from current and previous war torn countries like Rwanda,Somalia and Congo that have been given asylum in Europe and trust me i`m yet to meet anyone doing fine. Most of them are disturbed.War has messed them up psychologically ,all they do is get money from the state and party.I can count on my fingers the number of those that have decided to get themselves an education while here.
True that.I would rather have an inefficient government like PF than having a war torn country.Better tivutika but enjoying peace.
@ Saulosi, well, well, well…
Are you saying that you live in democratic Europe where even refugees get unemployment/social security benefits?
That explain your out of touch and out of reality comments about to day Zambia.
On the other hand, enjoy your fundamental rights and benefits of the real democracy.
@142…i have been all over Europe bro in the last 10 years I have been living here.It may not be the situation in my current country, but I have lived and studied in Scandinavian countries where that’s the sad reality.
@Saulosi, I have been even where you have been. I don’t think the character/ behaviour of people are due to war. Rwanda, Burundi and Burma for example are exceptional, they get education and behave well. But bring on those Angolans and their brothers from DRC, and the Somalians are somalians, they are only 10 million Somalians on earth, but you find them allover the place… including Japan.
Now you Zambians also behave like you are war-refugees…
Glad you know where i`m coming from Nostradamus. You are spot on…but i still blame war for their behavior. To them it is like when they come here and get their welfare money everything ends there. So what do you think makes them to shun work and school ?
@ Saulosi
You mean that you can pass “learned” opinion about life and daily sufferings in today Zambia whilst enjoying freedoms and social benefits of democratic and corruption free Scandinavia?
Please, can you then enlighten your Panga Family on the benefits of corruption free environment, rule of law, absence of nepotism, free medical care, fundamental rights, free press, right to protest and thousands upon thousands more daily rights which people of Zambia do not enjoy.
Please come and see reality of Zambia and then make comments.
Yeah it was a short speech, but our president is not well.i rest my case only those who have seen him near will attest to this.does pf have any leader who can’t be sabotaged by the cartel.
One should not underestimate Sata’s interest in the uniformed services. He is all too aware of their role in cementing his stronghold on power in the event of any public disquiet towards his Govt. Houses, payrises and even equipment is all at their disposal. Sata says “there is also need to ensure that men and women in uniform are comfortable as they continue to do their duties of preserving peace”. What about the nurses who preserve lives whom he sacked? What equipment have we seen in hospital wards? Infact Sata is not referring to internal peace. Otherwise he would have been making this address at the Police and freeing them from the apparent shackles to allow them to freely deal with the machete and gun carrying PF and their youth leaders. I am afraid the Air force will not do that
@142…i have been all over Europe bro in the last 10 years I have been living here.It may not be the situation in my current country ,but I have lived and studied in Scandinavian countries where that’s the sad reality.
Why don’t came to Zambia to see sad reality of today Zambia and then pass comments.
What is peace if the youth are not employed. what is peace if your wages cannot take you to the following month. what is peace if there are no medicines in the hospital? Peace, ladies and gentlemen is not just the absence of war!
Really laughable where was the Facebook President when his machete welding cadres were on the rampage a few month ago…its crystal clear he attended this occasion just for the costume and to crack his tasteless jokers.
The position of presidency in Zambia is void no leadership whatsoever! !
*..jokes..
Yes indeed what is peace if cadres murder each other freely. I refer Lusakatimes 13th Dec, 2013 headlined ‘Sata Refuses to Ban use of Machets’. “President Michael Sata has refused to issue a ban on the use of Machete (Pangas) in the country. The president was speaking today at Statehouse house during a meeting that was attended by Cabinet Ministers, Deputy Ministers and all Patriotic Front Members of Parliament. In response to Education, Science, Vocational Training and Early Education Minister, John Phiri who asked the president to issue the ban, Mr Sata explained that the move would lead to loss of business by some Zambians. The Machetes have been at the centre of PF cadres infighting.”
He contradicts himself or may be he doesn’t understand what “preservation of peace” means. Sending armed soldiers to intimidate bashi Lubemba, Chitimukulu and his peaceful subjects isn’t preserving peace. What if they had reacted and hit back? Wouldn’t there be civil war right now? His actions doesn’t promote peace. His cadres parade around with pangas as though they had monopoly on violence, instilling fear in law abiding citizens, and the police are impotent to do anything about it.
Do you wanna be a well paid slave… or a hungry free man??? …..”Lucky Dube…””
LT, why have you not reported Sata’s demented ramblings about being hijacked by UPND this morning? Why do you not portray your president for what he is; a sick, delusional being who is becoming a security risk to this country as commander in chief of our armed forces? This country risks being thrown into a serious crisis of gigantic proportions if it continues to be led by this dangerous person who may one day just wake up and declare war with a neighboring state or order the arrest or death of political opponents simply because he is hearing voices in his head.
Some people from a known political party had planned to abduct the head of state. Why? Why?
Some people from a named political party had planned to abduct the head of state. Why? Why?
And he said you must use the guns for the intended purpse. Please take heed. Why must guns collect dust and rust up. Why? Why?
Preserve peace and use the guns for intended purpose . My logic is disjointed as ZP
Put it this way, the speech was written for old man he knows nothing about it…he only brought the Halloween costume and the dry jokes.
Mushota and Saulosi.
Hard and suffering experience has been the necessity of invention in this world.
Zambia has gone through that patch since independence and changeover to multiparty. The most deceptive plight to Zambia has been to recycle leadership which is inimical to innovation and creativity in modern management known as ‘complex management’. Example is president Sata who has been in leadership from colonial system to independent Zambia over to multiparty and current head of state.
Change as is known does not permit from such people whose ideas can not connect with novelty in an ever changing environment. Zambian have not forgotten Guy Scott – swine gate, Sata – mezalf Chilenge scandal, $130, 000 dollars held with at South African airport from MoH. How can Zambia expect change…
to come with such leadership? Recycled leadership is not only recipe for stagnation to Zambia both political and economical development retardation.
Change can only come about by new innovative thinking of creativity, EDUCATION to know world trends on both economical and political world platform and successful trail for people to acknowledge to. At the moment it is undeniable fact that only HH possess these qualities not withstanding many Zambians both at home and abroad. The only difference is others are not heard or known to the public. HH is a leader of a political party and is consistent in his political and economic mantra. That makes him standout from a crowd of worthy Zambians to lead for change, dont forget his age compairs well with Cameron, Obama etc.
