DEPUTY Minister of Home Affairs Stephen Kampyongo has warned MMD president Nevers Mumba against putting President Sata under duress over the Constitution process.
Mr Kampyongo was reacting to threats by Dr Mumba that the opposition alliance will embark on protests to press for the release of the final draft Constitution.
“Nevers Mumba must not put President Sata under duress to respond to the letter they wrote concerning the issue of the Constitution. President Sata has many other letters and issues to attend to. He is a very busy man,” Mr Kampyongo said.
He advised Dr Mumba to be civil in his politics.
“We are all interested parties in the Constitution. In fact we represent more people than this so-called opposition alliance. They are only a handful of people who do not even match the number of people in my constituency,” Mr Kampyongo said.
He said the opposition alliance is at liberty to demonstrate as long as it fulfils the provisions of the Public Order Act.
“Yes, they can demonstrate over the constitution but we will not allow lawlessness. This ministry will not sit back and watch them bring confusion in the country,” he said.
Mr Kampyongo said Dr Mumba is excited and making unsubstantiated claims such as blaming the Patriotic Front for the woes the MMD is facing.
Stephen Kampyongo Co. are the type of leaders Zambia should do away with. What then is the job of the opposition if not to put pressure on the government? You still want a party that sings praise of the president in this century? You are just de-campaigning yourselves.
Why exactly shouldn’t the president be pressurized? Could it be because the man is a fruit head? If you can’t stand the heat, get outta kitchen. Kapyongo should not be mistaken to think just because he represents his constituency then all his constituents subscribe to the same views he has about the constitution. Mr Kapyongo would be shocked to know what few numbers think PF has/is doing a good job over the constitution.
Kampyongo or is it Chipyango whatever, dealing with oppositions demands is part of the job. Obama deals with resistance from Republicans on a daily basis but still gets the job done. So if your president Sata feels he is under duress, then he should step aside and let others lead.
Sata has put himself under duress by failing the 90 days test. No one is putting him their
Pf ministers are too imaginative of things,pf got less than 45% in 2011 and they tried to gain majority in parliament by induced by elections and still failed,so which majority is this useless deputy minister is he referring to,sir go back to school and learn what majority representation mean.
Mr Kapyongo needs to know that the issue of the constitution is what made people to vote for PF. The Republican president is actualy putting himself under duress because of not living up to his promises. The opposition is simply asking him to honour his promise. Mr deputy Minister Sir do not take power for granted by thinking that the Zambians including those in your own constituency are fools. Zambians are enlightened now and they Know what is due to them. You promised a good constitution to the Zambians that was going to address the public order act the PF government became a victim of during the MMD era. Has time erapsed so much for you to forget the promise you made to provide for Zambians? Come on Sir its time you give the Zambians what is due to them.
“He advised Dr Mumba to be civil in his politics.”!!!
Idiocy at its worst!!!
I listened to Kampyongo, Stella Libongani and Mbawe on radio phoenix yesterday. It is just amazing how we could have such dull people in such important positions of leadership. Kampyongo’s interpretation of the the POA is at best laughable. The fact is civil liberties in Zambia are worse off now than was in Apartheid South Africa
You are very right on this one. I also listened to Stella Libongani some time back during the peak of the fugitive Henry Rupia Banda. Even through her speech one would know and conclude that they will never get Henry. I lamented having such people in those high office who can’t ably explain issue.
@Obatala and @Peter, mediocrity begets mediocrity. So long as State house is occupied by “swarff” (societies discard) the country will continue to retrogress. Just as in nature, water and oil wont mix.
Stephen Kampyongo, wonders may never end.Surely Stephen can advise Dr Mumba to be civil, who’s really civil between the two?Kampyongo, please don’t push your luck to far.Just enjoy the few remaining months,so. that you go to where you belong(village politics)- Zambia has been misrepresented by this Pathetic Factor(PF) because of characters like Sata your CEO and you low-calibre Useless MPs and Minister.
This Kapyongo chap must be abducted by Boko Haram
Ni kaponya,dull chap
Chipyango!yayayayayaya
“to be civil”,jajajajajajaja
We have more than 50 years to make people like this minister to understand reall issues of facing our country. Mr Kampyongo talks of the president having many letters to read, this does not give any impression that this man can see beyond the forest giving credence to what Sata himself called his lieutenants “USELESS”
His master knows very well that the moment the constitution is finalized he is out of plot 1 because he cannot make the numbers of 50+1. This Kampyongo should not talk about numbers because he does not understand the statistics that took his master to plot 1.
Strange how Mr. Kampyongo likes to talk about the POA as if he understands it. As long as your master does not release the new constitution in time you will also run to the opposition after you’re fired at anytime. You will wish that if only the police read and understood the Act!
Suntwe
Exactly my point.Typical of Africans they cant see beyond their nose.
1.KK enjoyed ruling under an oppressive constitution till he was voted out and FTJ used the same constitution to abuse his rights.
2FTJ refused to give us a pipo driven constitution till he was forced out of power and Mwanawasa used the same constitution to abuse his rights by among others forming an illegal task force to harrass him.
3.Mwanawasa and his henchman George Kunda failed to give us a pipo driven constitution
4.Come RB.He mocked pipo’s demands for a pipo driven constitution till he lost power and is now being prosecuted by Nhito appointed by Sata.If RB had given us a pipo driven constitution he would have been reporting to an Inspector General of Police appointed by and answerable to parliament…
Continued from 14.1
Forget about the present lot giving us a pipo driven constitution. If they can hack each other with pangas just in persuit of power you think they can give us pipo driven constitution? There only relevance is to act as a further example of how short sighted an African is.We shall have the last laugh when thy are no longer in power and are having their rights abused by their victors.
No politician will, can give you a 50+1 clause. Even Levi P M (mhsrip) was against the clause. Thats why Chipiimo jr. is calling for a neutral caretaker. All politicians are wolves in sheep skin especially ka HH and Nevers. Even me i wouldnt be stupid to give you a 50+1. Just find another method of dislodging Sata. But mind you , he came to steal, kill and destroy. The only thing to defeat him is death. Mark my words
The lack of intelligence displayed by these PF Ministers is just unbelievable. I cant believe a cabinet minister would be quoted saying those words in a national newspaper. Boko Haram or whatever the hell you are, bring back our girls and take PF with you.
NO CONSTITUTION NO PF period
kamyongo, stop threatening, we want the constitution, this country has democracy and the president did promise a people driven constitution, now what, we want it; i join the millions of people that want it,
Declaring Psalm 91 and the blood of Jesus over Dr Mumba, family, MMD and Zambia.
