Police in Lusaka conducted an early morning raid on Saturday at the residence of former Defence Minister Geoffrey Mwamba in Kabulonga.

Heavily armed police officers led by Provincial Criminal Investigations Officer a Mr Mbale arrived at Mr Mwamba’s house with an arrest warrant for assault.

Family members informed the police that Mr Mwamba was not home and that he had travelled to the Copperbelt.

The officers did not believe the explanation by Mr Mwamba’s family and demanded that they enter the house and conduct a physical search for the Kasama PF MP.

Lawyer Sakwiba Sikota who was on the scene demanded to see the arrest warrant before any action could take place.

Police discovered that Mr Mwamba was not home and requested that he reports to Matero Police on Tuesday at 11:30 Hours.

Mr Mwamba is accused of assaulting his worker at his Arizona Marketing after they differed over fuel consumption.

  1. I doubt if this is about assault charges here. There is more to it. Is this what we will being seeing every day not development?

    • What I would like to know is does the police arrive heavily armed at the houses of every Zambian citizen that commits assault? This is abuse of law and intimidation. We have never had this kind of intimidation in the history of Zambia.Something must be done. This has to stop.

    • These are the consequences for GBM for remaining quiet when he was in government and such arocities were being committed to others. You deserve it Mr GBM for you accept violence as part of your life

    • The Zambian police are just hopeless, dont they know that GBM has tunnels and trenches as hide outs at his home. He knows how to use his money and he will make sure he reports at the police station first thing on monday…..mwachepa sana

    • GBM must go to jail if convicted of assault. He should not be allowed to “buy” his freedom as the so-called rich and politically powerful do. If he has to pay, let the money go to Mundai and let ZRA tax it so that all Zambians can be compensated for the abuse from this GBM chap. But the police should not have politicised the issue by going for a “raid” armed to the teeth, or maybe they know the man to be capable of using more than abusive language and bear hands.

    • Whereas, I do not have much symphathy for GBM, I must ask the question: why did the Zambia Police NOT take a similar position of raiding Kazimu Sata’s home when he was reported for “assaulting” the journalist (Zyambo). Is Zyambo less of a citizen compared to this assaulted employee?

    • Arrest that savage! he just can’t go around beating up people. If his wife enjoys his beatings it doesn’t mean everyone else does.

      Beat him also muchilufumo!

    • Indeed this raises eyebrows!
When on earth did we have some one raided at home for an assault case?

Trumped charges for espionage I guess?

GBM should have professionals go round the compound/ yard again, lest they have planted implicating documents that may justify his being imprisoned and cut off from re-contesting bye- elections.

Hope we are not going into a police state??? God help us.

    • When my friend assaulted some one last year, they just told him to go to woodlands police station, he never went there and the case was finally resolved and its over. But this looks like there is more to it than what meet the eye.

    • It is amazing how Zambians have become so political. How can we see politics and the HAND OF PF in everything the police do? I think too many people have too much idle time on their hands to always be spinning conspiracy theories on blogs.

It is like we can longer have a case of “pure criminality” by which ZP has the mandate to pursue and make culprits account. NO, we can’t accept that because we are proud Zambians who see everything through a political prism!

This guy beat up his employee like a kindergarten bully—and this is not the first time he has done this! The victim reports CHIDUMBO to the police, and the police conclude that GBM has a case to answer. So they go after his @ss and some people see politics at play in that? WOW! Is the poor worker playing politics too?

    • GBM you should have known and acted better than this. You know Sata and company are after you like a pack of wild dogs after a duicker. Why play the fool and proverbially run into a den of lions. The formation against you is formidable. The controller of Police and OP, Sata is Presido. Your arch enemy’s (Fred) friend is DPP (Mutembo) and also owns a government supported Post to turnish and rip your character – watch the headlines henceforth. Another enemy (Kabimba) is Minister of Judiciary. Few men have faced or rather voluntarily steped in such a trap. If I were you GBM, I would in this period when the this trying period, I would just be found in Church and would abide by Cap 87 (Penal Code), Traffic, Drugs, Corruption Acts. And would have zero girl friend.

    • We all receive police call outs for such cases, tefyo?

Not morning raids: they should not use ‘small’ cases to do ‘big’ actions.

Awe bane twila supota fye icina mpofu

    • The Zambian police are just hopeless, dont they know that GBM has tunnels and trenches as hide outs at his home. He knows how to use his money and he will make sure he reports at the police station first thing on monday…..mwachepa sana

    • Doesn’t take much to make you laugh does it black coffee? Sesame street jokes and thats wry humour to you? Good grief.

  2. GBM is a very bad chap when it comes to dealing with other beings especially his workers. The man is very abuseful. I wonder why some people even support this chap in the name of being rich.

Get closer to this street chap, you will know how bad he is. That is why in my views the chap does not deserve to be a leader. I know some bloggers will say no he is this and that. But there are many who are this and that but behave well.

This chap is abuseful, physically rough and has no heart for others where money is concerned. If he want to be a leader he must change. But I wonder if he can.

    • Abusive naimwe not abuseful. You even repeatedly use “abuseful” kwati mule wamya.

He is abusive even to his wife. It’s sad I must say.

    • Charlie Kays MCS is also ‘abuseful’, so is Summer Kamimba, so is Willie Nsanda and many other PF ‘people’. Its a trait in PF, maybe a quality/qualificationeven

    • Ati This chap is abuseful, physically rough ….in Zed to call someone ‘Chap’ especially a big man like GBM is a big insult ka!!?? hahahahahaha

  3. But why you dont act in the same manner to everyone who reports assault cases in the community, to poor people you say you have transport, you have no man power now with GBM all the resorces where being used, how come?

  4. Very bad development for our big man GBM. that boy should be caged too.
    nikabolala. elyo akka samuna nkunda.
Mr mwango sata. leave this man alone. Sampa will not make it kasama same as UPND
    will not make it 2016 . i tell U

  5. This question still remains relevant: Why do the cops move in swiftly now that he dumped government in preference of Sosala???!!! Yes, he is known to be violent but what about the violence he committed while still in Govt? I don’t understand this!!

  6. It is typical of GBM to beat up and insult his workers. Some of us who have dealt with him knows this dark side of him.The guy can insult in bemba.

  7. whats wrong with charlie katongo and kawimbwa? they sends police to raid GBM, for what?,,, ,,, GBM slapped a chief, kawalala,, lisholi, kabolala!,,,, there is no case here to warrant a house raid!! GBM“s ex-empoyee is a chief who was rightly slapped for forgery,

  8. If it where a police call out to a mere individual, ati leta ya fuel. But political issues you are safe.GBM mukamba, give me his job and i’ll stomach all your blows….

  9. You are that man who sponsered PF in to power. You are the same man that made sure HH faced the wrath of PF for saying that PF is immbeded with berret millitia. You are that same man who endorsed 2016 for Sata.

    • @ZP(Zabwino Palibe),
And he is the one that unleashed the rotten Zambia Air Force planes to terrorise and intimidate the Lozis for no apparent reason. Let him have a taste of his own medicine.

  10. You people don’t get it.this isn’t about GBM.It’s about abuse of Law.As soon as you disagree with Charles Katongo he has the power to send armed police after you. This is how Hitler started. As long as it didn’t affect them people didn’t mind what happened before they knew it disaster also came on their doorsteps. Zambia needs serious prayers I don’t see a way out but the hand or act of God.Infact I think Charles Katongo is too sick to be doing all this,it must be Fred Mmembe and Kabimba behind this.

  11. ZAMBIA IS A FULLY FLEDGED DICTATORSHIP!!!
    Why G.B.M?
There are lots of Criminals in Zambia, ones that have unlawfully discharged Firearms @ election rallys, those who harassed H.H, self confessed P.F, terrorisists like Chumbwe, & many other P.F. Thugs that have NEVER been arrested / charged, & still roam free to Terrorise Citizens.
Sata is really behaving like a Playground Bully, who once You fall out with, will NOT allow you to play with his football, & makes your life in School Hell.
Personally I had so much hope for P.F, when they were Elected to power, & despite initial mistakes, believed they would learn from their shortfalls, & become better rulers. Unfortunately P.F, as a Government is Destructive & beyond redemption!

  12. Whereas, I do not have much symphathy for GBM, I must ask the question: why did the Zambia Police NOT take a similar position of raiding Kazimu Sata’s home when he was reported for “assaulting” the journalist (Zyambo). Is Zyambo less of a citizen compared to this assaulted employee?

  13. So this is the best charge the PF could come up with against GBM, a storm in a cup. We all thought they would come up with some brand political and corruption scandal that would bring down the house and the tummy of GBM, only for them to surround his house for alleged assault (not that physical or verbal assault is not a serious charge but I expected something much bigger).

Bo Sikota, kela muchembahala malume, limbi nikwa milelu… all those many years of court time defending political victims from political dictators.

  14. I wish to point out that I’m not a fun of GBM but what PF police has done should be condemned by all right thinking Zambians. Rampant abuse of power by PF govt has become the order of the day.

    • Please this time cage this man.He beat his wife to the point of death. Now she has a spine problem. He beat his sister in law twice. He beat his gaurd. He beat up his drivers.
For how long zambia?POLITICS ASIDE PLEASE CAGE HIM NOW.Enough is enough soon he will kill someone.

  15. GBM also should learn to do things correctly and to control his short temper. There was absolutely no reason to be violent. He could have used other means to retrieve his cash. Living in a society where security forces are at the beck and call of the president, I think he should be more careful. But it seems PF people thrive only in a chaotic and violent environment. Probably what’s happening to him is all in a day’s work and very normal.

  16. it is not political for the officers to search for GBM at his residence but the duty of the police to arrest or rather apprihend any wrong doer or culprit more especially when you are requested to report at any police station and u don,t show up.A public figure like GBM must lead by example not to take the law into his own hands.in conclusion that man shud be arrested no matter how big he is and how much money he has.there is nothing political about that.

  17. Under normal circumstances matters related to assaults would have been reported to the Police. The Police could have advised the complainant to take the matter to Court after scrutinising a Medical Report.

But the behaviour of a selected clique of Police is a reflection of political persecution ordered from the highest seat of Government.

Zambians are disappointed for voting into power a strange human species that bites the fingers that fed it. The people of Zambia are on the side of GBM and his family. God Hear Our Prayers.

  18. When has the police ever raided the home of a person who allegedly assaulted another person? They’re treating this like he’s some sort of mass murdering rapist. This just shows it’s clearly a personal issue that the president has. It’s scary to see that we have so many ‘yes men’ in positions of authority. This is blatant abuse of power and disregard of the law. I suppose this is what we should be expecting to live in a police state for the next few years where Sata’s word is Law.

  19. Forget GBM… Who is cute light skinned officer in the center? He can hand cuff me all day every day!

  20. Mr Sikota, Sakwiba, you need to be sending UKWA a ‘thank you’ note. He has created a booming business for you!

  21. GBM is well known for assaulting workers and recall how he nearly killed his wife. Although politically motivated, this is good for justice. He has always escaped on political or financial grounds. You can fool people all the time.

    • If GBM had not assaulted this worker and thereby provided a cause of action for the criminal machinery to grind, he would have been busy with his facebook account and plotting how to outwit that old foxy serpent. Alas,he has gotten into the serpent’s lair and for all you care, he is already in the serpents gridlock! And by this fang swipe, the cobra bares its fangs to the Chitimukulu. GBM ulichipuba.

  22. This is stupid and politically motivated, why didn’t the police go raid Richard Kazala house after he badly assaulted the girlfriend?

PF need to leave this petty issues and concentrate on developing the nation and correcting the blunders which they have caused so far…they have better issues to waste time on, like the KCM saga instead of wasting national resources chasing after GBM
