  1. Lungu really looks good on that saluting dais. I may be wrong but with just a bit of TLC this guy can make a formidable contender…
    Good on him.

    • Very nice pictures. What an honor it must be for Lungu to officiate at this historic event.I can’t help feeling sorry for Sata who fought so hard to be president only to get sick and miss out on this momentous occasion!

    • With no DOUBT….. we found a president EDGAR LUNGU as president. The man is sober, and humbled.
I am speech less. If I loose job or not, am not leaving this computer!

    • Do we now have Chines in the Military. Look at picture 10, who is that standing with Banda in millitary gear??

    • For sure for now,,, Ba Eddie Lungu for President…sad for ba Sata who is in ICU!!

wow!!! ,,Thabo Mbeki once a mutendere resident,,, welcome back home my man,,

    • There is no need for President Sata to be part of this, he is doing something better for the betterment of zambia

      Thanks

    • After 50 years of Independence the elderly who fought for this country are penniless and starving.. I called Zambia today retired Zambians are starving!! My 90 yrs old stepdad has no food TODAY he is starving after working hard for “peanuts” in the mines more for than 25 years!!!
His eldest son is also working in the mines for peanuts… and cannot afford to help the poor old man!!

SHAME ON YOU ZAMBIA FOR NEGLECTING THOSE THAT MADE YOU!!

    • I’m sorry but Edgar Lungu for me isn’t suitable for Presidency. We need a person who’s sober 99.9% of the each day. He chewed his clients money and he’s never sober that’s enough to pass on this guy. He may be intelligent for 2 hours hes not drunk but that’s not enough as the office of the President is effectively 24/7. Lets keep on searching.

    • @ msana wanzili Why can’t Edgar Lungu be President if he is not drunk for 2 hours a day?

It will be better than a King Cabbage that is mentally incapacitated 24 hours a day!

    • Very nice pics.I love how humble Edgar come out and represented our President HEMCS.The looser in all this is the freemason HH who never delights in peace and unity which God has blessed Zambia with.God remember our President you have given us.Remember ba Sata in Jesus name,Amen

    • After 50 years of independence, there is very little sign that Zambia will manage to manufacture automated machines on its own.

Africa is increasingly becoming a place where you make a lot of money and hide it in the Western. If politicians are in the fore front of hiding money in the West, what hope is there that foreign investors will want to keep their profits in the country?

The fact that politicians are afraid of keeping money in their countries shows that they are not honest in their national duty are dead scared that people might rise against them .

So why implement a system you are so much afraid of?

    • @The Bricklayer: Come on, that’s some Female Commander in Pic #10, in a wig??? It’s not a Chinese person. Though would not be bad. Considering number of Zambian Chinese. Very soon it will be possible. We will have many in military. Wow you realize analyzed the pictures. Well done.

    • @The Bricklayer:

Indeed, there would be nothing wrong with that. Someone may look Chinese, when in fact they are Zambian. If anything, this one to me looks more of a Zambian Service woman wearing a wig of some sort.

      What do you think?

  2. I ve alwayz knwn tht Zambia hd NO identity wat I ddnt kno is tht it wz ths serious-jst tune 2 ZNBC & u wil b shocked tht thez NTHNG zambian abt wats hapenng-those thngs r done everywhere…u mean the organisers failed frm all provinces to come up wth sthng zambian???

  3. Where is Bashi Nono? Event appears well organised from the photos regardless. Good to see Thabo and Festus in attendance.

  4. Charlotte Scott is stunning!!! Guy Scott is well married, Ba Sata too. Wish and I miss Muka Yama Kaseba…. that stadium would have been beautified with her perfume!!!
Look at Kankasa, so elegant. XoXoXo
With all the joy, Thank GOD KK is in best healthy, what a figure on this occasion.

    • You want us to teach you diplomacy? Did you see any Sata there, don’t annoy us, we are in celebratory mood. Lets just be happy for once.
I am not PF, but Stella Libongani looks good, and has been so impressive. Imagine all this peace, ZP must be having good leadership in a long time.

  5. Pic 1. Says it all! Real patriots taking up Arms to protect our Land! God Bless them.
They have the same weapons we had at National Service!
    Pic3. Excellent ZAF, better weapons,
    Pic16. Lungu, excellent Zambian Drapery!
President Kaunda fabulous as always and bringing Gravitas to Jubilee!
Pic 41. That diplomat on far right, with his bouquet turned in to him…..Recall back home!
Charlotte fresh and lovely. She can hold on to that dress and recycle at Xmas, has Xmas colours in it.

    It’s all so beautiful…….!

  6. Isaba lya nsalu over Dr Kaunda and Acting president Lungu, made my day!

I find this piece of cloth dignifying… Please continue the practice of wearing it…
    Congrats mother Zambia
    Zambeziland… forward with prosperity…
    God bless us all.

  7. Kondwani is having a good game in India’s match right now. And that Chisamba Lungu awe mwe…
    What a day !!!
    Yours Jubilee LT president

  8. Zambians you amaze me. You don’t see anything wrong with a minister acting as president when the vice president is there?
    What exactly are you celebrating?
The vehicles, artillery you are showcasing are made by bazungus
The suits and ties you are celebrating are made by bazungus
The wine you are drinking is made by bazungus
The fireworks, the flags are all a product of bazungus
The ARVs you drink at night are made by bazungus
To date Zambia is yet to find a solution to the number one killer of our children—Malaria. We are waiting on bazungus to continue supplying us.
It would have made sense if we would have used this time to showcase our inventions in product design, scientific research, democracy, education and so forth. But there is NONE.

    • … and you forgot to mention that you ran to bazunguland (without contributing anything) after getting free education in Zambia.

      Crocodile tears!

    • We are made to believe that.
      But it aint true.
      Read your history, mwe mbutma.

All you know is self deprecation. Bazungu must have trained you well; to worship him all the time.

Very little of what you itemized where actually inventions of bazungu!
Someni history written by bazungu and you will discover they did not invent much except improve upon them. The Japs do that all the time, but you will never hear a Jap praising Americans. Sha!!

  9. This is really nice. Good to see our KK looking so fit and happy at this great event. Only too bad President Sata is missing. Lets pray for him to return in strength.

  10. Edgar Lungu has tasted more than enough and now as far as he is concerned there is no looking back, may be over his dead body. A real and bloody jostling for power is in the offing, it is said, ‘ give a —- an inch and he will demand for a mile’.

  11. Sata asebana batiii !!

He is embarrassed wherever he is !!!
Go Edgar go !! and where is President Kambwili Katemo !!hahahahaha.

    • Alitendeka abakulu. Ena ati pantu nine fimo fimo baKanabesa tamwaitambe bwino, tamwaingile kwisano! Icumi? Haaaa! Ukutula lilali, elyo namano nshi? Nomba mwamona alenwena menshi kuciku. Batila umwana ashumfwa, amenene umwefu kwikoshi.

  12. But why displaying that heavy weaponry on the independence day celebrations? Are we at war? Maybe Saulosi or Wanzelu will tell us that the armory was destined to western province to deal with separatists. I can see one pick truck with missiles ready to be fired. Am so concerned.

    • Why are you people always negative?
Didn’t you see South Africans showing the world what they Air force and Army is made of.

  13. @Mabisi, I agree with you. We should have seen a display of stones as a weapon of choice during the chachacha in the fight for our independence. We did not use this armory at that time to conquer the British. This display of missiles and heavy artillery at the jubilee celebrations I guess had an agenda which they didnt want to tell us. Where is Mushota to guide us?

  14. Pic #23, its not Ruto there. Correct it.
Good to be in a Zambia that is one nation. I love my country. Lets just work hard as Zambians.

  15. Im very proud to be a Zambia and to celebrate with my country men and women. For those unsang heroes who made it possible and died for us, I salute you, you are inspirational and the living testmony for us. For those who have chosen to shun this special occasional for cheap political mileage we say Zambia is bigger than the sum of all your political ambitions, propaganda, eccentric and ideologies. We wish you well in your political endeavours. The battle line is drawn. You want to rule this great nation but shun its birth. Weldone, come 2016 the people will say loudly through a ballot box as they have always done. The difference between mature politicians is that they leave all the dislikes they have and pay much attention to want is at hand. Zambia can not develop with trigger happy men.

  16. I am in tears. Only if i could be more humble and closer to the people, i was not going to be fired as SG and Minister of Justice. Sembe nine niliko. I am finished now. Edgar looks good for that position

    • Many times we appreciate what we look at, unless Acting President can follow the PF President’s governing style, never to argue with the bitter opposition, then I am completely for him to take over. Again, I pray, ‘Our father in heaven, I thank you for having granted my Country ZAMBIA a Grand Jubilee Celebrations. I also thank you for shaming the bloggers. I thank you also for allowing the President of Zambia to witness this in style and at ease in London. Now the President can come back home in style Continue to bless the present Cabinet and Zambia for ever more. In Jesus name I pray… AMEN… Thank you Jesus…’

  17. Edger Lung look very composed! Lovely pictures, thank you for the update LE. Bravo! It’s also good to see Zambian coming together hope this is the way forward than insulting between politicians. Unity is the key!

  18. Just worried about the dress code of our Head of State. KK who started it has abandoned those Safari Suits, but Mr. Grey Zulu is still stuck in them while our acting president is back in Safari. The Chinese have abandoned the Safari and check their levels of economic development. Tells you something, doesn’t it? Lets be careful with what we choose as our dress code.

  19. Thanks Ba LT for the pictures, looking forward to part 2, 3 or 4. The other online media news have nothing to say about today’s celebrations, what a shame. Happy 50th birthday Zambia.

  20. HH thot every thing will fell apart. He is disappointed kumwera president. Anzeru akumawa ati tsangalasa basi. Who will not be happy …………. lolololo!!!!!

  21. I THOUGH HH IS SMART BUT I GUESS HE IS JUST A SILLY MAN HOW CAN YOU DECIDE NOT TO ATTEND THIS EVENT WHEN IT IS JUST ABOUT THE COUNTRY EVEN YOU DONT AGREE WITH THE CURRENT GOVERNMENT. YOU HAVE REALLY LOT IT HOW DO PEOPLE THINK ABOUT YOU NOW. THIS IS A BE OCASSION DEAR FRIEND WHEN YOU SHOULD HAVE SHOWN THAT EVEN YOU DONT AGREE WITH CERTAIN ISSUES BUT THIS WAS FOR ALL ZAMBIANS.YES WE READ ABOUT YOUR VIEWS ABOUT THIS BUT YOU NEEDED TO PART OF THIS. I THINK YOU HAVE LOST IT AGAIN MATE…….I MIGH BE HERE IN UK BUT YOU NEEDED TO PART OF THIS CELEB.

  22. @CNP, do we have to follow what South Africans do? Is Zambia a colony of South Africa? If South Africa displayed such arsenal, then they were also wrong. Am only surprised that the looters were not deterred by the military arsenal.

  23. DR CHARLOTTE SCOTT LOOKS COOL. IT WOULD BE COOL TO HAVE CHARLOTTE SCOTT AS OUR NEXT FIRST LADY. GUYS CAN YOU QUICKLY CHANGE THE CONSTITUTION SO THAT GUY SCOTT CAN ALSO RULE ZAMBIA. HE HAS WORKED SO HARD FOR HIS COUNTRY HE DESERVES TO BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT.

  24. OVER ALL THESE ARE NICE PICTURES FOR AN HISTORICAL MOMENT. I WISH BA SATA WAS ALSO THERE WITH HIS RIB-CRACKING JOKES. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN MORE LIVELY.

  25. Thank you lord for the 50 years of peace we have endured and achieved. God bless mother Zambia and all its people regardless of origin.

  26. Good photos but where are pics of Lumumba Rd? We were told that street vendors were going to be removed. Was this another PF council lie? Show us pic because seeing is believing

  27. CONGRATULATIONS LT!!! WELL DONE. HH SHOULD BE COUNSELLED THAT HE NEEDS TO BE SEEN TO BE PATRIOTIC ON IMPORTANT OCCASSIONS SUCH JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS. HIS NEGATIVE COMMENTS ABOUT THE JUBILEE, HIS ABSENCE AT THE EVENTS AND IN THESE PICTURES SHOWS US THAT HE IS NOT PRESIDENTIAL MATERIAL AND IS VERY DIVISIVE.

ZAMBIANS ALWAYS STAND TOGETHER ON SUCH EVENTS. CONGRATULATIONS DR. NEVERS MUMBA. IN YOU TRULY THERE IS HOPE FOR ZAMBIA. THANK YOU FOR STANDING WITH ALL ZAMBIANS AND RESPECTING KK.

  28. Could you forgive Mr. Rupiya Banda for whatever wrongs he did while in office to mark the beginning of the new chapter in our Zambian politics. I feel sorry for Mr. Banda to be dragged to court every now and again. We are human beings bound to error. Forgiveness is not a crime, but one of God’s teachings. Dr. Chiluba died a sad man because of what befell on him after leaving office. Let us love one another. A word of caution to other leaders is that be mindful of whatever you are doing while in office. I hope even other Zambians will have that thought. Dragging former leaders to court dehumanizes them. It also happened to Dr. Kaunda. Please let us turn to a new leaf.

  29. @Analyst, you cant see that KK and Grey Zulu have now aged? KK in particular has lost part of his neck, his height has dwindled and he is supported by a walking stick. All that shows that his age has seriously advanced. Grey Zulu, please all the signs of age are all over his body. I dont even need to got into details.

  30. We Shall never Forget the Gallant nameless heroes who died and sacrificed for our Liberation. Those whose names have been reduced to the Archives The Julia Chikamonekas, Bare breasted in front of Monkton to demand a referendum, the Katilungus who led many miners strikes, Harry M. Nkumbula who lobbied the British colonialists in London. Those proud nameless Zambians who left their homes and villages to swell the numbers of underground activists, giving anything from bags of mealie meal, cassava goats and even themselves. Those who heard the call of Cha Cha Cha and made the country ungovernable burning all symbols of colonialism to make the British realise that Imperialism was no more. Our Fallen Heroes Zambia is 50. Your sacrifice was not in vain. We are Proud and Free! Long Live Zambia

  31. Lusaka Times, Well Done for Capturing Jubilee. Send out some photos of how ordinary Zambians did it also?

Saw some excerpts on Kumwesu on DSTV. Am Away from Zed right now so Thanks for the Pictures.

  32. Well Done Lusaka times. Is there a way you can make it easier for some of us to download all of them in a single click for an alternative (like a single compressed of zipped file containing all of them)?

  33. So, apart from KK’s shirt with “50” printed on it and Edgar Lungu’s chitenge with “1964 -2014” printed on, there is actually nothing on these photos (Part 1 and 2) showing or suggesting that this is Zambia’s Jubilee commemoration. Nothing. Why is this? Is it a case of photographers omitting something or what?? Weren’t any statues built anywhere? Any paintings anywhere? Any buildings built? Any orphanages or school or public facilities built to remember this milestone for Zambia, say along the lines of the freedom statue?? What is the relevance of the Army on Zambia’s jubilee to warrant this many photos and overshadow everything? Are these photos depicting political independence or military independence? Am I missing something here?
