Share

Christopher Katongo put his Zambia banishment behind him with a goal for Bidvest Wits on Saturday.

Katongo scored Its lone goal in their 2-1 home loss to SuperSport united in the 2014/2015 Telkom Cup quarterfinals

The Zambia striker equalised in the 12th minute and almost added a brace in the 19th minute but his effort came off the woodwork.

The goal was his first competitive goal for the clubs since joining them on a free transfer after leaving Chinese club Henan Jianye.

Katongo started and completed the match.

The striker was recently expelled from Zambia camp prior the teams 2015 Africa Cup Group F home qualifier against Niger on October 15 in Ndola due to tactical differences with coach Honour Janza.

    • Corruption is a very big factor in the divisions we are seeing in the Patriotic Front today. And as experience has shown, corrupt elements always want to turn to the tribe for protection. This is seen all over Africa. So, corrupt elements are usually very tribalistic. And this is why today you are seeing a tendency towards tribalism in the Patriotic Front – it is simply meant to service their corruption and protect them politically.

    • @CatPower hahahahahaha kwena you are sinner. On a Sunday sure? You gave a wrong example, he is good at what you said, that is why he was fired from camp. And you advise him to be consistent in bed-work?

    • I changed my mind about Chris Katongo, and I apologize.
Ba Goddy Miyanda told us to say “sorry” to people we offend sometimes. And this time Chris needs friends.
Mwandi mwaiche Katongo just continue scoring, both on the pitch and bedroom. And encourage umwaice Jet Li Feligo, he is even better player than

    • @Nostradamus kasabaila iwe! Don’t you have time to be quiet? Mulekula muli bafyashi! To you are a political genius, scientific genius, economic genius, agriculture genius, football wizard advisor, basketball genius, marriage councillor, rocket scientist, accountant, weather analyst, engineer, driver. You must be a joker.

    • @The One,
You are right, so many talents Yama. Tuli bantu sana ifwe. And Zambia national team need more talented players like Chisamba Lungu who has played all position except goal-keeper. How many times did I ask Chris Katongo to be a goal-keeper and Mweene play as striker he always scores penalties.

  2. That is the idea. Do not stare too long at the closed door; there is usually something else waiting for you in the sunshine! Keep up the good work Sir Chris!

  3. LT: is This News???. Who Cares? The Guy failed Zambians because of his unacceptable Behavior. Instead of being a role model to young Zambian footballers?? He was busy with nonsense activities. We now request that you stop report about Katongo. Moreover his team lost so what’s there to report.
Please Post Jubilee celebration pictures from Zambians at home and all living in diaspora. That will be Interesting than this KATONGO NONSENSE PLEASE.

    • @Prince why commenting if you don’t care. Leave the big man alone. He has made a name for himself which you will never have. He has money more than you. He led Zambia to win AFCON for the first time. He has played in Arabic countries, China and SA which you will never do. If he errored, he is human just like yourselves you hypocrites. You are worse sinners and womanisers than him.

    • @ The One?? What Money has he got?? do you know where I am writing from or what I do?? I was writing to LT that it’s not News?? not Katongo as a person?? so what’s your beef? why should LT market him when he has nothing to offer?? reporting about the loss of his team?? Please we have better exiting News than the failures of Katongo. So shut up and mind your own blogging.

    • @ The One: can you count The number of times you’ve said “has been”? That’s the person you are trying to defend? A useless Has Been? Well guess what? He has been kicked out of our national team and therefore has been classified as a nonentity and non news worthy figure!

    • Right on what?? That Katongo’s team lost?? what rubbish is that?? News to report?? LT should stop marketing failures?? he is gone and we don’t want him in the national team. Damn check out the way he thinks, very dull and pompous. he thinks he owns the national team?? He comes in as sub running for the captain band?? nonsense. you keep your loyalty @Uwatambile Baskopo to katongo ok. Not me and care less for him. he is useless. Worship if you want not me. so keeop ur shallow thinking in SA. coz can see your flag.

  4. Zambian strikers that we glorify nowadays who cannot even dribble with the ball. Did you ever see Kalusha in his hey days? Or better still Alex Chola or Godfrey Chitalu? Even if they never won the Africa Cup but gentlemen at the stadium there was entertainment yakababa! These Chris Katongos, Jacob Mulengas cannot even dribble past one player unless yama lucky. For the sake of the Gabonese disaster our players needed to win the Africa Cup but ma penalties could have gone either way and that is why since then we have gone downhill because palibe talent or skill. Personally I do not even want us to qualify for Afcon because that will force us to do a proper purging of the Chipolopolo team. This current team is too inconsistent to see any hope in it.

  5. I AM A VERY BIG FAN OF CHRIS KATONGO. BUT, I DO NOT CONDONE INDISCIPLINE BEHAVIOR. KATONGO IS SUPPOSED TO BE A ROLE MODEL AS OPPOSED TO SNEAKING OUT OF THE CAMP SITE TO GO AND HAVE SEX WITH A PROSTITUTE. THAT CAN BE DONE AFTER THE WORK HAS BEEN ACCOMPLISHED. AND THIS IS THE ONE MOST PROBLEM WITH AFRICANS- DISCIPLINE.

  6. Congrats on the goal. But looks like he is still jinxed, no one else fron his team could score after him and they ended up loosing the game, like Zambia used to.

  7. Ummmm… insinuations here. The timing of this article makes me think perhaps we are trying to be told Katongo went back to losing team after being ejected from the national team, or that Katongo can actually still score despite being ejected from the national team. Either way, the timing makes it a loaded article that is prone to invite the vitriol and tug-of-war that I am witnessing on this blog. I will not hold on to any side of the tether.
