Education Minister Michael Kaingu says Voluntary Counseling and Testing-VCT- is the best way of curbing the spread of HIV -AIDS and living health lives is the advent of the killer virus.
Dr Kaingu, who has undertaken an HIV test, has since called on all leaders at various levels in community to lead the way in fighting the spread of the disease.
He says being HIV positive is no longer a death sentence because people are able to access treatment from government health facilities freely.
Dr Kaingu was speaking during the commemoration of this year’s national VCT day in Mwandi.
This year’s theme is being held under the theme ‘universal access to annual HIV testing and counseling.
He first took it privately and then publicly. If he was positive he would have kept it to himself.
How can he be positive when he has two wives? It is those with one wife and a chain of girl friends who test posotive
Has Kaingu asked his daughter Iris to take the HIV test? She hasn’t led a very clean life.
..situations were you privately/secretly go for a test(twice) just to be sure that you are fine and then you come out publicly to do the test and challenging your colleagues….nonsense
…..the testing is absolutely a private matter….so what if a leader goes public for a test and results come out either positive or negative…??…in 1987 Kaunda thought it would help by revealing that his son Masuzgo died of AIDS…. but to the contrary….by 1993, the statistics of AIDS infected persons in Zed then almost doubled to that of 1986….so whether leaders go for tests or not that’s irrelevant, its the mindset of the general populous towards this dreadful disease which matter…..
Ask Iris and Teddy Malekani to also do the test. It will show that you care about what you are talking about.
No Kaingu, nensoni tawakatumone. After what your dota did to your name, you still claim to be a leader? Shame on you and your appointing authority. In a country where there are serious morals, you should have led by example; resigned in shame….
