President Edgar Lungu has released three male prisoners who were jailed for three years for publication of false news with intent to cause fear and alarm to the general public.

According to a statement released to the media by State House today , President Lungu, in exercise of his Prerogative of Mercy pursuant to Article 59 (a) of the Constitution of Zambia CAP 1 of the Laws of Zambia, has signed the Order of Release.

The release is in line with the request by the Zambia Prisons Service to release the three prisoners who were part of the group agitating for the secession of Barotseland.

The release of the trio under the Presidential Amnesty Release is also in line with the President’s olive branch pursuant to his proclamation of Sunday, 18th October 2015 as the day of Repentance, Prayer and Fasting throughout the country.

The President will be releasing more prisoners under Presidential Amnesty on October 24th 2015 during Zambia’s 51st independence anniversary.

The released prisoners are: Wasilota Sikwibele aged 35; Nayota Mwenda, 32 and Boris Muziba, 37.

  2. Now let us as Zambians start working. Also we need to be repenting for not using God’s blessings wisely. Like his land and minerals.

  3. But zoona ba Professor fimi fimo is aesthetically repugnant! She should pray hard during the prayers called by Chagwa because she must have sinned to god somehow for the good old lord to endower her with such an abundant wealth of ugliness!

  4. Sikwibele and the group, plz say no to being used by disgruntled failed politicians…! Hope you have learnt a lesson…! Lu itumezi Bo inonge kwa ku susueza mueteleli wa naha kulukulula micaha Ba…! Kozo!

  5. It looks like Barotse issue needs more dialogue. It has advanced beyond arresting individuals. Release all under the same fight for freedom.

    God bless your wisdom
