President Edgar Lungu has described his six day working visit to the Copperbelt province as successful. The President said that his visit to the province helped resolve most of the issues on the Copperbelt and added that he is scheduled to visit all provinces in the country.

Meanwhile, the President has announced that he will travel to Tanzania for the inauguration of that country’s’ new President. The President said this on Wednesday when he arrived in Lusaka from the Copperbelt.

And speaking to Journalists, Special Assistant to the President, Amos Chanda said that President Lungu has secured all jobs at Luanshya Copper Mines.

Mr. Chanda said that the President has also laid firm ground, for meaningful dialogue between the mines and the labour movement, at Konkola Copper Mines -KCM- and Mopani Copper Mines -MCM.

Mr Chanda said that the President has been assured that job losses at KCM and MCM will be the last resort.

    • If Lungu has to come close to me i can slap him in his face. This useless president likes travelling. Did Kikwete come for his inaugration. edgar is folish and useles.

    • @Hilda, don’t slap people even if they are lazy, better to say kuti wa mukana. Edgar didn’t do any work in Kitwe and he is finding reasons to avoid his office meetings etc.

    • Hildah Malama: The president has agreed with KCM and MCM that only those getting above USD10,000 per month should be pruned because they are very few and also cast only one vote

    • If hilda malama came close to me I be so nauseated I will vomit. By the way hilda malama how is your step mother?

    • Which resort was used when the mines were laying off workers? Bwana Chanda, you have not said anything new, just playing with words. My conclusion is that no turnaround by the mines and basically nothing tangible was achieved by the Presidential Team.

    • At Hildah Malama exactly my thoughts. I would never shake hands with Lungu, never. He’s nothing, useless and what not. Ine am never going to be associated with a failure even through a handshake.

    • This traveling is the one. Has he been informed that the money he is worsting could have bought computers to avoid our children, especially the girl child, walking home at 02 00hrs from PF lead Grade Exams.

  1. Go and enjoy and make more allowance after a very good job on the copperbelt. We need such guys for presidency for sleepy Zambians. Enjoy their money mwana while they shout “PA BWATOO”.

  2. this is what we say going round circles; the President had a meeting with Luanshya Copper Mines with the Unions in attendance but when it comes to KCM and MCM he whats to say “i don’t want to be seen as if i am Interfering” no consistency at all. How is it going to put people at ease if you say Job loses will be the last resort when the mines have already indicated and shown figures that they have reached last resort: Lungu should have given mines policy. 1. He should have assured them that Government will pay VAT refunds owed to them. 2. Should have indicated a uniform mine tax for a considerable time period to enable proper planing. 3. should have bargained on viable rates at which mines will pay for the imported Power.

what happened was just POLITICS its no wonder Nawakwi said…

    • We were about to stone him if showed up anywhere on the Copper-belt. Good riddance

Let him go where no one will bother bout him……fonko fonko no vision.

  3. There goes the globe trotter. Just wait and see what Mopani will do. They are most likely moving the most valuable equipment and anything that they can lay hands on. Then announce they cannot manage to run the mine anymore. What will this broke government do when its already failing to pay salaries for the civil servants.

  4. Magufuli is taking power in Tz while Zambia has two power crises -one of electric power the other of leadership.Go and don’t come back Lungu.

  5. Ati we will reposess the Mine….and give it to the jelabos..You have failed to run Zesco and you think you can manage the mine?
