Zambia’s Ambassador to the United States Palan Mulonda has assured World Boxing Council Silver Bantum Weight Champion Catherine Phiri of the country’s support as she faces World Boxing Council (WBC) bantamweight gold title champion Yazmine Rivas this Saturday.

This is according to a press statement released to the media by Patricia M. Littiya
First Secretary (Press & Public Relations) Embassy of Zambia.

Ambassador Mulonda, who spoke to Catherine Phiri by telephone at her base in Mexico today, assured her of the nation’s support during tomorrows bout.

Catherine is accompanied to Mexico by Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) Manager Christopher Malunga and her coach Mike Zulu.

Ambassador Mulonda, who is also accredited to Mexico on non-residential basis encouraged the trio in Mexico to fly the Zambian flag high as the country was looking forward to a win.

This is the second time in the history of Zambia that a boxer has attempted to challenge for a Gold Belt the first one being the late Lottie Mwale.

Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions (OQBP) manager Christopher Malunga thanked Ambassador Mulonda for the support and assured him that he was confident that Catherine will carry the day as she had trained extensively.

    • Guys you read below those beauty boobs “Tecate”, Tecate is good beer I can recommend to Edgar Lungu. Taste like a mixture of Mosi with Rhinosttr4

  1. Go Catherine Go…we are praying for you and wishing you all the best of Lucky. With God on your side ,all things are including a Win is possible

    • How can you pray for a fight? Ba Edward naimwe kushikwata amano, what do you think Riva is such a sinner that God will use Catherine to torment her? You pray for miracles, but Catherine don’t need your fasting to win, she is a hardworking girl. Mulemutela fye ama shamo.

  2. ….just by being there she is already a winner….im sure locals are busy asking where is she from…busy checking from the Atlas…..did you know that even in the UK very few people know about Zambia…you have to mention notorious countries like, Congo or South Africa to give them an idea…..tourism could have been neck to neck with copper on foreign earnings only if we marketed our country well like Catherine has done….

  3. Finally a zambian fighting for real world title. She is a winner already. Only the great Lottie Gundazani Mwale came close to this and there has never been another.

  4. Go zambia. From time lottie attempted now its our sister who is carring our zambian flag. We are behind you catherine beat that white lady.
