Mopani Coppers mines is to create more than four thousand jobs once the sinking of three shafts at a cost of one point one billion United States dollars are completed.

Meanwhile, Mopani Chief Executive Officer Johan Jensen says the mining firm has designed the WAY strategy to enhance efficiency and profitability.

ZNBC’s Musenge Mulimba reports that the one point one billion United States dollars shafts are being built in Kitwe at Mindola, Synclinorium and Mufulira deep.

Chief Government Spokesperson Chishimba Kambwili says the one point one billion united states dollars project is a clear demonstration of the confidence that Glencore has in the Zambian economy under the leadership of president Edgar Lungu.

Mr. Kambwili was speaking in Kitwe during the launch of the Mopani way industrial theatre presentation at the little theater.

And Mopani has invested about seventy thousand US Dollars in renovating the Kitwe little theatre.

Mr. Kambwili urged all stakeholders mainly the employees, union leaders and contractors to support Mopani Copper mines.

Meanwhile, Mopani Copper Mine Chief Executive Officer Johan Jensen said the Mopani Ways is the strategy the company intends to employ to overcome the current challenges being faced.

  1. People of the world WAKE UP! We have been robbed in front of our nose. Stealing AND Lying has been the common attitude for big corporations all around the world, enslaving humanity into scarcesness so they can control us with all.

  2. “I never pictured my country to have been taken so much advantage of because of the ignorance of people and leaders……….?”

  3. Promising is one thing and actualising is another.
But its very stupid to criticize a good idea before its implemented.
For now we wait , hope and see.

  4. WAY strategy to enhance “efficiency and profitability”…Mopani CEO Johan Jensen says.

When a director utters those two words the first thing that comes to my mind is lean management and modernization…which means better skilled manpower. Does Zambia have the skills set for these roles…that 4000 could be majority foreigners but to an empty tin like BUFFOON Kambwili the headline is more important.
This also leads me to why the govt should be to quick to interfere with the mines, when jobs are being cut ..eager to cut tax deals and subsidies with them….we surely need a new generation of technocrats to negotiate deals that balance the interests of business and taxpayers. Too many dull politicians eager to shake hands for crumbs.

  5. @Jay Jay, I agree with you!The problem with our politicians,Civil Society and Journalists in our country is that they don’t ask details of what they are told! They rush to reproduce what they have heard and start praising or condemning with out detail. They say “the devil is in the detail” and yet we ignore all that! Even as a reader I wish to know how many of those jobs will require crafts certificates, diplomas,University degrees and how many will be for non-skilled workers? That is when we can have am idea of jobs being created and can fathom how much incomes our people will be getting to impact positively on the economy interms of their purchasing power and reduced unemployment! Not this simplicity in treating national affairs!!

  6. JOURNALISTS CAN’T ASK. THEY HAVE VERY LITTLE OR NO KNOWLEDGE ABOUT MOST OF THE SUBJECTS AS THEY ARE NOT SPECIALISED IN ANY FIELD OF ACTIVITIES, APART FROM SOCCER.

“And Mopani has invested about seventy thousand US Dollars in renovating the Kitwe little theatre.”
SINCE INDEPENDENCE IT ONLY KITWE WITH A THEATRE. WHY CAN’T ZAMBIA WAKE TO CONSTRUCTING MODERN THEATRES AND OPRAH HOUSES. THESE THINGS ARE INTEGRATED WITH TOURISM JUST LIKE THEME PARKS, LEISURE CENTRES AND OPEN SPACE (PARKS) IN TOWNS. MOREOVER, THESE ARE MAIN SOURCES OF INCOME FOR LOCAL GOVERNMENTS. TROUBLE IS WE HAVE VILLAGE BUMPKINS FOR DECISION MAKERS. A THEATRE OR PARK TO THEM IS A WORST OF MONEY. IT’S SAD.

  7. 1. In Kitwe ther’s no Mindola but rather MINDOLO! 2. the one point one billion united states dollars project is a clear demonstration of the confidence that Glencore has in the Zambian economy under the leadership of president Edgar Lungu, YESSSSSSS! Coz Glencore has found a fertile land where less reflective and less objective parents are running the affairs of the country and the group is taking advantage of the situation… Ask yourselves why Glencore is growing in the so called “Third world” and has put its base in Switzerland! ANSWER= Third world countries is the base and potential of would giant economies but GVTs and majority of eligible voters choose to remain in ignorance in as long as there’s a white man who brings them money, yet they don’t ask where that money came…

  8. yet they don’t ask where that money came from… In actual sense in third world countries (SOME) GVTs sell their people who ignorantly put them in power to enjoy themselves to the fullest yet for the voter what matters is only to be given a job in one of these infestors who dine with dine with GVT fonteens at the expense of a common man and worker…. Coming back to my answer, Switzerland has good financial policies at the service of any person taking money there regardless of their source, coz it means that they keep well your money and get their dues, if you die, nobody would claim that money, hence they gain!!!

  9. Am really confused now! what happened to due to low copper price, this mines recruitment would start in 2019 but why announce now! this is political….or GOD at work…i hope its soon!

  10. did you ever live in Kitwe, that is the name which was used for the mine.Mulimba is correct, it is Mindola.Ask those who lived there before you came unto this world.
This is the problem we have in Zambia today, where everyone is proud of being confused, please let us be analytic instead of being confused as confusion won’t take us anywhere!!!!

  11. Only UPND can be displeased with such a massive investment in our country. Wasn’t it Jay Jay and his fellow upnd cadres who were celebrating the retrenchment of miners and pointing fingers at Edgar? Yes it was not too long ago, weeks actually. The campaign is long in months but short in strategy bane!
