Zesco United turned on the style against Horoya of Guinea on Saturday to pick up a 4-1 home win in a 2016 CAF Champions League first round, first leg match at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola.
George Lwandamina’s side took a comfortable 3-0 haftime lead with Idriss Mbombo setting the tone with the opening goal in the 10th minute when he tapped-in Cletus Chama’s corner.
Mbombo turned provider in the 27th minute when he placed the ball into Jesse Were’s path.
Chama added the third in the 35th minute with a cheeky strike from the edge of the box.
Maybin Mwaba completed the rout in the 63rd minute just three minutes after replacing Mbombo.
Chama again was the architect of that goal.
However, Horoya were handed a slim lifeline to take in to the final leg on March 20 when Francois Dipita pounced on Dauti Musekwa’s poor clearance to make it 4-1.
Zesco need just a draw in the final leg next Sunday in Conakry to advance to the pre-group round.
Comment:good work ba zesco. it was an entertaining game live in our town
This shows how strong your league is. Am Zimbabwean here in Harare and ZANACO beat HARARE CITY FC 2-0.
This is very shameful for our zambian media and reporters failing to report ZAMBIA MTN SUPER LEAGUE just started to day. But able to report politics. when will this country be civilized? All the medias and reporters are politicians shame learn from South AFRICANS they report any game played.
Here in Zimbabwe, our soccer is being lead by people who never played soccer unlike in Zambia where former great, King Kalu is at the helm of Zambian soccer. Thats why Zimbabwean soccer is going down. Another reason, is, CORRUPTION.
WELL DONE
