The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) Director General Patrick Chisanga has unveiled an aggressive investment promotion strategy focused on attracting massive investment in the agriculture, manufacturing, tourism, construction and energy sectors, reports Pan African Radio Journalist Hermit Hachilonde.

Mr. Chisanga stated that the Agency in conjunction with the Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry and Home strings Limited, a United Kingdom based organization, are geared to host the 5th edition of the Zambia International Investment Forum (ZIIF) slated for 21st and 22 of April, at Mulungushi International Conference Centre in Lusaka.

He said the Zambia International Investment Forum (ZIIF) 2016 will be held under the theme “Investment for Industrialization, Wealth and Job Creation” and will attract over 400 delegates comprising foreign investors, local investors, financiers, captains of industry, Government officials and other interest groups and individuals seeking investment opportunities in the Zambian economy.

“As the theme suggests, the focus of the ZIIF 2016 is the transformation of traditional sectors such as agriculture, mining and manufacturing into modern, dynamic, and competitive sectors through the injection of private sector investment for economic prosperity,” said Mr. Chisanga.

Mr. Chisanga said the main objective of the Forum is to attract major investors from diverse countries in the world and sell Zambia as a profitable frontier for trade and investment.

“ZIIF 2016 is a perfect platform for Zambian companies both emerging and established companies and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) to interact, network, have business to business meetings with international fund and equity managers and captains of industry,” explained the Director General.

He added that forum will further focus on promoting Greenfield Investments through Joint Ventures and partnerships between local and international investors.

“ZDA is hopeful that by the end of the Forum, Zambian companies will access funds, and create synergies and Joint Ventures with international industry players,” Mr Chisanga said.

Mr. Chisanga has however called on the business community in the country and abroad to take advantage of the Forum to grow their business by participating in the Forum at K2, 500 for local delegates and K5, 000 for international participants.

“It is expected that by the end of the ZIIF there will be increased awareness about Zambia’s investment environment and opportunities resulting into increased inflow of investment into Zambia,” said Mr. Chisanga.

He further stated that the Forum will further increase trade between Zambia and participating countries as well as increased cooperation between ZDA and delegations of participating countries.

Mr Chisanga also encouraged companies to partner with the Agency by taking up various sponsorship packages that have been lined up for sponsors and partners. These include the Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze Sponsorship packages as well as item sponsorship.

  1. These mint ventures create opportunity to increase number of foreign detractors. What constitutes , ‘Greenfield Investments through Joint Ventures and partnerships between local and international investors,’

Is thus not just enlarging immigration populations in Zambia. I see the positive side but it’s too many calls for foreigners to enter Zambia. These people will only ask for tax free everything. We need to protect our Land and resources. I am worried by PF’s continuos call and opening up Land related projects. We need to have a national consensus to know how many have entered the country under investment. Those 100 year deals and so called favourable conditions only benefit the class of people who can enter these projects. Taxes don’t trickle down in large amounts to…

  2. Just looking at this company’s website…why not go to promote in England or partner with more firms learn from Ghana and Nigeria. I see nothing aggressive here!!

  4. I am worried by PF’s continuos call and opening up Land related projects. We need to have a national census to know how many have entered the country under investment. Those 100 year deals and so called favourable conditions only benefit the class of people who can enter these projects. Taxes don’t trickle down in large amounts to the poor. The poor in Zambia remain as excruciatingly poor as pre-independence.

  5. TOO LITTLE TOO LATE!

Lungu and his PF were too busy BORROWING and spending the EUROBONDS on overseas trips and now August is approaching they are trying to show they have something to offer!

Ubufi! Chikwanda and clowns have sunk the Zambian economy so deep no investor is going to come and bail you thieves out!

Your lies have run out of the short legs they had.

  6. For as long as PF continues to be violet, you won’t have the investment that you’re expecting. At a time when Zimbabwe has become peaceful Lungu and PF want to turn Zambia into a violent country. Why is Lungu and Inonge quiet over the bashing of UPND members and the innocent school children?

  7. There is nothing new in Mr. Chisanga statement.
Different presentation of the failed 2014 conference which will produce same disappointing results.

Somehow I am left with uncomfortable filing that PF has not just abandoned local industry but has taken path to create (through not justifiable “investment incentives”) environment where only chance of success will be determined by the exemptions from Tax and Duties extended to foreign investors at the cost of local manufacturers.

Sorry, but this is just another nail in the coffin of local entrepreneurship.

  8. So many EL haters! Edgar Lungu is winning 2016 and all upnd will cry.
This has now become tribal politics, look at the 11 MP’s from MMD that crossed over, they all stem from the same area OR CLOSE from where HH comes from, NONETHELESS, THEY ARE ALL LIGHT WEIGHTS. IF THIS IS THE CASE NOW AND THEREFORE I SEE EDGAR WINNING WITH A LAND SLIDE, WAIT FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT OF HIS RUNNING MATE.

EDGAR JUST KEEP WORKING AND IGNORE EVERY NEGATIVE COMMENT – YOU ARE GODLY WHILST THE OTHER OPPONENT WE ALL KNOW.
