Zambia dropped into third place in Group E of the 2017 Africa Cup qualifiers after forcing a 1-1 draw away in Congo Brazzaville on Sunday.
And Guinea Bissau shot to the pinnacle of Group E with seven points after stunning Kenya 1-0 in Nairobi earlier on Sunday.
At Kintele Stadium in Brazzaville, Congo went 1-0 up two minutes after the break with Jordan Massengo benefiting from goal-mouth scramble to beat Kennedy Mweene following a corner.
Massengo beat Mweene in a similar fashion as he did last Wednesday when Zambia and Congo drew 1-1 in Ndola.
After taking a lead, Congo thought they were heading for a home win before Winston Kalenge levelled for Zambia after 72 minutes.
Chipolopolo continued to push for the winner and were unlucky to see Collins Mbesuma’s powerful strike come off the bar with three minutes left to play.
Before Mbesuma was denied by the wood work there were misses by Kalengo and substitute Conlyde Luchanga who were denied by keeper Christoffer Mafoumbi in the 70th and 76 minutes respectively.
It was a game of two halves with Congo dominating the first 45 minutes before Zambia took over the latter stages of this round four match.
Meanwhile, this stalemate ensured that Group E remained a three horse race.
Zambia and Congo are tied on six points though the later enjoys a better goal differences.
Let’s support the boys…there is still a lot work we need to do, George may be a good club coach but at international level he will be exposed…Kamanga has to start putting in a new back room staff, everything from diet to kit, training has to change, our boys always look malnourished 16 year olds compared to our West African counterparts.
Zambian football, not only the national team, needs a lot of restructuring in all aspects. Football in Africa has changed, there are no dominating countries anymore, unfortunately, FAZ has not been managing the affairs of football in line with the dynamics across Africa.
Hope the knew team has what it takes to turn Zambian football in the right direction.
@Promote Africanism, Not tribalism
Zambian football has been stale before 2012, we have had very greedy incompetent administrators surely how can the number one sport in the country still be dependent on taxpayers. We need urgent ROOT AND BRANCH reforms. Let not make the mistake of licking Kamaga’s **** like we did with those crooks in the previous administration…let’s lobby for accountability and transparency.
Let’s support the boys? from the mouth of Jay Jay!! Maybe the world is about to end. Jay Jay the man who refused to support the boys when they won afcon after 36 years of trying? The man who refused to support Chipolopolo because he hates Kalusha!. The man who refused to support these very boys labelling their victory a fluke!
The man who forsook patriotism because he had a quarrel with the FAZ leader now says let’s support the boys? The man who continued to label a two time afcon champion coach as a PE teacher just because he didn’t like the fact that Kalusha had hired him! Two time continental champion when 53 coaches can’t win let alone qualify and he is labelled just a PE teacher? If hypocrisy has a definition it is Jay Jay
Gibby Zulu
Renard was a PE teacher, a draw specialists and AFCON 2012 was a fluke what have you got to show for it today?? its simply bar talk that you won the AFCON…you have to accept it what have you got to show?? Kalusha was a clueless administrator using you and your FAZ as a cash cow..where is he today first flight to Joburg.
Yayayayaya! Diet! the national team players meet for 5 days. And FAZ should change their diet? Clubs are the ones that plang long term on a player’s diet not the other way round. Kalusha was malnourished at Mighty. When he went to Cercle Brugge he gained weight. Zoom had nothing to do with it
What a game.We should have done our home work in Ndola and then this draw would have been a good result. Not all hope is lost.
Your Galu left one great big mess…today he is in his RSA enjoying life with his muzungu wife!!
The truth of the matter is that we do not have a team.
When you won AFCON 2012 ..it was party all night you forgot about tomorrow.
We played well after conceding a goal. I wish we had played like that from the first whistle. I think we will win all the remaining games
Zambian football, not only the national team, needs a lot of restructuring in all aspects. Football in Africa has changed, there are no dominating countries anymore, unfortunately, FAZ has not been managing the affairs of football in line with the dynamics across Africa.

A Renard drilled team would have already qualified by now.
Renard was a draw specialist… have you forgotten? The experience he has as today is because of your docility..he had used that experience from a mere PE teacher to 2 time AFCON winner..what about yourself what have you got to show?? You were busy licking the Galu ..where did it get you? He is back in safely home in RSA with his muzungu wife enjoying the loans from corrupt FIFA officials..meanwhile you ***** dont even have a training ground? Do you know what a training ground is?
Football is about results. Can you name any Zambia National Team coach in history other than Renard to win the AFCON? Take your time.
My question to you is…what have got to show for it. Where is the foundation? Simply praising your god Renard will not take you anywhere. Isn’t your selfsame god Renard who failed to beat the Black Stars in Ghana. The PE tutor was drawing his way…the only reason you qualified for Afcon in RSA was by default….and drew your way out in that tournament.
The time for silly **** kissing and nostagia is over demand the best in everything!!
I am in agreement with you Concerned citizen. Don’t waste your time trying to pump sense into jay jay the muppet with a fragile mind and misplaced opinions. Renard won the cup, results do count whether he was a PE teacher or not you get it bad boy jay jay!!! He managed to take Zambia into the history books together with Galu your nickname for kalusha. See bad boy jay jay..though you miraculously appear to support Zambia which might not be the case because you don’t seem to make sense half the time, Zambia is likely not qualifying this time around. it’s all written in black and white. The best chance is the 2 spots for best runners up but the teams are playing better in other groups, the congo game sealed Zambia’s fate. They are out jay jay wrong time to support Zambia. The 2 runners…
Too many finished players. Katongo, sinkala, nkausu, mweene, sunzu all finished. we need a rejuvenated team. maybe they found it strange that kamanga was not asking for a cut from their allowances
Our team, the ones that train and draw training allowance are different from the ones who play on d day.the ones that usually play dont play as a team, they easly tire up,no game play plan is seen.
As for our friends you could see the way they mark our strikers, you then know they had a serios study on our team.
Its not just training but also going through latest games your opponent has played and then comeup with your strategy.
I doubt if our clubs and faz have video libraries which they can use for this if not then that could give others an edge over us.
wl qualify,o they nid is our support

How am I a hypocrite when I still stand by my words? Renard was a PE teacher, a draw specialist and AFCON 2012 was a fluke…he got his CV off your docility…you don’t see it. what have you got to show for it today?? its simply bar talk that you won the AFCON. If it was no fluke how come you LAMENTABLY FAILED TO MAKE IT PASSED THE GROUP STAGES IN RSA…you have to accept it what have you got to show?? GALU was a clueless, corrupt, thieving administrator using you as a cash cow and your FAZ as a cash cow..where is he today first flight to Joburg.
Wake up ..I don’t post for votes here I wouldn’t care less if I was the most hated blogger …I would care less!!
You are glad to label others less patriotic than you because they do not tolerate corruption and ticket racketing like yourself…you have no idea what patriotism is my friend ..simply no idea!!
Wake up!!
Wake up? From a clearly two faced pretender to patriotism who has been sleeping the past four years and therefore couldn’t see that Chipolopolo was the Zambia national team until now? We are already awake to your lowdown machinations.
You are a hypocrite because you refused to support the very same team you are asking us to support. We dont need you to tell us to support Chipolopolo cos soMe of us dont stop supporting the team because we don’t like the FAZ chief. Yes Iam certainly more patriotic than you because I support the Zambia national team regardless of whoever is the FAZ leader. As for your senseless labelling of FLUKE of Chipolopolo’s triumph, a fluke happens once. It doesn’t happen in five games. In case you dont know, only Egypt have in the past 40 years retained the…
Kikikikikikikikiki! Yangu bane!
jay jay do you have an identity complex. You sound like one who has failed in life. You sound like a player who has been unfairly treated and left out of the national team. Is it wrong to win an AFCON? Is it wrong for a PE teacher to coach a national team? One who even wins you a tournament. Is it wrong for somone to update his CV? Your arguments are baseless and without an agenda. How do you beat Senegal, Ghana and Ivory Coast and call it a fluke? We proved it again by beating the same Ghana a few months in Ndola. Zambia was comming from that AFCON in Angola without losing a game. Infact, Zambia has only lost one game in the last 3 AFCONS in regulation time.
Now I’m being called a former football player, last time I was called Simata or Kamanga…really laughable.
lts MATHEMATICS TIME. LETS START THE CALCULATIONS (PROBABILITY) IF KENYA BEATS CONGO AND WE WIN IN GUINEA BISSAU, THEN BLAA….BLAA..BLAA
AS USUAL WE FIND THE SOLUTION
It’s too early for the maths Bro. As it stands Zambias fate is still in their hands. They have to win both remaining games which is a tall order for Chicken George
Football is better run by former footballers and not people who even failed to run a club like Kabwe Warrior. We have gone back to those old days where we used to play but not winning. We had other business executives like Gumbo, Mulonga and others.Did we ever won anything. None. This time it won’t be easy for this executive because we already have a yard stick.
Comment: @jay jay,
Just shut up. Afcon 2010, Zambia lost on penalties to who be champion Egypt. Which support are you talking about? You have no shame.
The goal must be given to Mbesuma,it went in from his bike kick……if u watched the replay
Number 14, i do not agree with you that football is better run by footballers. Running football is a business and and an entity that needs managerial skills. It does not matter the background of the one in charge as long as they have the skills. As for # 13, there is no mathematics involved. We are very much into it. All we need is to win both games of which we will do. I watched G.Bissau play kenya home and away and am sure we will trumph. Congo is a tough team and they are the ones who prevented Nigeria from qualifying in the last tournament.
Be real @AFCON 2010 Zambia lost to Nigeria 5-4 on penalties after Tomas Nyirenda’s kick was saved by Vincent.

Well, iam a serious follower of football. If iam wrong it doesn’t matter because that team took time to build unless you are a myopic person like jay jay.
This Jay Jay guy is a joke. He clearly lacks the rudiments of critical thinking. In all honesty you sound quite foolish calling Zambia’s 2012 AFCON win a fluke. Air must be the only thing that runs through your brain, hence you make such hallow and empty arguments. Fluke? only in your little insignificant world was our win a fluke. Substantiate your argument before making a fool of yourself. Allow me to confirm and establish some facts for you; Before the 2012 AFCON, the top 3 favorite teams were respectively Ivory Coast, Ghana and Senegal. Zambia was not even on the radar in accordance with soccer experts. We played all the top 3 teams mentioned hereinbefore and guess what Jay Jay, we convincingly beat each one of them. So how you come up with this stupid unqualified and unwarranted for…
@Gibby Zulu thank you for putting Jay Jay in his place. This Jay Jay fellow thinks he is the cleverest Zambian who ever lived. He thinks we all want to listen to him yapping nonsense about his whimsical feelings about Zambia. One day he is Chipolopolo’s enemy the next he is their supporter and he wants us to follow him like he is the pied piper atase ukutumpa! However, I have seen that he is a rabble rouser who spends 24/7 of his time posting rubbish on the internet so he will always want to answer each and every comment that irks him because he is as heavily opinionated and as stubborn as a goat. I ve never seen him apologise to anyone. I wonder what job he does abroad which gives him all the time to spew so much filth 24/7.
I think Chipolopolo did well without him. With him on board…
With him on board they will fail at all their projects. We need to know him so that if he turns up at a Chipolopolo game we quarantine him far far away near the toilet alone.
He is myopic and parochial
Gibby thank you for cutting that little boy Jay Jay to size

What have we got to show for it? We are in the History books. Our name is embedded on the trophy. Thats what all winners have to show for it. The boys got medals. Ala! Aka kamuntu!!
