UPND president has finally ended the speculation on his choice for running mate by settling for party vice president administration Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba popularly known as GBM.
Mr Hichilema and his running Mr Mwamba have since successfully filed in their nomination papers before ECZ Chairperson Justice Esau Chulu.
Justice Chulu validated Mr Hichilema and Mr Mwamba’s nominations.
Speculation had been rife over the past few days over who the UPND leader will pick as his running mate with former first lady Dr Christine Kaseba being among those thought to be on the shortlist.

UPND Vice president politics Vice President Politics Dr Canisius Banda former Acting president Guy Scott and UDF leader Miles Sampa were among the notable figures who accompanied the duo for nomination.

Be more analytical. Before the celebratory noises, you should observe that some key allies and party members have skipped the nomination event. Your party needs to heal from this process and am sure that HH has acknowledged this. The good thing for PF is that no one can vote for UPND now with GBM as a running mate because should the unlikely happen and UPND won, who would want to be led by GBM as republican president as per new constitution? There are definitely many causes of concern on GBM:
1. he is not easy to sell, even in his home area in Kasama;
2. he is easy to de-campaign due to his poor civil record;
3. he lacks the civility to walk along with the refined and well-mannered HH;
4. there is already word that the man is now bankrupt and all he is doing is keeping up
appearances; borrowing huge amounts just to donate. how can you entrust Govt coffers to
such a person? they will be asking.
5. if our dear President HH could not see all these clear weaknesses in GBM, could it be that the President himself may not be well-discerning?

If only one can take time and listen to the insults that were said by GBM during the conversation he had with Chilufya Tayali, then, one could safely conclude that GBM is not a Presidential material. It is very easy for the PF to de-campaign GBM because all they can do is to play the recorded insults during their rallies and then ask the audience to think about such a leader. And I believe that is one of the strategies PF will use.
