Armed police officers this morning stormed Radio Mano in Kasama in an attempt to stop a Radio Program which was featuring UPND’s Vice President Geoffrey Mwamba.

The officers were however left embarrassed after they discovered that the interview was being done via outside broadcasting facility at Mr Bwalya’s residence within Kasama.

Northern Province Deputy Police Commissioner Lizzy Machina told Radio Mano management that the station was not supposed to host the opposition leader because President Edgar Lungu is in the province.

The programme was left to continue uninterrupted and Mr Bwalya used the occasion to castigate the PF for allegedly having failed to deliver most of its campaign promises.

President Lungu yesterday kicked off his marathon tour of Northern and Muchinga provinces as campaigns intensify ahead of next month’s general poll.

Meanwhile, UPND presidential running mate Geoffrey Bwalya has advised the Zambia Air Force command is stop what he called its partisan stance by restricting landing rights for his campaign team.

Mr Bwalya said ZAF should allow his campaign team carry out our campaigns without hindrance.

He said his team is facing challenges in carrying out campaigns on the ground as getting land rights from ZAF is proving difficult.

“Good morning, my team and I continue with our campaigns in Luapula and the north of the country. We are, however, facing challenges to carry out our campaigns on the ground as landing rights from Zambia Air Force are proving difficult,” Mr Bwalya said.

“The Zambia Police, has given us the go ahead to proceed with our campaigns and rallies in the province and as you are aware this is a campaign period and all parties have the liberty to be present everywhere in the country to sell their message to the electorate and therefore the means to get to them should not in any way be curtailed, whether by land, water or indeed by air if the party has the means.”

Mr Bwalya however said his team will continue and urges the ZAF command to do what is right and stop this procrastination and allow them to exercise their right to movement and assembly.

“The Air force is owned by the Zambian people, to whom we are all selling our manifestos, and the ZAF command’s actions may have serious ramifications not so far from now. My advice to the command is stop your partisan stance and let us carry out our campaigns without hindrance.”

    • This is what happens when a Police service gets politicized by drunken politicians. Where has common sense in this country gone too?

    • GBM is the one. He really did well, these PF carders in police uniform need to be embarrassed. Why should nobody else campaign when Lungu is in the province. He is a candidate and everyone is equal – there is nothing special about Lungu that should stop any citizen in this country from talking about things that affect them. Not only GBM but any Zambian should be allowed to go to radio Mano and speak out the way they want as it is their democratic right which Lungu cannot stop. These police need to respect Zambians and the Zambian constitution. Presidents come and go but Zambia and Zambians should be respected at all times – this goes to you especially mr. incompetent president.

    • Fo.ols, its so embarrassing to see how chep the police force has become. let the elections pass, these people should be fired. we need professionals in these offices. what the hell is the police doing?? *****s PF cadres.. You are going because you are all st.upid..

    • @lungu is anoited,by who ?the devil ‘s works are clear here .you can hide them but God gives wisdom to those in light we are all seeing them now as God is exposing them.

  1. Why has upnd become so stupid that they think they are in power and should disregard the the rule and law of this country? A President deserves respect at all times not what the *****s are doing???

    • @JON WHAT A USELESS STATEMENT. PEOPLE WITH SUCH ATTITUDE DONT DESERVE THE VERY DEMOCRACY THAT GIVES YOU THE RIGHT TO SAY THE VERY SHALLOW STATEMENT YOU JUST MADE. SO WHEN S PRESIDENT IS SOMEWHERE WE ALL NEED TO BOW DOWN? IT DOESN’T MATTER WHO OR WHERE THE PRESIDENT IS. THE PEOPLE HAVE THE RIGHT TO DEMOCRATIC DISSENT. DISAGREEING WITH LUNGU IS NOT A SIN. PLEASE FELLOW ZAMBIANS ITS TIME TO TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK FROM THESE CADRES. PF AND SUCH CADRES AS JON NEED TO BE PUT BACK IN THIER PLACE WHICH IS IN LINE WITH ALL OF US. BU FONTINI BWA CHILAMO!!! AMA CADRE YACHILAMO.

  2. A true Democracy allows all political parties to get their message out. If this is not allowed, Zambia will not be considered a true Democracy by the rest of the World. Zambia needs to make sure the elections are fair and honest.

  3. With that kind of law enforcement all the PF have to do is wait for the UPND to release their campaign schedule(as they did today for next week), and then send President Lungu to those areas just to make sure their opponents do not campaign.

Now I seem to remember in 2011 then the challenger Mr Sata(MHSRIP) campaigning in Kitwe as then President Rupiya Banda campaigned in Ndola. They could even pass each other’s convoy on the road, park their cars and greet each other then go on to tear each other up at their next rallies. That is the politics of maturity.

  4. Does that mean when Edgar is in State house then no radio station should host the opposition in Lusaka? How ridiculous. What kind of warped thinking is that?

    • @ grand.
In 2006, USA launched the #NewHorizon spacecraft to #Pluto.
In a 9 year journey  across the #SolarSystem heading toward the #kuiperBelt?, it got more speed by orbiting  a Big Planet,Jupiter, for a #GravityAssist .
The mission arrived very successfully in 2015 .

In 2006, UPND launched Hope Horizon (HH) spacecraft to #Plot1 .?
In a 10 year journey across the #SourPoliticalSystem, campaigning on the #CopperBelt?, he acquired more speed by “orbiting ”  a Big Man, GBM ( Gravity Boosting Machine ), for a #GravityAssist.

The mission arrives successfully on 11/8/ 2016.
Bwezani influence delayed the 2015 plot 1 arrival hence the effects of Chagwa Syndrome on Zed.

  5. I continue with my laughter, this is becoming a comedy of unbelievable disproportion. As Fred Membe always says…”Whom the gods are about to destroy, they first make mad”. Absolutely embarrassing, wow….no words. Well done GBM and thanks to the countless whistle blowers growing by the day in both the OP, security wings, defence and civil servants. All deceit does get exposed eventually.

  6. By the way GBM campaigned for HH in last year’s elections in northern parts of zambia but the results where disastrous

  7. Many innocent Zambians are in trouble under Edgar Changwa Lungu and the police. Lungu you can’t stop everything because one day you also will be stopped. Ubufontini bwachila mune. Practicing what was done by your forefathers in Africa all in the name of power. Be civilized in how you conduct yourself and your entourage. You are really showing your kind of leadership in how your cartel treats people. End of times are here my friend. Just drink your last Jameson because after August 11, 2016 its no longer tax payers’ money. Tomba all the young girls, steal, do whatever, but come August, there’s a case to answer.

  8. It’s unbelievable that an opposition leader cannot be featured on Radio barely 24hrs after so the so called “peace accord”.

  9. Zambians you make a mistake by voting for PF giving them anothe five years you will suffer what is going on there is not right any one supportin PF is not normal in the head on a serious not, just last week a young life was taken away when she was shot by the police just read the comments coming out of PF then make up you mind. The ball is in your hands to change things.

  10. What a load of bull and uncivilised behaviour by this PF government. Each time the opposition is somewhere, they change Lungu’s itinerary to be in the same place – and then claim Lungu has priority as President. What nonsensical primitive politics! Is this the kind of regime some Zambians are supporting? They all need their heads examined. And more comical – the opposition shouldn’t even have a radio interview because Lungu is in the area? This time around they ended up with egg on their stupid faces. All institutions bestowed with protecting rights and the agencies that have authority to act against this clear breach of election rules and the rule of law, are just ‘ndwi’. What a country!

  11. This is stupidity on the part of the police and the PF government. These are the same fo.ols who are calling for the national prayers

  12. RB was a civilised politician compared to lungu.
Lungu being convicted of fraud is no accident. The man is a thug.

    • @ You may be right, but gbm campaigned for HH in northern last year only ended up getting far less votes that what RB got in 2011

  13. @GRAND ~ shut the hell up! Say something sensible.
@ Terrible ~ The police, ECL and PF are one entity – organised crime unit!

  15. Gbm is stupid when they compaigning in kasama who followed them? Now that he knows that EL is in the area he leaves luapula lashes to kasama for fear of dismantling the fake ten points they preached

  16. @17, I am nit sure that “police stormed” is the right phrase to use, probably a limitation of the english language by our brothers. But of course when you think with your UPND hat and see things with UPND eyes the police and PF are one. I cannot argue with you on that level.
Secondly, learn to use civilised language with respect for others particularly the head of state, then there will be peace, no need for peace accords, elections will.be a contest like the Olympics not a war, its not a matter of life and death.
Next stop illegal processions and respect the law and the police, then there will be no need for teargas or other tools of controlling violent cadres. If your cadres march along great north road insulting traders and street vendors and destroying their merchandise, damaging…

  17. Next stop illegal processions and respect the law and the police, then there will be no need for teargas or other tools of controlling violent cadres. If your UPND cadres march along great north road insulting traders and street vendors and destroying their merchandise, damaging windscreens of cars on sale, do you think that the police will come out with kid gloves when next they receive a report that UPND cadres are marching in an illegal procession along cairo road? So behave yourselves as leaders, preach peace and guide your cadres and dont send them into harm’s way. If UPND can do the above things, I can assure you that the campaigns will be peaceful, and will be enjoyabke and harm free just like a prilocession at the vatican, you will.not see a single policeman in riot gear or…

  18. Last week I toured the Copperbelt and I was impressed with I saw. UPND cadres driving in their branded vehicles with loud speakers blazing and waving their hands to the people at the markets and on the streets. Some people waved back with PF symbols. But nothing happened things went on normally. I also.met a UPND foot patrol, they waved their symbol at me and i just ignored them, they also just looked at me and went on. Here on lusaka that would have been mayhem and my car would have been damaged. I felt pity for UPND though, no one in Kopala thinks much of their party, despitw the masdive loss of jobs on which HH and GBM had pinned their electoral hopes. It was clear to me that Kopala is still PF bedroom, kuchipinda as they say, UPND has not made a single dent in the political colour of…

  19. . ….It was clear to me that Kopala is still PF bedroom, kuchipinda as they say, UPND has not made a single dent in the political colour of Kopala as they claim. That explains why they vent their anger and frustrations by taking violence to Lusaka and Namwala.
