President Edgar Lungu has announced that the Mpika district will be divided into three more districts.

Speaking at a rally in Mpika at Mining grounds, President Lungu announced that to further accelerate development, the 147 000 square kilometres district which is the largest district in Zambia would be split into three more districts.

“The creation of these districts will accelerate development and create jobs. You will have three more district hospitals, three police posts and three district offices among many other developmental advantages that come with this exercise,” he said.

President Lungu asked the jubilant crowd to retain the PF government into power for them to ensure continued development.

The Head of State is in Muchinga province on his re-election campaign trail.

  1. In the Tarime district of the Mara region in northern Tanzania an age-old tradition involves women marrying women.

    • LOOK at his FACE – WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS CONNING???

District DELINEATION HAS TO BE APPROVED BY PARLIAMENT – THERE IS CURRENTLY NO PARLIAMENT!!
DISTRICTS are AREAS DELINEATED TO SERVE A POPULATION – NOT JUST BECOZ IT IS A LARGE PIECE OF LAND, e.g. just becoz the Sahara desert is large, it has to be divided into DISTRICTS!! Districts serve people, so if the population is below a certain number, IT IS OF NO ECONOMIC BENEFIT TO THE PEOPLE IT IS MEANT TO SERVE & IT SIMPLY BECOMES A BLACK HOLE FOR MONEY TO DISAPPEAR OR BECOMES A WHITE-ELEPHANT!!! So yes, ALL PF DUNDERHEADS WILL CHEER as they ALWAYS DO!!

THE GOVT FUNDS USED TO “TRY & EDUCATE” this DRUNKARD, could have been better used to save thousands of children dying of malnutrition THAN MAINTAINING THIS CHAKOLWA AT UNZA!! Who has…

    • ….has since then GRADUATED TO BECOME A MURDERER OF INNOCENT CITIZENS WHOM HE IS SUPPOSED TO PROTECT!!!

Vote WISELY 11/8/2016!! VOTE ZAMBIA FORWARD!! VOTE UPND FOR A PROGRESSIVE & UNITED ZAMBIA!!
A COUNTRY & LAND of a FREE PEOPLE, UNITED BY ONE HERITAGE, the COUNTRY CALLED ZAMBIA!!

      #Chagwamustfall!! #PamaFikuyabebele!!

      I thank you!!

    • That’s the way too go, Mpika pipo pulizi copy and paste the southern province pattern of voting, we can’t have a situation where nega nega 18,000 and Edgar 0, olo ni tribalism nifi kwena this time around twalamilanga imwe mweba tonga, it’s nega nega formula all the way chapwa

  2. Meaningless we hav more than 90% of pf pronouncement of districts eithout even a foundation .nashi lungu thinks zambians hav No eyes to see.

  3. I thought this nonsense of “districting” districts went with, MHSRIP, na bayama ba SATA!! who is ECL’s advisers?

  4. HIV-positive Malawian man, who says he is paid to have sex with children as part of initiation rites, has been arrested on the president’s orders.

  5. EXCELLENT, CREATION OF MORE DISTRICTS WILL ACCELERATE ECONOMIC AND INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT ACROSS ZAMBIA AND HENCE THE CONNECTIVITY OF ALL PARTS OF ZAMBIA WITH GOOD RAODS, RAIL LINE AND AIR ROUTES.

    • What’s the problem with just taking development there without creating districts everywhere there are cities larger than that area how do they develop its nonsensical and utter bankruptcy of ideas

    • Development is not about splitting districts because they are big; its about population! This just another expense on a broke treasury!

  6. Mr. President, don’t listen to people who are against creation of new districts.
I would also like to propose to you to create another district that would cater for places like: Mapamba area- (be recognized as Chief because it is currently under Chief Chifunda in Chama district – Muchinga); Chiefs Kazembe, Chitungulu, Mwanya (currently under Lundazi district ) and Nabwalya Chibombo (currently under Mpika district). These are places in the Luangwa valley. The new district offices can be built in Chief Chitungu’s area (around Lumimba Mission) and be called Lumimba District. I was born and bread from Mapamba. I know what it means to live there. Children from Mapamba find it easy to access secondary education in Lumimba than at anywhere else.

    • Ba Ngulube mwashala mufyakale development can be taken to all places without becoming districts besides we still have many under developed districts for that matter don’t be so gullible a place doesn’t need to be a district to have a secondary school

  7. MPIKA DISTRICT ALONE IS MORE THAN ENTIRE COPPERBELT……. Good move Presdo…….. FROM NABWALYA CHIOMBO TO KANONA TO MATUMBO IN CHINSALI TO CHAMBESHI IN KASAMA….. KI48 000 SQ KM……. its long overdue .infact MCS mhsiip ….. would have made six districts there……Kanona , Chilonga , Nabwalya, Mpika, Kanchibiya to mention but a few

    • ubukopo bubi especially you guys, seriously we need someone who can understand issues. Look at what mr Sata did some of the districts he created no activities are going on up to now, you still call that development? Any way we cant be surprised coz chagwa is a copy and paste type of a leader. Tell the nation what new proposals or changes he has ever made since he came into power apart from ridding on the ideas of the late Micheal Sata MHSRIP.

  8. Where is the money going to come from, is IMF going to allow there dollars to go into such ventures. The truth be told , the government has no money, perhaps people have gone to sleep, SAP is coming, no unnecessary expenditure, be it ECL or HH forming government. Boma is broke, period!

  9. Ngoza, it’s anyoko who is broke, where have you seen a country with abundant natural resources getting broke? you are a day dreamer give ECL chance to rule. You are the same people who were busy saying Sata is mad when he started the 8000 and L400 link Zambia. See now how things have unfolded, Who knew Burma and Chilumbulu roads were going to be dual carriage ways? talk of Matero, dual carriage way, Please lekeni Lungu ateke bane the rest are just promising, Lungu is doing it.

  10. Indeed Edgar Lungu is a murderer who killed Mapenzi for belonging to opposition party. Shame on ECL. You will be brought before criminal court once you leave office.

  11. Angulube mwalasa sibweni… I m also from Mapamba… We want a road from Mpika via kalimulilo… You know what I am talking about… Chama South is neglected meanwhile it is the one that ushered Lungu into State house as a last count in 2015… and come this August it is 100% Chama South!!! We will see… Lungu aleteka nakabili… Chakubaba? Come and beat me!!!LOL

  12. what a shame that Lungu now only knows how to declare new districts with no infrastructure, just to deceive the poor people. what progress has been made to the districts which Sata and him created?

  13. Since he has done / doing what he promised the people of Zambia now he is promising what he will do in the next five years. That is our President the working president, the walk talk man. Seleni ababombeko.

  14. UPND supporters, please note that it is not insults that will usher HH into State House. What you are forgetting is that the same people you want to vote for HH are the same people you keep insulting. No one is interested in the so called Mapenzi’s blood on the head of state’s head. This death is still being investigated. Have some respect for once. For me, with your insults and lack of respect, I cannot support your candidate.

  15. UPND Leaders of insults, arrogant and GBV. They have wealth without work, Pleasure without conscience, Knowledge without Character, Commerce without morality, Science without Humanity, Worship without Sacrifice and are in Politics without Principles. They will rule Zambia after 50years

  16. I am surprised to hear people thinking that creation of new districts can’t bring development close to the people. Read more about the meaning and importance of decentralisation.
Talking about the population, think about countries like Botswana &Namibia, even our own country, Zambia, what is the population compared to smaller countries like Uganda?
The problem is that you are politicking in everything.
Be serious, and appreciate where it is due.
Move around the world and see, not just being cheated.

  17. If you are a town mouse, leave us, the bush mouse, to appreciate the decentralisation process going on in Zambia. Even though structures are not yet put up in most of the new Districts, government workers are working closely with the people. Move around the country, and you will learn to appreciate.
