President Edgar Lungu says he has not abandoned the vision of his late predecessor President Michael Sata.

President Lungu said the commissioning and tour of the K132 million Robert Makasa University in Chinsali district is testament of late President Sata’s continued legacy.

The President says the opening of the university is a clear testimony to the PF manifesto promise to deliver quality tertiary education to the people.

The Robert Makasa university will specialise in science math and business faculties.

The University is named after Robert Makasa, an imminent freedom fighter who hailed from Chinsali.

And President Edgar Lungu says he will split Chinsali district into two districts to expedite development and provision of services in the area.

ZANIS reports that President Lungu said that Chinsali like many other large districts needs to be divided because the area is too vast to be administered from the district’s administrative centre.

He re-affirmed his commitment to accelerate meaningful development in Chinsali and other parts of the country.

The Head of State has since instructed Muchinga Province Deputy Minister Mwimba Malama to ensure that feeder roads in the district are worked on.

President Lungu said this when he addressed a public rally attended by thousands of Chinsali residents yesterday.

And Local Government and Housing Minister Stephen kampyongo warned
civil servants in the district not to engage in partisan politics.

Mr Kampyongo said he is aware that some civil servants have aligned themselves with some opposition political parties.

    • Commission without even 1 lecture employed. How can you open a university with only workers with wheelbarrows? Simply too few workers to help PF make it through 11th August. September banyoko.
You can commission and threaten civil servants through ka Kapyongo, but you know what, people are decided. PF is out.

  1. Chief commissioner, that’s what he’s good at. Kapyongo, you fuucking hypocrite, hopefully you get dealt with after elections. Pagans!

  2. Lungu behaves as if he never went to a University. Does he know that tertiary education is not about buildings and splitting districts – where are the lecturers to deliver that education? Would you live in Chinsali yourself if you acquired your genuine PhD and say I am starting my career from here? Mulekwatako amano, no wonder we wont vote for you. Anyway, you are the luckiest person on earth, from rugs to riches over Sata’s body! You would never in your wildest of dreams dreamed of being President because you were nowhere near power bwana.

    • @Chilubanama… nauluba. You are writing from the UK, I assume you know that district partitioning and repartitioning is the rock bed of direct, efficient and effective service delivery to where it is needed most. FYI Chinsali is a vast district – its even bigger than Kitwe.(Google it) therefore it makes sense to divide it so that it will be better logistically to deliver service more efficiently. The size of a district is not only determined by population. If Zambia was in the UK population wise it would be in in just 2 districts ( London district has 8.9m people)

So weushikwete amano niwe not those who are seeking to solve problems

  3. Vote buying at its best! Are people in these Provinces naive to believe Lungu’s promises which are only made at election time? Don’t people in these Provinces know that govt has no money and is falling to finance existing Universities and Colleges thru out the country. The govt is struggling to pay Civil Servants salaries and pensions so how can it open new University which requires lots of money? Forward with HH,GBM & UPND.

  4. (HH) has been beaten terribly in this election. This year it’s all about Sonta po and Kaponya (HH) has nothing to show but a Privatization track record and Free Masson Satanism which still haunt him to this day.

  5. Ni chani? Mantha? It’s like a priest who has baptized all his parish and has now started baptizing each and every living thing. Kikikikikiki….

  6. I’ m personally proud of the place, glad it has advanced to that stage which I never expected ‘cos those buildings were abandoned and have been standing since 1980. I recall teachers at Mulakupikwa like Mr. Kaputa, Mr. Mulenga, Mr. Kaziwe and Mr. Nkatya. They were very inviting members of staff with whom I interacted well. I am not Bemba but in those days when Zambia was headed by long sighted leaders and when the issue of tribalism was never heard at all, my stay there was absolutely good. Dr. Kaunda and his government officials never tolerated or preached tribalism but what do we see today under ECL and his ministers including some top brass in the PF ? It’ s a shame of the highest. Actually, to give credit to ECL is extremely a fallacy and insult of the highest as credit should…

  7. You guys are doing a good job! Do not let these guys who sold the country to be near the State House! They said they will stop building!

  8. REALLY!!! Is this a university building? Looks like low class block of flats they give to homeless people in South Africa.

  9. OMG… What kind of poor quality University is this? The government must stop its jokes and be serious with its projects. This is an incomplete rushed through hush hush University. The painting is incomplete. The landscaping is non existent and the guy in the picture looks like he was doing final touches pathetic painting final touches before the commissioning. How does he commission such a useless looking incomplete structure?I think the people of Muchinga, just like any other Zambians deserve better. I hope my fellow Zambians in Muchinga can see beyond the spin. Why cant the government plan these projects properly rather than rush them through just to get votes? This is very annoying. The people must DEMAND for a better university not this structure that already looks 50 years older than…
