The Media Institute for Southern Africa (MISA) -Zambia has joined other organisations and foreign observers in praising MUVI TV station for fair and balanced coverage of the 2016 general elections.

MISA Zambia Chairperson Helen Mwale said MUVI TV station deserves to be commended for covering elections in a balanced manner to the satisfaction of stakeholders.

Speaking in an interview with ZANIS in Lusaka today, Ms Mwale urged both public and private Media to emulate MUVI TV of how the media should operate in a democratic country such as Zambia.

Ms Mwale said MUVI TV covered the August 11, 2016 elections in a balanced manner before, during and after the voting exercise.

She however, also said MISA Zambia is disappointed with some sections of the Media that decided not to report the 2016 elections in a balanced manner.

She also said MISA Zambia is further dismayed with some community and privately owned radio stations for taking political sides in the coverage of this year’s elections.

Ms Mwale charged that said such media institutions are a disgrace to the media fraternity.

The Trade Union movement in the country and some foreign observer missions praised MUVI TV station for fair and balanced coverage of the 2016 general elections.
