Government has declared Tuesday September 13, 2016 the day for the inauguration ceremony of President-elect and the Vice President-elect as a public holiday.
In a statement issued to ZANIS in Lusaka today, Secretary to the Cabinet Roland Msiska also declared Monday September 12 ,2016 as a half working day.
Dr. Msiska has since advised institutions and businesses providing essential and entertainment services to make adequate arrangements to ensure the provision of such services are not disrupted on both days.
The Secretary to the Cabinet has advised members of the public from outside Lusaka wishing to attend the inauguration ceremony to make their own travel and accommodation arrangements.
Dr. Msiska has urged those who will not be able to travel to Lusaka for the inauguration ceremony to follow the proceedings on the national television.
Meanwhile, Dr. Msiska has called on the general public to celebrate the important national occasion in a responsible and peaceful manner.
Edgar Lungu 5 more years
i thank you
This is very unproductive for Zambia and a big loss to investors.
A public Holiday for what?
when Jesus had received the sour wine,He said “IT IS FINISHED” then bowing his head and released his spirit.
GAME OVER FOR HH,,,,,,and now let Canisius Banda step up to the plate 2021 elections
Edgar Lungu 5 more years
i thank you
Instead of making Saturday a full working day, government is becoming a drain on Zambian resources. Why shall it waste millions of Kwacha on inauguration ceremony? Zambians are poor, government is broke and still they want to behave as if they are flooded with dollars, pounds, euros, Rands and trillions of Kwacha.
Stop this show-off. Stop declaring and affecting private sector business, income and schedule.
Fire 50% of government officers, Cabinet shall be only 6 ministers and 10 Permanent Secretaries in Lusaka. Zambians have to improve their work culture, efficiency and dedication.
All oldies shall be retired and told to go and till the farms, create jobs in agriculture, forestry, fishing, food industries.
I am for President Lungu but will always criticise if he spends one…
I am for President Lungu but will always criticise if he spends one ngwee on unproductive, showy business. Every minister and civil servant shall deliver and change the culture of meetings, travel, useless training seminars and parties. STOP!
If it was HH, I would have said the same.
Zambia needs result oriented leadership, from grass root to top level. President Lungu shall not have any swearing ceremonies, opening ceremonies and things like that. Stop all wasteful expenditure. Surround himself with positive thinkers and who can go to the extent of telling on his face on any and every matter they do not agree with him than boot-polishing and making cuts from every extravagant expenditure.
This Edgar likes these extravaganza stuff. Even the failed constitution was in stadium… And holiday.
Why not have the ceremony for this lazy empty tin Edgar next Saturday?
RIOT please
Lives lost – we dont mind
Give us HH so we dont do this
All UPND supporters know its strike or be struck
Just do it until this is cancelled
Thanks

This tall man is headed afar!
No need for a public holiday … we can celebrate but not grind the entire economy to a standstill. We have already lost so many hours since the election was held on August 11, 2016. The government has been running with Permanent Secretaries and no ministrial heads on top.
From August 11 to Sep 13 we have lost 34 productive days. 34 days is almost 10% of a 360 day year calendar. We can afford to lose more days … we have the Zambian Enterprise to put on the world map again as a beacon of industrialization.
We shall soon start rolling out plans for the next 5 years for the smart people of the Zambian Enterprise in the meantime, Congratulations Mr. President!! We have your back!
Good luck & God bless
Please wake up the only Enterprise Lazy Lungu is interested in is his bank balance…you talk a donkey to a pond to drink but you can not force it to drink….brace yourselves and enjoy the ride!!
Ba Jay Jay … we run this country, the presidency is our figure head! Look at all the plans we have implemented so far. Watch this space, we shall start rolling out our agenda and at the end of these 5 years we shall ask you to evaluate our performance.
That’s the difference between talking heads like you who think the presidency is a person. As UNIP as I am I have been running this country alongside LPM, RB, MCS and now ECL at I am not even at State House yet across political spectra.
FTJ was not a real president and that’s why we never worked with him. It is the main reason he took the country 40 years backward … it is time you woke up and started running this country with the rest of us. Otherwise you will die as an armchair critic
The inauguration is just for 1 day, and Zambians have the right to celebrate the inauguration of their beloved head of state and his vice.
The Zambians’ right cannot be denied on account cost when politicians are said to have the right to petition before even find any evidence, holding the nation to ransom for almost the entire month, causing more national loss through non-productivity in many areas of the economy.
So when it is a politician fight for his own ego and selfish ambition, it is their right to keep galavanting from one count to the another and back, a process that has cost the nation exceedingly far more than this single-day function.
What about the right of the commoner who wants to be accorded chance to celebrate the important event, should their right be denied?
@ B R Mumba, Sr – you are delusional you are talking about Africa here and you are there stating that a President is a mere figure head; when he has a say in all appointments – where have you been the past 2 months…really laughable…keep on dreaming about your enterprise.
You cannot run and scratch your ass at the same time. – Ethiopian Proverb
This is not a flipping Coronation. Why waste a whole day!
@ Jay Jay … We have always been in control of the Zambian Enterprise. We run this country including some of the appointment made by the presidency.
You see, if you don’t know how to get a thing done, to you it becomes impossible but not to those how to get it done.
And next time you want me to respond to you, use some civil language, I don’t need your Ethiopian proverbs to make sense of your diatribe.
Good luck
why are you complaining. ine i dont understand you people. When you had a chance to teach politicans that the moment they mess up with one thing they are out, you instead voted for more of their lunacy. so why shouldnt they continue with such extravaganza when they know you wont put them to task. No complaining please. He is not even president, but you complaining. no wonder we dont move as a people. talk to much but lack critical analysis.
I have just been in Zambia for two months. The Country is great and am back there next January. People are just getting on with it, holiday or no holiday they don’t care.
KA MUSHOTA, PLEASE, DON’T SAY, “WE”. WE WITH WHOM? OF COURSE NOT WITH ME AND MY RELATIVES AND FRIENDS AND ALL PEACE-LOVING ZAMBIANS. YOU DON’T MIND BECAUSE YOU HAVE NOTHING IN ZAMBIA. I AM NOT LIKE YOU AND THE CATEGORIES OF ZAMBIANS I HAVE MENTIONED ABOVE WHO CARE FOR THEIR BELOVED ONES AND PROPERTIES THEY HAVE INVESTED IN IN ZAMBIA. IF YOU HAVE GOT NOTHING IN ZAMBIA YOU BETTER JUST SHTUP. I LOVE ZAMBIA, I LOVE MY EVER HAPPY AND HUMBLE PEOPLE OF ZAMBIA. LONG LIVE MY PEOPLE, LONG LIVE ECL, MA INONGE WINA, SECURITY FORCES AND LONG LIVE TO ANY FRIEND OF ZAMBIA.
Half only to deny HH to be heard in court on Monday.Stupit ka Lungu bati.We shall just blow your head.
There is nothing to celebrate here.
@Hekima, this is not a forcing matter, that’s why it’s an invitation. If it has no meaning to you please stay away or go and help your Hakainde to mourn. What has been counter-productive is the prolonged mourning period of the UPND loss. We will celebrate come what may. You tell your HH that one day his grudge and hatred that he harbors will swallow him.
Marc nio:
Only a mother fuc.king prik or dic.khead like you would celebrate lawlessness and chaos! Celebrating an ex convict stealing votes to retain political power – Wan.kers!
Look, the inauguration is just for 1 day, and Zambians have the right to celebrate the inauguration of their beloved head of state and his vice.
The Zambians’ right cannot be denied on account cost when politicians are said to have the right to petition before even find any evidence, holding the nation to ransom for almost the entire month, causing more national loss through non-productivity in many areas of the economy.

What about the right of the commoner who wants to be accorded chance to celebrate the important event, should their right be…
No wonder Africa can’t develop. Is this necessary?
Absolutely unnecessary. Mr. Lungu shall spend this money from his pocket and Msiska shall pay from his pocket to private sector. This is madness of first order. Stop It!
They know nothing about productivity…Lazy Lazy Lazy Bum Edgar!!
Come on, the inauguration is just for 1 day, and Zambians have the right to celebrate the inauguration of their beloved head of state and his vice.
The Zambians’ right cannot be denied on account cost when politicians have the right to petition even before finding any evidence, holding the nation to ransom for almost the entire month, causing more loss through non-productivity in the economy.

Peace for zambia
The right of the commoner is to have 3 meals a day and a job.
@3.4 Soaks like lilo,
And the right of the politician is to petition then start scavenging for evidence.
Meanwhile the economy is threatened to get to a stand still, risking the very rights if the common man to have the said three meals a day is put at risk.
How would we even think that the same politician even cares when he campaigns against referendum, the very document that stands for the commoner to ensure his/her right to the said three meals?
Laziness at its peak!
It is not laziness alone, it is making cuts out of wasteful expenditure, amount not spent from Msiska or Mr. Lungu’s salary.
it is criminal act and if Mr. Lungu appoints me Minister of Finance I will put a condition that no such expense will be approved and President will live by example.
Zambia has potential but it has been unlucky to have visionless, lazy and unproductive Presidents, Permanent Secretaries and equally selfish and corrupt civil servants.
Stop it!
@stopit;
Which potential does Zambia have with a visionless fake and forged president? An ex convict running the Treasury and you think Zambia has a potential – may be you mean potential for total chaos and lawlessness!
Cool down, the inauguration is just for 1 day, and Zambians have the right to celebrate the inauguration of their beloved head of state and his vice.

The right of the commoner is to have 3 meals a day and a job not celebrating….
Simply ask yourself this – what would John Magufuli of Tanzania do? You will then realize what type of a useless bum we have in State House.
@4.4 Spaka like lilo,
And the right of the politician is to petition then start scavenging for evidence.

Not sour grapes, but that’s quite unproductive
Abakali bakali changwa balange nafuti nafuti
Why have a public holiday, for what? what a waste of public resources
They have no work ethic they will borrow a Eurobond from neighbors who sweat for money.
HH AND GBM SHOULD RUSH TO MATERO LOCAL COURT TO OBTAIN AN INJUNCTION
Like I stated earlier this is a govt of utterly lazy people that promotes laziness…then after that you will go to IMF and beg for loans from other tax payers who work hard for their money.
Anyway this is Lazy Bum Edgar I am not really surprised.
@8 Jay Jay, the inauguration is just for 1 day, and Zambians have the right to celebrate the inauguration of their beloved head of state and his vice.

Its a waste of time for me to explain to you if you do not understand how on a public holiday affects productivity in a the week which in turn affects the month and the year…its simply a waste of time..please just go and celebrate and drink like there is no tomorrow even when your reserves are depleted.
The right of the commoner is to have 3 meals a day and a job not celebrating and drinking chibuku then thrown on the streets to be used as PF thugs…
@ Spaka like lilo,

You simply have no idea where IMF gets its moneys and the small print..enjoy your holiday!!
If you think HH had no evidence of rigging why the delay ? This court case could have been done in 3 days but you are blocking the ublic from seeing the evidence.
PF .useless. anyway we shall not be there and will not watch deadnbc
No one is calling u but you will still hear and comment on LT
Msiska, Mrs Lungu and his children shall be sent to UK to work in shops as sales personnel on hourly basis to appreciate what hard work is, same goes for all ministers whose children shall work in shoprite, underground in mines, Zesco call centers, technicians in Zamtel and same goes for PS and army generals, their children shall go and work in private sectors paid on output-basis, no production no salary.
Then and then only dignity and value of labour will be appreciated.
Stop it!
They have no clue what am hourly wage is or howa declaring a Public holiday affects productivity all they know is reckless borrowing and dancing..they have absolutely no clue.
The economy is down, shortage everywere but we have a public holiday to support lasiness, congratulation!!!
Totally unnecessary for a returning President. Its not as if we are celebrating a new government and a new chapter in our country, Its the same PF chapter so why the holidays? Do it in the morning briefly and efficiently and go to parliament to swear in MPs in the afternoon so that come Wednesday work starts. We are weeks behind mind you!
God kill all the thieves for this elections, destroy them father in Jesus name. Some of us Zambians are not happy at all, let them die one by one for stealing our votes. The bible says thou shall not steal therefore punish them Father.
Which god?
Which father?
Are you sure in your prayer?
Just be careful so that you are not a victim of the scriptures,
God makes a promise of Vincent to his people saying:
“I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse those who curse you”
Your determination if who God’s child is may just be flawed, and this scripture may just find you trespassing.

Ya! the day everybody has been waiting for. Make it sound even more juicy “HUGGING DAY”. VIVA Zd, VIVA Democracy.
AMEN MATEO. That’s it oh my God.
Why is LT not reporting on Nevers Mumba’s arrest by a drunkard MUSEVENI-WANNABE? Is it self censorship?
Some are meant to be house-boys, not walking in the corridors of power.
Common guys,
Election day, Public holiday. Inauguration day Public Holiday. Do you know with low productivity resulting from these holidays, will definitely show up in economic indicators which will lead to Zambia continuing being regarded one of the poorest countries?
Not even rich countries can afford this luxury of Public Holidays, let alone a poor country like Zambia. THERE IS NO NEED FOR A BANK HOLIDAY DUE TO INAUGURATION, its a waste of time. But that is not to say inauguration should not be held, but it just doesn’t qualify for a public holiday.
No wonder you are a very poor third world country holiday for what let people work
Slow down, the inauguration is just for 1 day, and Zambians have the right to celebrate the inauguration of their beloved head of state and his vice.
The Zambians’ right cannot be denied on account cost when politicians have the right to petition even before finding any evidence, holding the nation to ransom for almost the entire month, causing more loss through non-productivity in the economy.

I like your responses guys. The fact that PF supporters and opposition supporters find the declaration of next Tuesday as a holiday on account of presidential inauguration senseless. I love you Zambians that you can get angry at wastage of valuable and productive time.
Yes yes yes lungu….. have a public holiday to celebrate the rape and plunder of democracy and zambias public reasources.
You have no shame.
HH Is insulting your concourt judges so they sue so the rigging evidence can be seen. Lets see if you will take him to court.
The happy are more than the sad.
The inauguration is just for 1 day, and Zambians have the right to celebrate the inauguration of their beloved head of state and his vice.

The right of the commoner is to have 3 meals a day a job and be able to send his kids to school…. not be given chibuku and back on the streets the next day to be used as PF thugs.
@20.1 Spaka like lilo,
And the right of the politician is to petition then start scavenging for evidence.

Show the rigging evidence, why are you causing delays ?
So the few Zambians who have a job can now join the unemployed majority for 1.5 days
Mother Zambia..what have we done to deserve this mediocrity of politicians?? This country is already on its knees economically and we should continue to waste manhours…kaya chabe
However long it takes, perhaps even 30 years, anyone who breached Article 104(3) will face Lady Justice.
@Jay Jay, somwhere in your comments you suggest that the inaugurstion should be held on Saturday. No sir., us we follow the constitution and laws of the land. The day of Inauguration is stipulated in the constitution. You guys in UPND obviously dont follow the law which is why you cannot even interpret 14 days for your petition.
And I will tell you that if it was HH inauguration would last a whole week. By week I mean 7 days.kikikikiki
The consitution also says lungu should let the speaker take power during the court case did that happen ?
dr msiska used to be a christian many years ago. now the fruites of righteousness have all dropped and the tree has withered. i hope he will “come out it my people” and chose -like moses did when saw his people oppressed by the slave masters.
I’m neither pf or upnd but what? do we need a holiday for a president’s inauguration? The man is taking an oath for his job why should we stop our jobs for that?
@23.1 spaka like lilo, no it did not happen because it cannot happen and the constitution does not say so except in a rerun. This is just one example of the illiteracy of UPND leaders and their cadres who xannot even understand that 14 days is 14 calendar days unless it says excluding weekends and holidays as in all.legal documents. The only people in the world who say and agree with what UPND says and does are UPND themselves and you.
However long it takes, perhaps even 30 years, anyone who breached Article 104(3) will face Lady Justice.
By the way, I have not heard or seen any stagltement of solidarity from UPND regarding the incarceration of two groups of UPND leaders for two separate aggravated robbery. Mwaliteta and group are in Lusaka prison while Copperbelt UPND Povincial Chairperson Elisha Matambo and his group are languishing in Kamfinsa prison. That has to be heartless of HH and his group isn’t? Or are they hiding something? E.g. that is the reason why the petition collapsed due to lack of evidence as the two groups falied to “create” the evidence which UPND so awaited eagerly.
And which is why HH is so desperate runing from court to court to prevent inauguration because all will be kaud bare after inauguration……kikikikiki…..twali ishiba kale, HH camnot cheat us….but he will go in just like Matambo once his criminal activities are laid bare, very soon…kikikiki…sorry spaka
Do not commiserate with Spaka, wail for yourself on the woe you have brought on this land.
However long it takes, perhaps even 30 years, anyone who breached Article 104(3) will face Lady Justice.
CONGRATS PRESIDO LUNGU ! GOD IS GREAT AND HE LOVES YOU ! JUST COME UP WITH A GOOD CABINET AND ENSURE THAT SENIOR CIVIL SERVANTS AT ALL LEVELS WHO WERE SHOWING YOU TEETH BUT DECAMPAIGNING YOU ARE DISMISSED SO THAT THEY JOIN POLITICS OPENLY.IF YOU DO NOT ACT NOW,THEY WILL CONTINUE CONNIVING WITH THE OPPOSITION AND DELIBERATELY FRUSTRATE YOUR GOVERNMENT……WE EXPECT SHU SHUS TO DO A GOOD JOB SO THAT YOUR WORK BECOMES EASY.
EDGER LUNG U IS THE PRESIDENT FOR ZAMBIA AND FOR ZAMBIANS IF DO NOT WANT TO ACEPT HIM RELINGUISH YOUR CITIZENERY TO CREATE YOUR OWN NATION WITH SELFISH GENERATION OF YOUR OWN. BAMAMBALA AS LONG AS YUR IN ZAMBIA WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT HE IS THE HEAD OF STATE. UN WILL NEVER INVITE HH/GBM FOR HEADS OF STASTE MEETINGS NEVER! EVEN WHEN A MISTAKE IS MADE WHEN TYPING THE COMPUTER WILL REFUSE, EVEN WHEN THE TYPIST FORCESIT THE HANDS OF A TYPIST WILL GET FADE UP. PLEASE OSAMWA DOOM!
Have you ever wondered why people in despotic nations celebrate their strongman?
Why would someone celebrate a ConCourt thief and label them a hero?
Don’t look far or elsewhere….the madness is right here before you!
UPND cadres are easily deceived.
Which constitution provides for handing over power to the speaker following a petition under initial ballot?
It appears HH is quite a good music composer. He composes a song;
” A eeeh, a eeeh;
handover power, a eeeh!
A eeeh, a eeeh,
To the speaker, a eeeh!”
Come on, there is no handing over power following a petition under the initial ballot, covered by Articles 101 and 102.
The handing over of power comes following a petition done subsequent to second ballot, or simply put round two (2) of elections, dealt with under Articles 103 and 104.
Please read the constitution, don’t rely on HH. He read it only in one day, no wonder most of the issues are taken out of context.
Yes yes and lungu read and understood the consitution like how he ordered ministers to keep campaining for him even after parliament was dissolved…..
At the rate bizarre things are currently happening, Zambia is about to be declared a monarchy by the marauding lunatics and Lungu will be wamuyayaya king and will rule like the new Philippines murderous dictator.
The goose is cooked. Thank you Mr. President for the PUBLIC HOLIDAY.
