The Non-Governmental Organizations’ Coordination Council (NGOCC) has condemned stakeholders condemning Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) President Linda Kasonde over her remarks against Presidential Aide Amos Chanda’s statement on the judiciary.

NGOCC Chairperson Sarah Longwe says as a women’s movement, the organization stands in solidarity with Ms. Kasonde and conclude that the personal attacks against her are being perpetuated in order to silence all legitimate views being expressed against the government.

Ms Longwe said her organization further stands and supports the views expounded by LAZ regarding disparaging remarks made against the Judiciary.

She said Zambia being a democracy should operate under the democratic tenets of separation of powers and all three wings of government the Judiciary, Executive and Legislature should all be allowed to operate freely without undue influence or intimidation from any one wing.

She believes that such remarks directed at the judiciary will only work to destroy the young democracy that the country is building.

Ms Longwe stated that NGOCC is especially concerned that if this trend of intimidation to institutions such as the judiciary and LAZ in particular continues, the voices of women and children as well as their vested interest will be suppressed even more.

The NGOCC Chairperson has since demanded that Ms. Kasonde be allowed to discharge her duties free of intimidation and personal attacks.

    • My concern is that a number of these NGO’S seem to exist only to fight government of the day. LAZ have also joined that crusade. What are their mandates exactly. I would have loved to see them getting involved with actual vulnerable people in society, educating them on their rights. As for LAZ is supposed to ensure that Zambian people have access to legal representation and know procedures to such things! Are we seeing the West sponsoring these NGO’S to disturbilize their countries?

    • @Kabu:
If you know that you are an empty tin, you should just shut up instead of exposing your total Ignorance and Stupidity in public like you have done!! Do you know how LAZ was formed and its purpose? You just need to read the statutory provisions before yapping carelessly like a mad person. Why would a Kaponya like you try to redefine the purpose of LAZ in the terms of a mad man like you? Arse.whore!

    • @Chilyata

I stopped arguing with you a long time ago! To me you don’t fit any definition of a normal human being! The way you respond to others just says a lot about what you are!

    • Today is Saturday, rebroadcast was Thursday and still waiting for Edgar to defend his worker Amos Chanda. Did ZNBC refuse Edgar’s request?

    • They have said nothing about women killing men.It now explains why they didnt come out to condemn HH when he insulted the judiciary because the LAZ president is a woman!
The judges HH insulted were also women so whats special about Linda?

    • ALL THOSE OPPOSING LINDA’S STANCE ARE MERE BOOT LICKERS TRYING TO DEFEND ALL THE WRONG THINGS ABOUT PF. CHANDA WANTS TO KEEP HIS JOB FOR AS LONG AS HE CAN SO THAT WAYAYA CAN EXPAND ITS TENTACLES FAR AND BEYOND – PURELY PERSONAL GAIN. STOP THE ROT AND DO WHAT IS RIGHT FOR ALL ZAMBIANS. PLEASE DISCUSS REAL ISSUES LIKE THE SOLWEZI CHINGOLA ROAD..THATS WHERE YOUR ENERGIES SHOULD BE DIRECTED. RIGHT NOW YOU ARE WASTING YOUR ENERGIES WAFFLING ABOUT THINGS THAT SEEM TO THREATEN YOUR STAY IN POWER. WISE UP AND DO NOT MAKE TOO MANY ENEMIES, THIS IS A SMALL WORLD AS YOU WILL SOON SEE.

    • Ala bane … nomba iyo imfuti mu sunaminepo nga yati ichite discharge … teti mwailasa mu musula??? Ungafe baba!!! Funny gravatar you got … more power to you though.

Ala bane … nomba iyo imfuti mu sunaminepo nga yati ichite discharge … teti mwailasa mu musula??? Ungafe baba!!! Funny gravatar you got … more power to you, though.

    • Ms Kasonde-Esquire(ss) should also condemn United Party for National Dunderheads/ Destruction (UPND) statements and acts of violence which has seen untold suffering of PF supporters in UPND strongholds – if the ICC should see that the Hungry Hyena has a case to answer why can’t our own Law Association of Zambia?Personally to add on I think checks and balances are good in a democracy so Laz as a gauge should continue issueing statements on areas they feel the State is lacking on as long as that is constructive criticism and not for political purposes.

  1. THEY MANAGED TO SILENCE THE CON COURT, BUT ARE THEY GOING TO DO THE SAME TO ALL OF US. GENUINELY I DOUBT GENUINELY PFs’ VICTORY, I SMELL A RAT.

  2. The constitutional court is also led by a woman and three of the judges who were insulted by HH and GBM are women yet this Linda and her minnows kept silent?

  3. She is the only pretty Bemba girl I have seen since Mama Mary Kankasa. Kankasa I will marry even mow, and change her name to Ma-Nolianga.

  4. To exist in Zambia now one needs to sing praise songs for PF. Ba PF you are very dull if you think we are all PF cadres. Chanda is a very junior man who will soon be answerable to the laws of Zambia as he has no immunity unlike his boss

  5. The ignorance ( Davies Mwila) versus civilization ( Linda Kasonde). Iam Bemba but I hate PF because of ignorance, intimidation, and violence they commit everyday.
UPND also has same policies like there are counterpart PF.
Sata was a cadre in his political career. A violent man, he recruited violent people and took advantage of their vulnerability like Late Nakawala, the likes of Judge Ngoma those who cannot question their boss, they simply follow orders.
We want a party that talks about saperation of powers where by the judges should be elected, the policies that can help reduce poverty. Transparency in what there are doing. NOT where Roads Department is under State House all the deals are done by the president to get all the kickbacks.

  6. Civilized individuals apologize and admit it when they are wrong. PF lack that kind of civility. All they know is argue, and argue and argue. Why can’t you be humble and admit your mistakes?

    • Did HH apologize to the Concourt judges he called criminals and thugs? Meimatungu, you claim to be nonpartisan, but as is said in the Holy Book, they shall be known by their fruits. Don’t even waste our time lying that that you are not UPND and are neutral.

    • @14.1 Patriot

This has nothing to do with HH. Secondly, HH is not the standard of morality. Please do yourself a favor – speak to the matter at hand. I know neither HH nor Lungu. My blogging record will show you where I have switched sides on issues – attacking UPND and their HH as I have seen fit on occasion, as well as attacking PF and its cornucopia of discreditable characters, as I am doing right now. Does that make me UPND?

  7. Leave Linda Kasonde alone. The LAZ voted her in not as crap but as woman of intergrity WITH BACK-UP EDUCATION. All the lawyers of ZAMBIAN TRUST HER LEADERSHIP. SO WHO ARE YOU TO START THROWING MUD AT HER ? VIVA LINDA !!!.

  8. Comment:
A movement for women, sounds discriminatory, what’s its male equivalent in Zambia? Not necessary, nor important, is my view.
