Southern Province Commissioner of Police Bonny Kapeso has warned people across the province to stay away from any acts of violence as police will not tolerate any lawlessness.

Speaking when he made an exclusive address to the province on Byta FM’s breakfast show Tuesday morning, Kapeso says police will use reasonable force to deal with anyone who will be found wanting.

Kapeso reveals that there are some reports across the province indicating that suspected United Party for National Development (UPND) members are planning to riot following reports that police officers in Lusaka last night raided their leader Hakainde Hichilema’s home.

The no nonsense Province Commissioner charges that police have intercepted a WhatsApp group message purported to be from UPND Southern Province Youth Chairperson Malambo Mweemba ordering youths from the opposition party to organize themselves for possible protests or riots.

Kapeso also discloses that police have impounded two Toyota Corolla cars registration numbers AJC 594 and ALJ 4098 that were on the road allegedly abandoned by the rioters.

He warns that he does not want to see people being admitted in Hospitals due to the force police will apply to people who will disobey police orders.

This morning, police used teargas to disperse suspected UPND cadres who blocked roads and burnt tyres on the Great North road demanding that police should immediately leave Hichilema’s House.

And the UPND Media Team alleges that heavily armed police officers broke the main gate of the home of Hichilema to gain entry and current reports are suggesting that police officers have since taken Hichilema to Woodlands police.

Meanwhile, business in Choma central town this morning came to a standstill as traders ran away from the teargas discharged by the Police.

There was a traffic jam due to panic by motorists who were trying to find their way out of the Central District Business (CBD).

According to an eye witness whose name has been withheld, Police arrived at Maamba bus station and started harassing a man who was found at a named shop.

The witness explains that the suspect was ordered to open the shop for police who suspected that it had some diesel which would be used for the riot but the man refused arguing that the shop does not belong to him.

Upon hearing this, police started beating up the man a situation that made on-lookers to attempt rescuing the victim.

The police however retaliated by discharging teargas at the people.

The named woman claims Police broke the door to the shop and collected a drum of Diesel and some containers of cooking oil

  1. This HH issue if not handled properly, and not following what the law says with regards to UPND pipo who want to create chaos in the country just for the sake of it, and at all costs, shall create turmoil in Zambia.

Please inform GBM that he’s BEMBA and that bemba pipo don’t behave with such calamitous behaviours. Let him advice this HH friend of his that Zambian is bigger than UPND and therefore, they both should desist from causing havoc just for the sake of it. Unless GBM has South African genes in him then, his DNA matches with that of HH; the pipo that ordinated from kwa-zulu land.

  2. The correct thing was to give a ticket to the driver. HH was not the driver. But Lingu’s lapdog Zulu wanted to steal because he is a primitive man. The Zambia police have become lapdogs of Lungu but they will know what other African countries have learn to their bitter regret. That chaos and trouble follows a dictator. Give the man a citation for driving past a motorcade. Zambia police officers are thieves. The system of law and order has broken down under this alcoholic and Zambia has become like Zimbabwe. Lungu has learnedfrom his bastard father , Mugabe. The laughter you hear is Mugabe laughing at Zambia’s fall.

    • This kind of reasoning is archaic. So since the president was not driving himself then HH distracted the presidents driver? Guys the driver for HH was driving under instructions so the one giving instructions should answer to these charges. My only advice to UPND people is that do not loose your lives over someone who wants to get into state house no matter what? You have families to take care of. Please do not fight battles for other people who do not even know where you stay. Please do not die

    • ba miya, did you know that people like you used to tell kaunda in those days ati. do not lose your life, anso the british have promised you a good life and your children free education in UK. just take it. If all our freedom fighters acted the way you suggest now, would you have this country you call zambia now? ask yourself this? There can be no progress without struggle and for the people who are marginalised in this country because of their tribe have had enough. they will struggle and fight just like the blacks in america did for their rights, just like kaunda did for the rights of his people. Just like mandela did for his people. Miya, am sure you would have told mandela ati ba Guy just forget it, think of your children and wife. you have family to take care of, dont jeopardize it…

  3. Driver was instructed by HH, HH knows rules when president is passing what to do.so many people wants to rule Zambia let HH go they are some other people will join

  4. Zambians are living like the Zimbambwens through Lungu- Magabe dictatorship, Shame on you Lungu, Wait until the day comes when you are going to pay with a slow death, paying for what you have done in Zambia. Zambia is now the poorlest country in the world because of have a faceless president like Mugabe, You Lungu and Mugabe you are moving graves. Dust to Dust no matter you do just remember, Pay back will be swift and sweet

  5. So sad that police have to act in retrospect to save face on their incompetence! Security was not properly handled by those detailed to secure it for the president and now to save face and dance to please the voices of the master and PF cadres Zambia experiences police swinging into action with a very stupid charge! African mediocrity forever and backwards governance policies by some miracle are what is believed will deliver development! Zambia is now a dictatorship arising from leadership insecurity!

  6. Kikikikikiki……donkeys shall never cease to amaze me! They fail to advise their chief donkey and when he is arrested ati release him! You Donkeys, ni police ya Nyoko?

  7. Upnd is fighting a losing battle.HH has no numbers to cause havoc in Zambia and win.if HH was controlling Lusaka and copperbelt, the state may worry.the massive suppory which HH has is in 3.5 provinces and those are in minority.right now Lusaka and copperbelt is very quiet and many people spoken to are blaming HH’s bad conduct in mongu.blind tonga followers in southern will die here for nothing.SO STAY AWAY AND LET HH &GBM FIGHT FOR THEMSELVES AS THEY KNEW WHAT THEY WERE DOING IN MONGU!!!why should you get injured or killed for the sake of HH as if you will benefit if he wins?i voted for Edgar Lungu, has he given me any ngwee?Big No!!BE WISE GUYS AND LETS DO CIVILISED POLITICS.HH COMMITED A CRIME AND HE MUST FACE THE LAW-SIMPLE!!WE MUST ALL VALUE OUR PEACE.ANY PEACE BREAKER MUST BE CAGED!!

    • So if that is so why harass the person for no reason? BY was not the one driving the car in Mongu. You voted for Lungu and got what you want, newer or no ngwee, Lungu is there till the next general election.
There only way to have a calm situation, is to have a leader who does not twitch when he sees his own shadow

  8. We have a lot of chinese experts at ZICTA and OP,so all your plans are known very fast.if you are not careful, you will soon join HH,Mwaliteta,Mukobela, and others in jail or get killed.so stay away!!let the police and courts work in peace.if HH is innocent,he will be set free soon!!

  9. Let the civil war begin.
A new Zambia will be a better one.
Economic empowerment for the indigenous people is envisaged.
Control of your resources is guaranteed.
Employment for your university graduates is assured.

  10. Congratulations on taking strides back to the UNIP era, Now eveyone knows why KK has been so silent.
Next we will change our name to ZAMBABWE.
If we want to move into the 21st century we have go forwrd not into reverse.
Who enjoyed the economics, lack of personal freedom in UNIP days

  11. President Lungu must jail HH enough is enough. He is hell bent on division. He will not rest until Zambia burns.Umupampamìna takwaba please let go.

    • And so is Lungu…! He is diving the nation.
Lungu is supposed the governe the nation, but the man is busy chasing after BY, why?
Zambia is a failed state, run by kaponas

  12. jailing HH will cause Zambia to burn. You pf cadres will one day regret your f00lishness thinking. in the first place, the police have caused lawlessness by breaking HH’s house because we have thugs at state house

    • The OF government have no grounds or case to jail opposition for treason. Lungu is insecure and that’s what this all about. He won the election, why doesn’t he rule the country as he promised? No country has ever won 100% vote! A lot of people never bother to vote, and try to stay away from political arena. Is he going to arrest them because the did not put him in office.??? Wake up Zambia
Opposition do not agree with government, hence the term opposition! ,

    • If there will be any riots as a result of arresting this law breaker, its only his cows in southern province which will riot, else where it is business as usual.

  13. Money made HH big headed. Goodnight HH hope there is enough lice and bedbuds in your 5* prison room. You don’t mark around with the life of the president. Claiming you won election was enough for you but not to play with real matters amounting to life-threatening of a sitting president. Letting you drive at par with the president was a good way of giving you enough rope to hang yourself because you were so excited with your so called thunderous welcome kwabulizi. Sweet dreams baba.
