Former Chipolopolo striker Rotson Kilambe is delighted to be recognised as a COSAFA Cup legend as the competition marks the 20th anniversary this year.

Kilambe is one of the eight former regional stars COSAFA have invited for this year’s championship to be staged in South Africa’s North West province from June 25-July 9.

The rest are famous Mozambique legend Tico Tico, ex- Bafana Bafana keeper Brian Baloyi, Dipsy Selolwane from Botswana, retired Zimbabwe midfielder Tinashe Nengomasha, Swaziland’s Siza Dlamini, former Lesotho defender Lehlohonolo Seema and Namibia’s Johannes ‘Congo’ Hindjou.

“I am humbled to be recognised by COSAFA as a legend. I am glad to be invited for this year’s tournament to go and speak to upcoming players,” Kilambe said in Kitwe.

The former Zanaco and Power Dynamos star is famous for scoring a lone goal when Zambia beat Zimbabwe in the final to win the 1998 COSAFA Cup in Harare.

Kilambe won Man of the Match in his debut in the COSAFA Castle Cup in a 1-0 win over Malawi in 1998 and also bagged a brace and another Man of the Match prize in 2002 in victory over Mozambique.
