Popular South African house music group launched their latest album “Familia” at The Misty Jazz restaurant and cafe in lusaka on Saturday 26th August.
The audience went into raptures when Mi Casa went onto the stage. Their energetic performances of their many hit singles including ,“Jika”, “Heavenly sent”,”Dont wanna be”,”These streets”,”Turn you on”, was simply amazing. Lead singer J’Something took some time to interact with the audience. He talked about how the group almost broke up a few months ago. Them coming back together and sorting out their differences gave birth to the album ‘Familia’. Families go through rough patches but still stick together in the end.
They went on to play some track from the new album and showed off their creative dance moves which the audience absolutely loved. Songs like “Nana”, “Vida e Doce” and “Familia” were crowd favorites.
Mi Casa ended their set with the song “Bamba” and had the audience screaming for more.
Mi Casa’s fourth LP is inspired by camaraderie—and the bond this lively threesome has developed with audiences across the continent since 2011’s self-titled debut. In combining local elements of jazz, Afro house and gospel—with more exotic references to the music of Brazil and the Cape Verde—this SAMA-winning group deliver an eclectic crossover of epic proportions. Opening track “Nana” effortlessly showcases the band’s trademark sound—Dr Duda’s production, J’Something’s cool vocals and Mo-T’s infectious trumpet playing—to full effect.
Other acts at the launch included Slap Dee , house DJ, El Mukuka and Crazy fish. Slap Dee had a stellar performance. He started off his set with a soulful rendition of his song “Looking for love”. King Dizzo ( as he would like to be referred to as) then went on to perform his hit singles such “Ratsa” , “Waumfwa” , “kuichaila” , and songs from his critically acclaimed new album ,Black Na White 2 , “No wonder” and “Radio“. He called some excited fans to perform the song “Niyokosa” with him on stage, much to the amusement of the other audience members. Slap Dee’s exuberant performance and fan interaction clearly exhibited why he is the ‘King’ of Zambian hiphop.
The Mi Casa “Familia” album launch was a magnificent night of live music , fans definitely got their moneys worth at this event.

I am getting old, I don’t see anything interesting about this. I am sure HH can’t spend 3 minutes there.
Was Kaiser Zulu at that party, definitely, maybe he even helped check tickets.
