Share

Two pupils who were caught on video assaulting a fellow pupil at Cengelo School have been expelled.

In a statement issued late on Monday, school management said the two pupils have been expelled permanently from the school.

The statement said the School Board’s Disciplinary Sub-Committee met on Monday and resolved to permanently exclude the two students responsible for the physical assault.

“Investigations and interviews regarding all students involved will be ongoing during the course of this week and we are working with and supporting the active police enquiry,” it said.

“We would like to state again that Chengelo School does not tolerate bullying in any form and we continue to review and strengthen our policies and student support mechanisms to ensure the safeguarding of our students.”

“As stated previously, we will be holding an open meeting for parents at the school when term resumes on Sunday 15th October at 13.00hrs to communicate in person.”

It added, “Counseling services will be made available to students and we will be holding specific sessions with all classes to discuss and review the incident itself and the broader issues involved.”

    • Those two boys should face criminal litigation for such barbaric behaviour. If this had been white boys beating up a black boys we would all be screaming racism. Very unfortunate

    • @Zagaze, Quit sounding like a pregnant frog. It doesn’t matter what race they are, they are kids no matter what race they shouldn’t behave like that. But if you insist, they are from the human race.

    • ZAGAZE – DOES IT MATTER WHAT RACE WAS INVOLVED IN THE BULLYING – WHEN TWO PUPILS PHYSICALLY ASSAULT ANOTHER PUPIL WHILE BEING SURROUNDED BY SUPPORTERS IT IS BULLYING ! THIS IS NOT A RACE ISSUE !!!!! ‘

  1. Good move! Schools are not only for acedemic Excellence but the totality of the human person and as such such behavior is not condoned but investigations should go I am sure this behavior has been going on for a long time. I could believe looking at such bullying I wonder how the parents of that boy are feeling. Shame on the school! Shame on administration!!!

  3. This is a good move. Will surely send my child there for his secondary education because I know that he will be in safe hands. Well done SMT.

  4. Good move by the school Board.
But the school fees for this school are a killer..I remember my parents spending sleepless nights…
I am glad that chapter is closed.

    • Spending sleepless nights feeling sorry for parents who take their children to Chengelo school tefyo! Your parents are warm hearted for thinking about other people. Grow up in the same manner and make Zambia a better place.

  5. The coin has two sides. You have to look at both sides to see its beauty. So the school authorities should look at all the nitty gritties which lead to that bullying. Expelling the two bullies is not enough to stop that behavior. It might be rampant even in other houses/domes. That was sad anyway!!!!

    • Didn’t you see that the white fellow was defenseless? someone tried to stop the fight but the chi bully in a checked short thought the was a Champion. That fight was supposed to be for two people not three, does it mean all of them were involved with the same girl? They are indiscipline children, they deserved what they got anyway.

  6. VIOLENCE BEGATS VIOLENCE.. AND Iron SHARPENS iron… COULD THESE BE UPND CHILDREN??? … MY GUESSING COULD BE RIGHT.. GIVE US THE NAMES

  7. @ E B HIBALWA (Edgar Bwalya Hibalwa- is that the meaning of your names?): May God forgive you, you do not know what you are talking about. How do you bring in UPND. This means you are a PF Cadre whose mind is always thinking evil. Don’t become an ambassador of the Devil. I am only asking if the school can hand them over now to the Police. Some Parents of these Children are very humble but the seed comes something else. They really need counseling.

  8. This is how true leadership operates. If it was someone I know, she would have said “give me evidence that there was extreme bullying,” or “take your evidence to police to investigate.”

  9. Next it should be the so called ‘Jean the Baptist’ and Bowman Lusambo to be suspended from the national assembly. These shameless leaders are the ones setting a bad example to our children in schools

  10. One of the boys is actually the nephew to corrupt and violent Chris Mvunga former Deputy Minister of Finance and now Deputy Secretary to Cabinet’s. His Uncle Chris also has that sought of behavior

  11. If PF acted like this school on its violent cadres and PF police, violence would be a thing of the past in Zambia;

  12. Well done school management. This was the only logical decision to be taken. How I wish other perpetrators of violence, whether real or implied, would be treated in the same way!

  13. The boy who tried to stop the bullying should be recommended and the children who did. Toning to help should also be talked to because they also let it happen. The bullies were out numbered here so people should learn to defend and not be intimidated. By doing nothing they became accomplices and the one filming was even laughing.
