National House of Prayer Advisory Board Chairperson Bishop Joshua Banda says there is need for Zambians to use the National Day of Prayer and Fasting to fostering national unity and put the interest of country the first.

Dr. Bishop Banda said it is the responsibility of every Zambian to pray for the nation so that the declaration of the national day of prayer and fasting should strengthen the unity and promote peace and unity in diversity.

The clergy said the day of prayer has bought a new dispensation in the declaration of the nation as a Christian nation because it has become a day that people from all walks of life gather to pray to God.

He emphasized that Zambia is one family that should learn to co-exist and this is the only way true Christian value which will foster unity, love and peace in the country.

Dr .Banda added Zambians have demonstrated its commitment to uphold the Christian love by coming together to seek God.

He stated that with oneness Zambia has renewed its aspirations to remain a united country in diversity and this re affirms that no power would rise and fight against the God of Zambia.

Reverend Bishop Chipasha Musaba, the Copperbelt Presbytery Bishop in his homily, encouraged Zambians to look to God for their strength and guidance.

And Anglican Arch bishop in Central and Southern Africa Father Albert Chama said the country to repent and be reconciled to God as these are key elements to achieving success.

Fr Chama said the nation has chosen to hurt one another through hurt speech and not respected the leaders as the people need to hence there is need for repentance.

He said repentance should be practical as this will give a new start for reconciliation of people in the country and it will consolidate the unity in the country.

This years’ commemoration of the National Day of Prayer, Fasting, Repentance and National Reconciliation was held under the theme “Repentance: Promoting Peace and Reconciliation: Consolidating National Unity in Diversity.”

    • Matthew 6
5 And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward. 6 But when you pray, go into your inner room, shut your door, and pray to your Father, who is unseen. And your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. 7 And when you pray, do not babble on like pagans, for they think that by their many words they will be heard.…

    • Matthew 6 vs
15 But if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive yours. 16 When you fast, do not be somber like the hypocrites, for they disfigure their faces to show men they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they already have their reward. 17 But when you fast, anoint your head and wash your face,…
SO BASICALLY WHY DID WE GO AGAINST THESE 2 BY NOT DOING IT IN SECRET.

    • Doesnt he know 90 percent of Zambians are naturally fasting permanently and its involuntary. Soon they will be on hunger strike by force. What a con man making money from hypnotized Zambians

    • After now we have more than one Prayer and Fasting as a nation, the steering committee can go back to the people and get the feed back. As a simple question both to those boycotting and the ones attending. what is it we are not doing to help us improve?

  2. Tell lungu to answer kambwili and account for his wealth.. ……people are dying of cholera and students can not afford school….

    # bring back our $42 million….

  3. These id**ots Joshua Banda and Pukuta Mwanza, Christians for Lungu and not for God, will be shamed!

    Watch this space.

    • National prayers whose interest is only to take stock of who attended the gathering among the “notables” who in their hearts only harbored only what God would know yet the genuine man or woman who attended from our many compounds was not a factor worth of mention let alone recognition for they did not matter as faces of politicians! Why would I attend such a circus mocking God? Showing up at stadiums dotted around the country gives meaning to this so called national day of prayer? I totally refuse it for its not genuine as dedication prayer is deeper than posturing to the gallery! May God punish all pretenders who congregated to coat political divisiveness using the Lords name with their rhetoric!

    • Agreed 100% @ Fumanchu and I wonder. True all so called VIPs (vipers) gathered in Kitwe so as to be identified with the so called ” Great leader ” leaving the nonentities to gather in other towns. Shockingly even the Lusaka prayers were deserted despite such a high population. What a country and people! We can’t see that religion is effectively being used by the politicians to hoodwink people from seeing the wrongs being committed in the country. Cult worship of political leaders is now the order of the day instead of holding them accountable. Shameful.

  4. Dear lord,
Kindly deal with these men that have brought and done so much damage to your holy name. You created the universe and all in it.Deal with these men and dont wait for long

  5. Wishful thinking won’t take this country anywhere. These phariees are like ticks. Very parasitic con men.

We have lost the plot as a country.

  6. Do these w@nkers realise that by declaring a holiday to go and waste time fasting has increased poverty by loss of productivity! The chinese were busy working while these miserable natives prayed and prayed and prayed. And all the prayers were for Lungu, has God ‘threatened’ to kill Lungu?

  7. BA BUSA BANDA NABA PUKUTA MWANZA , YOU ARE BAD SHERPHERDS AND I REPEAT YOU VERY BAD SHEPHERDS.DO NOT THINK THAT WE DO NOT KNOW WHAT IS HAPPENING SIRS .UNLESS GOD IS BLIND UNLESS GOD DOES NOT CARE .TIME IS COMING VERY VERY SOON.YOU ARE THE GEHAZIS OF THIS AGE.REPROSY WILL STRIKE YOU .YOU ARE BUSY HIDING IN THE NAME OF GOD BUT WHAT YOU ARE DOING IS EVIL.YOUR SHEEP IS DIENG IN POVERTY WHILE YOU ARE ENRICHING YOURSELVES.[ ISAIAH 9;16 ]THOSE WHO GUIDE THIS PEOPLE MISLEAD THEM,AND THOSE WHO ARE GUIDED ARE LED ASTRAY. 18 SURELY WICKEDNESS BURNS LIKE A FIRE ;IT CONSUMES BRIERS AND THORNS ,IT SETS THE FOREST THICKESTS ABLAZE ,SO THAT IT ROLLS UPWARDS IN A COLUMN OF SMOKE. WHAT EVER YOU ARE DOING YOU WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE

  8. let’s just work bane. Prayers will bring nothing. Christopher columbus prayed to god but he still got lost. We are lost as well

  9. Just shut up you useless, bishop? Have you ever seen other churches involve themselves in politicting like you No, why you?

  10. Continue closing your eyes while the Chinese consolidate their hold on Zambia – second Chinese colony after Jamaica. It is diligent hands that bring wealth and not lazy praying and fasting ones! It was wrong to bring religion to Africa!

  11. This man and his cabal of corupt clergy has no wisdom from God. Blessed men of God do not sit and plan with the wicked. This man like in the days of Bible prophets has ignored the injustices being committed against the poor, the fatherless child and the widow. Organising prayers to appease corupt leaders and receiving stolen riches but failing to condemn them is the worst form of hypocrisy punishable only by fire and brimstone. Bishop banda and your accomplices repent while there is time. The money being wasted on these political campaigns disguised as national prayer meetings can be better used to help the suffering masses. Remember God cannot be mocked and is watching.

  12. These are wolves in Sheep skins who have proved so, many times over! They see the injustice that the drunken president , but sup with him and condone the corruption going on in this administration. These are not voices of the voiceless, they lack objectivity and do not speak for the downtrodden but instead massage the injustice of their paymaster. Shame on you!
