Saboi Imboela responds to UPND’s Larry L Mweetwa on why she defected to NDC

1. Tribalism is a toxic chemical or cancer that permeated UPND. The situation irredeemable unless other Zambian takes over UPND. A new party away without PF and UPND stands chance to land a winning mandate than UPND. There is something wrong with our tonga brothers. Tribe takes precedence over everything in their minds.

   • HH may run 10 times or for life, UPND will continue struggling to win the hearts of majority Zambians who naturally disdain UPND’s sectarian causes of its Bantustanism. Laundering MMD officials that have have stuffed in all positions done at a gland scale without convention will not sanitize UPND of its provable appetite for Bantustanism.

4. I like UPND but this revelation is distasteful. I believe UPND has very good people who believe in its ideals but like everything else in Zambia at the moment, people tend to use anything to gain them some advantage. A sense of belonging or entitlement!?? I don’t think this is strictly just in UPND. Look at PF composition of positions – also equally tribal, even in areas where their tribes are minority they are still majority in the PF party posts even there. Perhaps smaller parties are still free of this disease.

   • I Agree, there are frustrations everywhere even in being adopted. If you have a degree in political science is it automatic that even when you are just being too abscission you should be picked? I dont think so.
     Frustartions have caused many pipo to resign and the case of her is not new. Suppose there are twenty pipo with degrees in poplitical science should all be taken or adopted for a single seat? Its illogical.

Let us join parties on he basis that you agree with its principles, not because it is full of our tribe. 18. The fact that it comes from a former member, it carries so much weight. My version has always been that every tonga is upnd by default and Saboi has strengthened and exposed that belief. This tribalism is inherent in tongas and first surfaced during the independence struggle in the 60’s headed by Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula. KK managed to suppress this tribalism. With the advent of multi-partism, one needs to look at the origin of upnd, why it was formed and why it attracted a huge population of tongas to its membership. 27. Let me make it very clear here. By pointing out tribalistic tendencies in politics I’m not saying Zambia is rotten with tribal divisions. Infact, suspicisions and divisions based on tribe are really going away fast. There are many examples I can give but LT has limited space. As Zambians we are naturally very good people, according to my observation and it doesn’t matter where somebody comes from. 40. In Zambia, tribes that have from the onset been seriously aspiring for presidency emanate from Eastern (KK), Northern (Kapwepwe) and Southern (Nkumbula). Even Western has silently aspired but being convinced of no chance at all, they have opted for secession. So the issue of tribe is everywhere except that the metropolitan city of Lusaka can decide for any contester from the top three regions. Lungu won because of the unity of Eastern and Northern. This time around, the contest will be stiffer coz Northern and Eastern will not be on the same side.

47. It has been well known for the longest time that UPND is strictly a tribal party with deep rooted tribal roots.
