A couple that was being treated for Cholera escaped from Siavonga District Hospital on Sunday night and was later apprehended by Siavonga police at around 23 hours .
The husband is a Siavonga town council employee,a garbage collector.
Siavonga District Commissioner Lovemore Kanyama confirmed that this happened in full view of Siavonga district hospital staffs who were scared of apprehending them for fear of contracting the disease.
Mr Kanyama said it is disappointing that the Cholera patients can escape from the hospital, when the medical personnel were doing their best to enable them gain more strength.
“I expected the patients who are also a couple of kanyelele compound of Siavonga district to appreciate and commend the hospital personnel for taking care of them,” Mr Kanyama said.
“Patients are urged not to escape from the hospital, but to wait until they are fully healed and declared fit,” he said.
Uko…need I talk about politicizing the cholera issue. ..you can see for yourself.
Cholera is more shameful than Aids! In my opinion that couple was running away from discrimination by society. “Siavonga district hospital staffs were scared of apprehending them for fear of contracting the disease…” What do you expect from such staff? I bet they were already sharing the 1st Siavonga cholera case on social media because medical personnel these days have no confidentiality.
Let us for once address this shameful subject – the filthiness of our cities and towns. It is disgusting.
Naine kuti nabutuka. Who in his right mind can tolerate being treated like a leper?
OK, so you support him going back home after being inadequately treated so that he can go and infect his loved ones and others? Isolation during treatment is for our own good.
Bad mentality, that’s how aids spread because of self stigmazation.
Our leaders have been out of touch with the reality on the ground. Our president prefers the skies. I yet have to see his ground agenda.
hahaha,,thus a proper UPND mentality, of ukachema , looking after cattle, a chipeta, leave the couple alone they know how to treAT CHOLERA please, UPND,,,KUZIIMA
lol…..more like the ebola epidemic saga. Probably the poor couple was yearning or needed some privacy for budododo….nkani yaka yena….makani ata ambilwa abaana (issues you do not discuss in the presence of children)…..lol……kiki
Can’t free movement between cities and within localities be discouraged/banned until this scourge is contained? Lives are at great risk here and still allowing people to move willy nilly some even for the sake of wanting to “see” cholera is complicating the fight of containment and eradication! Are proper waste disposal infrastructure and toilets part of the efforts being employed to improve hygiene? Disease yamusalula!
Kikikiki! weird things happen in UPND strongholds
@Ka pushi mumpoto, kwena wansekesha , though your comment sound funny, I think you have a point looking at it critically. There is also the issue of stigmatization which I thing people should be educated on.
Comment:Chorela of the mind
