The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) issued a total of 270,000 Tax Payers Identification Number (TPIN) certificates to applicants in 2017.
ZRA Cooperate Communications Manager Topsy Sikalinda said the authority received over 270, 000 applications from the members of the public but could not issue all of them with TPIN certificates because of some incorrect data on their application forms.
Mr. Sikalinda told ZANIS in an exclusive interview today that this number of 270,000 TPIN certificates that were issued was far beyond the target of 87,000 which ZRA had aimed to achieved in 2017.
He said ZRA receives an average of 1,500 TPIN applications per day.
Mr. Sikalinda added that ZRA was receiving support from banks since having a TPIN is mandatory for every bank account holder.
He has since advised those who have not yet applied for a TPIN to do so before the March 30th 2018 deadline.
In 2016, ZRA issued only 16,000 TPIN certificates.
More agony for Zambian nationals
THAT CONFUSION I SEE AT REVENUE HOUSE UUUMMMMM ,…ZRA NEED TO IMPROVE MWEEEEE.. I SEE LONG QUEUES LIKE WE ARE STILL IN UNIP DAYS…
The lack of proper addresses and reliable post services contributes to all this crowding.
The registration mode is very frustrating why dont you make it easy for people, you should find better and easier way to do this exercise could you please make it easy for everyone. Meanwhile it so complicated that you may not get your goal not because people dont want to register but the event is not for every to manage .
One can register online. Easy and straight forward!
@Nigga Nature, yes you can but it’s not an automated certificate generation process, someone still has to approve the application. My wife’s TPIN hasn’t come out 2 months now, status pending upto now.
Don’t forget, if someone holds the same NRC number as yours Online registration won’t work.
Surely the zra would know how many bank accounts there are in zambia and not be amazed that mire than 87000 applied, this is just a statement to show the IMF that zambia is increasing its tax base. But how do we ever believe figures from govt and its departments.
Complaining about queues when everything can be done online including tax remittance. Pay online !!!! Fools. I’ve warned my accountant about leaving his office to go and waste time standing in line at ZRA all day long. He has not done it in the last two years. I think we are just a useless people.
Case in point: I went to east point in kabwata for a drink. Found a long snaking line of people trying to purchase electricity units at 20hrs. Yet one can purchase units via you mobile phone on all networks at anytime anywhere. Yet some obviously upnd Vermins on the line were complaining that government should do something about this. Classic upnd idiocy.
Be very careful if u give your TPIN to the banks… ZRA is Planning to get your hard earned money.
this is not rocket science…its for all to see…
I applied in November but up to now am told it’s not yet ready.
Z.r.a must not play with peoples minds
I am already compliant with this law. Knowing that I have nothing to hide because I did not use a “BRILLIANT” idea to have the little that I own. Brilliant ideas when not known what they are may lead to suspicion.
