Where did the money for drainage go, we need to get a refund from whoever was doing those drianges
Which money? Or you just believe there was some money? Please specific, too much kukamba kamba (gossip) these days without substantiating. Ndiye nkani zamukachasu izi… wanting to talk issues but no facts at all thereby ending up rendering serious issues unimportant. 🙁
Lyose ilyi libala…..what a shame that we have reached this level of abnormality turned into normalcy by pf leadership.
THIS IS NOTHING NEW. WE HAD IT LAST YEAR AND WE WILL HAVE IT NEXT YEAR.
Money finished on the firetrucks.
What surprises me is that the US has pumped over half billion in sanitation and drainage project for Lusaka and they are a success…my question is where is money that was already budgeted for this sector? Do you just misappropriate the funds elsewhere because you have received a handout?
The picture look like they were taken in a sh!thole country.
Now imagine the effect on a flooded sh1thole. Watch as the cholera cases start going up agian…
ALL YOU BRAINLESS CHAPS, WHAT YOU SHOULS BE DISCUSSING OR BLAMING THE GOVERNMENTS (NOT ONLY PF BECAUSE FLOOD IN ZAMBIA ARE AS OLD AS ZAMBIA ITSELF) ON WHY UP TO DATE GIGANTIC DAMS HAVE NEVER BEEN BUILD OUTSIDE CITIES WHERE THESE RAIN WATERS WOULD HAVE BEEN COLLECTED AND UTILISED ECONOMICALLY AND INDUSTRIALLY. YOU SHOULD ALSO BE BLAMING ALL RELIGIOUS ORGANISATIONS FOR HAVING PRAYED FOR THE RAINS AND NOT SERIOUSLY ADVISED THE GOVERNMENT(S) TO START THE STRATEGIC CONSTRUCTION OF DAM AS THERE WILL BE EXTRA-ORDINARILY HEAVIER DOWNPOURS OF RAINS. BECAUSE, THIS MEAN THE CHURCHES JUST SAW IT AS AN OPPORTUNITY FOR CONDUCTING PRAYERS TO COLLECT MORE TYTHES AND OTHER DONATIONS TO FATTEN THE PREACHERS POCKETS. THEY NEVER BELIEVED IN GOD BLESSING THE COUNTRY WITH THE RAINS AT ALL.
Work on drainage still on going. Twenty years of MMD rubbish cannot be cleared within five years.
– Year in year out, Lusaka will be flooded, yet people will be surprised that its flooded
– Year in year out Soweto market will have that black mud during rainy season
– Year in year out funds will be pumped to fix this dilemma, but that money will be used to build mansions & purchase 4x4s few a few individuals
As long as VISION-LESS leader Lungu encourages them to steal, nothing will change in this cursed country.
The Lungu govt cleared the rd side shacks & trash to eliminate cholera but in the process blocked the drains …which brought these floods.
He will now direct ZNS to do the drainage for free to paper the cracks of his corrupt govt…if its not for US tax dollars it could have been worse!!
Ubomba mwibala ali liila kumo nembuto hence such poor drainage in Lusaka
And thy are spending $1.2 billion on laying tarmac from Ndola to Lusaka…ask them why its high? They say the road will have hotels along it…meanwhile in the capital there is zero drainage.
Cholera will come back if we don’t do anything the drainages.
I think we don’t need to go to Mongu to cerebrate Kuomboka year. These floods are enough to fulfill the definition of Kuomboka. All we need is to name one side of the road Lialui and another Limulunga.
During the dry season you were busy drinking chibuku and dancing to rhumba music…now the rain falls you start talking about drainage…really laughable.
This was the prediction of the Metrology Department; they said “ZAMBIA WILL HAVE NORMAL TO ABOVE NORMAL RAINFALL”.
This is just a part of the above normal rainfall. I only wish that they should also have warned farmers that we will also face some sporadic drought periods IN CERTAIN PART OF THE COUNTRY – and these droughts are a recipe for these ABOVE NORMAL RAINFALLS.
Where are the Engineers?
To do what? Pali chinsimbi chagomoka apa?
Engineers to do what? When toilet is blocked do you call an Engineer…this is what happens when you have incompetent corrupt leaders in power…wait for it Lazy Lungu will give LCC 20 days to clear blocked drainage then create a Task Force headed by the selfsame Minister of Local Gov’t.
I thought they were cleaning the City during cholera disaster period that include the cleaning & unblocking
some drainages? Anyway!!!!!
PF govt should get priority right. Some of the road links projects should be halted until some basic issues like drainage in major cities are sorted out. Flooding cannot be a natural phenomena year in and out. It shows there is no leadership. After all, most our population now lives in cities. Fix the cities first.
Meanwhile PF Party itself is doing very well even opening up a regional office in Copperbelt at our expense whilst the hardworking taxpayers are forced to pay someone to carry them on their back to cross a public road like that lady in the photo.
Fyonse Pf. Now Pf is in heaven to bring so much foolish think
RAIN
You foooools prayed for rain last week but didnt know what to do with it….really laughable…just the excess paid for those Wheelbarrows you call fire engines would have sorted this issue but again corruption has come to bite you docile masses …this the price for corruption $1.2 billion on a 300 Km road when the is zero drainage in the Capital City. You would rather build hotels and shopping malls.
Did I see reports of serious flooding recently in parts of the US, or my memory failing me?
There is a big difference between flooding and heavy rainfall where the water has no where to go due to poor drainage!!
This is lazy reporting. How can all the pictures be captioned “Flooding in some parts of Lusaka?”
We fought Cholera using a gun. We shall fight floods using a gumboot.
This is all water that could be channeled to water reservoirs and used for irrigation in out of town co-op farms!!
This is the only sensible thread on this topic. In addition this water is filling up our reservoirs for power generation minimising the likelihood of load shedding.
Tells you that PF and PF mayor are still sleeping. No leadership
Lusaka is not new it has been there same drainage system has been there. We must ask ourselves how we has disposed of garbage especially polythene materials. We have nearly everything wrapped in plastics when we buy things which we through about and end up in drains. After all this careless garbage handling then it is government.
I went to Rwanda just at Kigali airport I was made to leave all plastics which I had with me. Their city is clean and people’s minds are now tuned to maintain cleanliness.
After that cholera cleanup let’s maintain the positive attitude towards garbage disposal.
These are the type of posts I love reading @ Oviziba! Not these digruntled elements full of negative energies! These drainage systems have been blocked by man’s own carelessly dumping of gabbage! Fima ntemba everywhere created all this mess! Baf*kala criticism yenu yachita over! Pa last you will say ati ba PF banadya ndalama za mvula! Malabiahi yanu!
Oviziba – In Kenya, Plastics are banned as well…on a KLM flight to Nairobi the Dutch air hostess even warn you not take any plastics and to leave them on the plane as its illegal. Banning plastic bags is a good idea as there will more usage of cotton bags and what better way for the Mulungushi Textiles factory to position itself and mass produce cotton carrier bags and other reusable bags.
One Zambia One Nation…. We will never develop this country
this will be repeated year in year out..
we have No plan for anything..The country has really gone to the ?????
Get ready for another round of Cholera.
May all night clubs flood as well. Amen.
I lived in Lusaka from 1987 to 1995 and it has been the same year in year out. What Lusaka needs are underground drainage pipes period.
Mwandi, muli nchito mu Zambia. Masobela all over. How can we be going through the same s&$t year in & year out & no one is doing anything about it? Hey council & boma, wake the f%$k up
Bad town planning leads to this flooding. Google map Lusaka and you will see that since independence there has been sprawling building without providing easement for laying pipes and lines for amenities such as sewerage, water, drainage, electricity etc. This means cholera outbreaks will be back. Shanty compounds will need a lot of money to upgrade for the future. This is what happens when ignorant people are given the authority to allocate plots and building permits without mapping easement for amenities.
Hazaluza Hagain thinks Lungu brought the rains! This happen even in US where they have good drainages! Losers! Ignorance is so high in the tribal party!
Shut up hule.
We were told money for Lusaka drainages was put aside by the government. Then we also received a handout from the US government. Looks like its only US money working now and our own money is in some pockets. I need my leave days money also. Its my entitlement!
Disaster!
In Zambia everything is politics ,no rain we politicize, heavy rain politics,October too much heat cholera it is Edger ,Army worms Edger,Sewer problems Edger …..it cant reap you any good results in talking too much bring issues ,even Sata was opposing were necessary.Talking too much can not make you a leader …….
The problem of poor drainage to a greater extent due to poor engineering solutions in Road designs .This is all due to greediness of money by engineers ( RDA ) by not wanting other proffessions to be involved in road design solutions and yet they have lamentably failed .The life span of roads designed by our zambian engineers is on average 3 years after which Government has to attend to the same road. Roads in our neighbouring countries are lasting far longer. It is time Government involved other design proffessions in the construction industry for our common good , otherwise this problem will never go away.
UPND: “It is Lungu’s fault that it also snowed in Lusaka last year!” Dull and ignorant party. Sorry! Tribal!
The problem with Zambia is that the sense of shame is not there. Zambians are not a proud people. This basically extends to just about all black people in the world. No one wants to create. That is why Zambian cities are ugly. Like many other African cities. Nothing a black man touches seem to prosper.
Where did the money for drainage go, we need to get a refund from whoever was doing those drianges
