Zambia Airports Corporation records 12.4 % rise in passenger numbers in first quarter

Zambia Airports Corporation Limited says it recorded a positive growth for the first quarter of 2018 with 413,961 general passenger movements.

Communications and Brand Manager Mweemba Sikaulu says passenger numbers increased by 12.4% when compared to the same period last.

Ms Sikaulu says international passenger movements grew by 8.4% from 320,185 passengers in the first quarter of 2017 to 347,232 passengers in the first quarter of 2018.

She adds that 66,729 domestic passengers passed through the airports in comparison to 48,198 in the first quarter of 2017 resulting in an increase of 34.4%.

She states that similarly international passenger movements grew by 8.4% from 320,185 passengers in the first quarter of 2017 to 347,232 passengers in the first quarter of 2018.

And Ms Sikaulu says during the first quarter of 2018, a total of 10,833 aircraft movements were recorded in the four designated airports namely Kenneth Kaunda,Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe,Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula and Mfuwe International Airports.

She also disclosed that cargo movement increased by 22.3% in the first quarter of 2018 when compared to the same period last year.

  1. Are we close to catching up with Nairobi’s JKIA and Addis Ababa airports? I won’t even try Jo’burg or Cape Town .

  2. Can you get rid of traffic check point on the road to the airport too much inconvenience and make that road a dual carriage way…..

  3. If we had more money in our pockets, as we were once promised, we would take that number to 95%! But noooo… Lets buy unnecessary fire trucks and build mansions in foreign countries, not mention spend our hard earned tax payers money to fund elections for the ruling party…oh and make Zambia a free take all for foreign investors, our businesses are struggling competing with foreign big brands so no profit, we are unemployed, get paid peanuts… sorry airports co. most of us can only afford busses and hiking.

    It quoted finance and economic development minister Patrick Chinamasa as saying the project, which had been #ratified by #parliament and would commence soon, would restore Zimbabwe and Harare’s position as an international and regional hub.

    • Yes Vic falls airport pumping ,up to 14 flights a day and Livingstone airport lucky to have 2 international flights a day, sometimes 3 .Big white elephant even domestic flights 3 or so a day. no promotion and no marketing to airlines by airports agency to land on Livingstone side. Big Joke. Noted they didn’t give brake down on Stats of each airport

  6. Unfortunately employees are the lowest paid who work for Zambia airports corporation what are they boasting about too much nepotism they are employing their relatives every month. Write a salary advance it will take 2 months to get it.if you want to prove this ask any employee who is working at zacl or herself mwembe sikaulu.employees are highly demotivated.
    There are resignationsome almost every month let her dispute if I’m cheating there are very poor working conditions.
