Caristo Chitamfya Snr, the father to late radio personality Caristo Chitamfya Jr aka Caristo Clear aka ‘Mr Lip Pose’ has said he will choose light over darkness in dealing with his son’s death.
Presenting his tribute during a funeral service held at Lusaka’s Northmead Assembly this morning (Monday July 2nd), Mr Chitamfya said he will not dwell on the negative stories that are being used to malign his son’s death on social media platforms but concentrate on the positive side which is the light.
“Do I choose the dark? (in this situation), I will choose light, the positive side because light defeats darkness,” Mr Chitamfya said, admitting that it was really hard for a father who has lost a son to find a word to describe the loss.
“It’s hard to find a word in any language to describe a father who has lost a son, because when you lose a son as a father, you feel you are the one to blame, you feel there’s something you could have done to prevent it,” he said.
He described his son as one who came from a humble background and worked very hard to achieve what he achieved in a short time.
“Fortunately my son had something in him, in 24 years, he did what I couldn’t achieve in my entire life, ” he said, in acknowledging his son’s impact and contribution to the entertainment industry in Zambia.
And late Caristo’s mother said she has lost a friend in her son whom she will find hard to live without.
“I’ve lost a friend, it will be hard to live without you. Who will understand and spoil me? Your demise has left me weak. You appreciated me. You achieved a lot, thank you for making me a proud mother,” she said in a tribute read on her behalf.
Meanwhile, Zambia Association of Musicians(ZAM) has described the late Caristo as an integral part of Zambian music who showed love and support to the industry.
ZAM president Tivo Shikapwasha said though not a member of ZAM, Caristo’s contribution to the industry was huge and born out of love.
“Caristo was an integral part of Zambian music, he was a loving person. He has left a lesson of love. He believed in musicians, he believed in all of us,” said the visibly grief-striken Tivo.
Others who shared their tributes include musicians B-Flow and Ruff Kid, Radio presenters Roxy, Showster and Chali as well as National Arts Council chairperson.

The father is clearly hurting, but should refrain from throwing punches at this time.
The son was a “public” figure, so people will naturally comment on his ‘untimely’ death.
If the cause of death was reckless driving while intoxicated, this can be used positively to educate others.
I pray God comforts all affected.
Mushota it is news because he was a Zambian celebrity where as you are an immigrant with a fake PHD.
@Nostradamus
Condolences! I see in times of problems, your family works together, I saw Jason kabanana, miles sampa, sata mulenga, ka Tayali,,,, ba GBM like always he came through with help,,,,,
Am just disappointed with miles, he came in a PF/lungu t-shirt
I thought you had a PHD in s..king white d..ks.
Iwe Ka Mushota Ga1u yamunthu, Caristo j.r. achieved more than you will ever do as an A.I.D.S / Syphillis afflicted prostitute.
The A.I.D.S you brought from Chingola, is being passed on unwittingly to the population of Glasgow.
Stop your Syphillis rants &; just die, as you will do everyone a big favour.
Condolences to Caristo S.R, & R.I.P Caristo J.R.
@ndobo, Boyi nachibipa we have lost champion
@1.1 the father did well to speak. It was the right platform. His dead son is being subjected to horrible rumors and innuendo, wouldn’t you speak if you were in his shoes?
I still insist blame God.This is why I always tell you that God is jerk. The Bible says, “You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book!” [Psalm 139:16].So God knew (he is omniscient) this young man Caristo Jnr was going to die in the car accident but he could do nothing to prevent the mayhem instead remained hidden in the name of giving us free will and choice. If God really exits then he is evil bcoz him being omnipotent (all-powerful) & omniscient (all-knowing) he would used his “divine” intervention but bcoz he is imaginary no help was given to prevent the accident and including so many accidents during the long holiday.
@******* **** you are not worth the space you occupy if you will blame everybody but you for the consequences of your God given right of choice…. This is a definition of a jerk. Please get your head out of you *******
Why should we blame someone you clearly say doesn’t exist? Your rankings clear show you are a demented soul trying hard to convince yourself you are intelligent when the the contrary is true of you. Psalm 14:1
You interpretation of my points is predisposed which is simply the copulation of ignorance with stupidity. Read it again and get some logic.I won’t argue with you I may just expose your level of understanding things.
@ Czar… Here is your verse: Psalm 14:1 “The fool says in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, their deeds are vile; there is no one who does good. ”
So you see how dull and ignorant you are ? Read Matthew 5:22 (NIV) ”But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to a brother or sister, ‘Raca,’ iis answerable to the court. And anyone who says, ‘You f00l!’ will be in danger of the fire of hell.
In short your bible say you will be “fire of Hell” for calling me a f00l.You see how stupid and contradictory your bible is?

Everyone has their own opinion and it is interesting to know what others think, like in the case of ******* ****. I would like to see the responses also being quoted likewise. Its a pity people always resort to insults instead of addressing the discussion only.
Condolences Caristo, Sr.
Demonic @****, evil!
“Caristo Chitamfya Jr died in a traffic accident when his Mercedes Benz crashed into a light truck last week.”
You make it look like the Light Truck was at fault…why can’t you call a spade a spade..accident happened in the early morning and the boy was over-speeding and misjudged distance was possibly driving whilst drunk. This is the boy who used drop bible verses left right and centre.
MHSRIP!!
Tell them
Just a question. Are people who drop bible verses not supposed to drink?
@Ndeipushafye
They can drink wisely….meaning if driving then no drinking but if they drink then no driving! As simple as that!
Ndeipushafye – if you are going to preaching anything to people and radio listeners you should also act accordingly and not endanger lives of other road users…I know its too much to ask from a 24 year old lad.
Mr P*** ,how do you blame God on the life he gave you to live with your own choices.
Indeed your lack of biblical wise interpretation confirms that a fool will say there is no God.
Be wise my brother God has given you this life and he awaits to judge you for your choices as he allows you to choose between life and death.
Caristo senior should now use his grief to crusade against drunk driving which will save lives in memory of his son caristo junior.
Yes, Caristo Sr should assist the Police (permit them to use photos) in the campaign to curb down on drink drinking and encourage wearing seat belts which the deceased had not done judging by the those photos on social media which I regret seeing. In Zambia its common to drink yourselves legless and jump behind the wheel.
#5 jj, maybe I should grudgingly agree with you, after all Mr Chitamfya Snr said that “his son was a victim of success…..”. Sounds like acquisition of a Merc was the symbol of success!!!! A Merc whose speed you can’t even manage is the same as acquiring quick death!! Sorry I don’t like the tone of this “poor” father at the funeral of his “rich” son.
By the way, is Caristo Snr from Mununga? There everything is seen from the viewpoint of witchcraft!
Condolences to Mr Chitamfya and family. I empathize with your loss. I have lost a son before. You are very right about feeling guilty. The feeling that you should have done something to prevent the loss. With constant prayer you will overcome the grief. God almighty has the key to life and death. Faith in him is what will bring about closure. I am touched because we share the same roots. I remember taking a picture in the village at church and in it is the late’s Grand Mother, My Mum and others. I still have the picture in my collection. In addition, Mr Chitamfya Snr was my late Sister’s workmmate a some point in time. May the late Lupupa’s Soul rest in eternal peace.
We’ll miss you man!
Effect of operating a vehicle while intoxicated ( OWI) or driving under the influence ( DUI) it impairs the mental judgement.
Driving under the influence + over speeding + not buckled up + faulty vehicle (I didn’t see any inflated airbags) = R.l.P
Air bags don’t do s.h.i.t if the impact is massive. MHSRIP.
what ever was said as to what happened and the young man being a SATANIST no body is a JUDGE EXCEPT God , the young man is no more lets mourn him with dignity no blame game only God knows.
