President Edgar Lungu has called for discipline and loyalty among military personal in order for them to service the country diligently.
President Lungu notes that it is vital for the defence forces to uphold the highest level of discipline in their execution of their duties, as prescribed in the laws of the country.
The Head of State said this at State House this morning, during a swearing in ceremony, for the Deputy Army Commander Major General Dennis Alibuzwi.
Mr. Lungu observed with concern that some military personal are lacking discipline, a situation he said should be corrected by the Army command.
He directed Major General Alibuzwi to ensure that timely disciplinary action is done on officers that commit an offence.
And President Lungu has reiterated that the Zambia Army is known for its discipline, adding that he has no doubt that the newly sworn in Deputy Army Command will not fail in his duties and will help maintain discipline in the Army.
He also encouraged Major General Alibuzwi to work hard towards the various reforms aimed at improving service delivery in the Army.
And Maj Gen. Alibuzwi says discipline is important in the Army as it is a corner stone for effective operations.
He stated that this is why he will continue to abide by the laid down procedures set out in the laws of Zambia, during his execution of duties.
The Deputy Army Commander further notes that he will work closely with the Army Commander Brigadier General William Sikazwe to ensure that discipline is maintained at all levels.
Major General Alibuzwi who until his appointment was in charge of operations, takes over from Major General Jackson Miti who was relieved of his duties last Friday.
What is the military man on the right doing? Lungu is just another human being, man. It’s not like he needs to be worshipped, is it?
We need discipline at State House first. Kaizer Zulu and Amos are uninspiring. Perhaps Edgar should start from there.
The inference that those fired are not loyal or lack discipline is unfair.
Is there discipline in state house?
Kaizer, Freedom, Sunday, Lungu etc. etc. are not an example of disciplined public servants.
Discipline is fine, Loyalty is not fine Mr President.
Loyalty will compromise the execution of their duties.
It might imply loyalty to yourself.
I am not happy
I hold a PhD
Thanks

Lungu is looking a his belly saying lokk at me ,’ ningikuta bad nabikapo naka wine not the chawama style .
That is indiscipline. The military does not think like you do.
Lungu is looking at his full belly saying look at me ,’ ningikuta bad kind nabikapo naka wine not the chawama style .All these army commanders are very unfit because they are busy eating with these kelenkas and sharing land belonging to the ministry of defence with politicians .They can’t event run 2 miles .
Don’t they have right sizes for trousers in the military? Look at what the Army commander is wearing!!
@danielle
Can you not see that it may be a case of having wiry legs supporting a huge waistline requiring a bigger pair of trousers! It is possible that if he looks for a pair of trousers fitting his wiry legs, it may not fit his bigger waistline. I hope you get what I am saying.
@danielle,
You should probably look at the man’s seemingly smaller chicken drumstick-like arms to appreciate the size of his legs. That aside, you are talking here about a Lt-Gen. Never mind the size of his trousers.
@Danielle and that is the point. If we cannot synchronise the body of people who work around the final authority of the country, how do we expect the affairs of the nation to be managed diligently?
I mean synchronise the body with the cloth. That wastage of cloth will just be extended wastage of the government resources probably by a million fold!
People are judged on their actions, not their words.
Can we also have discipline when it comes to running the country? Or when it comes to accruing public debt?
The President is not disciplined and how do you expect his subjects to be disciplined? Ubomba mwibala, alya mwibala.
What is that Military Personal in the headline?
Lungu just hammer the nail on its head, go straight to the point, whats the problem?
Loyalty to who or what, president or country?
Percy Chato(former prisons commissioner), Eric Chimese(former ZAF commander) and Paul Mihova(former Army commander) look younger than the ZNS commandant(Nathan Mulenga). So it is obvious they(Chato, Chimese and Mihova) must have done something wrong. So General Nathan Mulenga must be saying in his heart that “I’m obviously the next one to go”
Presidential Affairs Minister: Mr. Freedom Sikazwe. Zambia Army Commander: Lt Gen William Sikazwe
Loyalty should be aligned to the protection of the constitutional requirement. Not personal agenda. We don’t want a Musevemi, Kabila or Kagame agenda of wa mu yaayaya arrangement in Zambia.
All these army commanders are very unfit and cannot even run two miles to say the least because they are busy eating with politicians and sharing plots on land belonging to the ministry of defense .
Their utmost loyalty should be to the Zambian republic and its constitution. Anything else is water under the bridge.
