Lusaka Province Minister Bowman Lusambo has urged mobile money service providers to ensure their agents are conducting business in a clean and conducive environment.
Mr. Lusambo said the Lusaka City Council in liaison with mobile service providers will ensure that mobile money agents are doing their business in a systematic manner in designated places across the city.
The Provincial minister said this during a stakeholders meeting held with representatives from Lusaka City Council, Zamtel, MTN, and Airtel.
Mr. Lusambo said the meeting was necessitated to review the required operational regulations for the location of booths and kiosks dotted around the capital city.
And Mr Lusambo has directed the service providers to ensure that all their booths and kiosks operating in the city comply with the regulations laid down by the local authority.
He also directed the local authority to update their database by including all mobile money agents for easy collection of levy.
Speaking earlier, both Directors for Airtel Money, James Chona and Zamtel Acting Corporate Communications Manager, Changwe Kabwe commended government and the local authority for amicably handling the matter.
The duo assured government that their mobile money agents will comply with the operational regulations as laid down by the Lusaka City Council.
