UPND President Hakainde Hichilema says late Vice President Lupando Mwape served the country diligently adding that his works must live on.

The late Mr Mwape will be buried today at Memorial Park after a requiem mass at Jesus the Child Cathedral in Lusaka.

He died in South Africa after an illness.

And Mr Hichilema has encouraged the family of the late Mr Mwape to remain strong adding that they together with the Nation must carry on the vision that he had.

“Hon. Mwape served our country during the Mwanawasa led government and we shall remember him for that but most importantly that we must carry on his wish for a better Zambia. Only God gives and takes life, and therefore , we thank God for the time we shared with our brother,” Mr Hichilema said.

And UPND Vice President Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba says the late republican vice president dedicated his life to humanity including when he was a law maker in Lukasha constituency of Northern province.

The two leaders were speaking in Lusaka on Sunday after visiting the funeral house of late former Vice President.

  1. Augustine Lupando Mwape.May His Sould Rest In Peace. He was indeed a man of humility and was never rough with his political opponents.

    • By tradition Catholics do not dress in black when morning the dead, the reason is simple, we are celebrating the life of a believer (Mr. Mwape) and black does not symbolise celebration but complete death itself. Instead we wore white garments just like on baptism, first communion, confirmation or the brides wedding attire. Take note you Catholics GBM and Silvia Masebo at least I have seen Mucheleka in white that how it supposed to be. Rest in Peace Lupando Augustine Katoloshe Mwape.

Yes Lupando was humble. How about you? You did not want to serve under Sata but vice versa….uuuhhmm

    • Mwanawasa beat him, RB beat him, Sata beat him, Lungu beat him in 2015 and again in 2016. So which “best” are you referring to? Your hakainde is a reject

  4. We always say “that cow produced a lot of milk ” only after its dead ,so to speak. Lupando Mwape should’ve been praised by all these folks when he was still alive.

  5. UPND and PF vitenge interacting and all in peace and harmony. That is what we want to see in our every day lives. People must assemble freely and mingle even as different political parties. Civilisation must also quickly reach this country for opposition parties to be allowed to assemble, stone age tactics of abusing the public order act must stop. A leader must emerge and tell those abusing the public order act to stop immediately. Public order act does not require submissions from any body to be amended. It just requires common sense
