Some opposition political parties and an NGO have charged that it was mediocrity of the highest order and a show of irresponsibility for Former Lusaka Archbishop Telesphore Mpundu to incite people to rise against each other in 2021.

Commenting on Bishop Mpundu’s statement that the PF had legalised theft and that the 2021 general elections will be bloody if the breakdown in law and order continued, ZRP leader Wright Musoma, NCP president Peter Chanda, and Zambian DNA spokesperson Spuki Mulemwa said Bishop Mpundu had gone berserk.

Mr. Musoma said it was no longer a secret that Bishop Mpundu was a UPND cadre and that the violence he was proposing ahead of the 2021 elections was from the “UPND textbook” on how the party intended to tackle the polls. “Bishop Mpundu is just failing to tell people that his preferred man, Hakainde Hichilema and the UPND are headed for a defeat but have to incite people so that they can hide their shame in political violence when they lose.

“He is speaking like that because he has realised that there is no life in the UPND and his hopes of seeing Mr. Hichilema inaugurated as Republican President are dwindling. “Such kind of utterances amount to mediocrity, insincerity, and irresponsibility on the part of the man who should have been preaching peace and national building. That violence and chaos he is talking about only exists in his head but that is what happens when the clergy have been turned into cadres,” Mr. Musoma said.

And Mr. Chanda said the Pope had been vindicated for dropping Bishop Mpundu as he would have set the country on fire if he had continued on his position.

“It now makes a lot of sense why the Pope dropped this man because if he continued on his position, the UPND would not only have sponsored violence, but would have received backing propagated through church members by Bishop Mpundu. Bishop Mpundu is becoming a danger to this country and his dismissal was timely. “It is sad men of collar who should rise above partisan politics are meddling into cadereism. My appeal to the Bishop is that he must spend his retirement time at home quietly because if he puts himself on the wrong side of the law, he may end up spending the rest of his life in jail,” Mr. Chanda said.

Meanwhile, Mr. Mulemwa said there was no breakdown in the rule of law because if that was the case, some senior government officials who were in court facing various offences would not have been in that situation as the State would have protected them.

“As Zambia DNA, we wish to put it on record that there has never been a breakdown of law and order in this country. The government, which was democratically elected by the Zambians, has put the rule of law and justice for all, high on its agenda and so, Bishop Mpundu must stop inciting falsehood by agitating for violence,” Mr. Mulemwa said.

    • If violence is going to erupt, it will be in Southern Province just like it happened the last elections. No one in any other part of Zambia is willing to lose life over the Delusional Dictator HH. Let them eat their own and it will be rightfully deserved because these people(Tongas)are like a cult!

    • The Bishop is right . Take heed . Edgar is a Commander in Chief who has lamentably failed to curb cadre violence, primarily because he thinks it brings votes to PF!

    • I have heard of singer Spuki Mulemwa, I will delete his music tonight. But never heard of other hyenas insulting the Bishop.
PF need be careful of their path to abandon churches.

    • That is not a shopped photo. The bishop emeritus attended the Unpatriotic Party for National Destruction or Upnd 20 years celebrations. The photo says it all the former priest is an ardent cadre of the Upnd. Nothing more to say.

    • Only Tribals will hack each other. Xenophobic tantrums.
Behold, they support this unfortunate phenomenon.
Zambians are better than these tribals.
Zambia is bigger than a grouping of disgraced and disgruntled goons.
      Whacky tri balls.

    • This Mpundu man looks evil…..just look at his face…..kwati ni ndoshi and how did he become an archibishop??????

    • All perpetrators of violence need to be locked up way before elections and we will have peaceful elections thereafter.

Berserk indeed, this man has gone …

  1. Bishop has a right to see things from his perspective and I think he is right going by the happenings in Sesheke. Spuki Mulmwa and the other sponsored people also have a right to speak, fortunately. But at the end of the day, the people of Zambia will judge who is right. I have respect for the Archbishop (ex) Mpundu.

    • Why is it that when someone says something critical of the Upnd or its supporters then that person is sponsored . But when someone like the former priest says some nasty things against the PF then the man is only exercising his constitutional rights. Where is the demarcation for constitutional rights and being sponsored? Also who’s supposed to enjoy these rights? Lastly the priest should be addressing HH if he the Bishop is concerned about violence. It’s not a secret that if you wear a PF shirt etc in Monze etc you are dead man walking. Upnd regalia is freely worn in other provinces. This is what Tresphor should be addressing.

  2. Who doesn’t know that violence in Zambia is championed by lungu. Lungu can’t win a free and fair election. That’s just a fact.so why are these guys disputing a clear fact-simple., Bcoz they live such purposless lives pf takes advantage of that and abuses them. Such pipo are called stooges.wat a pity for pipos sons to live life like that. Chanda musoma mulemwa I pity u my brothers.

    • He has a handful of mps from his region how do you claim he scored higher marks than lungu at national level.

Zambia is NOT just southern province

  3. Gone berserk….!!!! Very accurate, that’s what happens when one who has/had holy spirit decides to walk away from its consul towards human meanderings.

  4. He is losing again but he will declare himself winner and there will be violence and damage to govt property in area he controls

Muchinga. Eastern. Cb. Lupula. Northern. Lusaka. It will be peaceful

  5. It’s laughable to read who has criticized the Archbishop. PF violence is entreched supported by PF police, misreported by ZNBC.
Zambia is truthfully degenerating into a violent state and those denying it are hiding their heads in the sand.

  6. Somehow Priest Mpundu is being used by Father Chilinda , the parish priest at St Ignatius parish in Lsk.

Fr Chilinda likes money and politics too much and he is not happy that the board was dissolved by the president of which Chilinda was part of it.

So Mpundu is just being used here but Chilinda is the man behind the article. This is one example of the concept of “fronting”.

  7. PF did not champion the violence which happened in Namwala after the 2016 general elections. I have never heard hh speak against what took place there.

  8. Tuma namatodes party attacking the man of God I think is the share of wasting time.paid namatodes party means nothing.

  9. Failure to understand English. The Bishop was warning that if certain measures are not put in place, they will be chaos.t is not a secret that PF cadres and UPND cadres have been fighting during election. It is even a shame to accuse the Bishop that is inciting people

  10. Some Opposition Parties are not even known, even their own family members have no pride in associating with them.So these tuma nashalaneka parties have been sponsored to condemn the legitimate right of the Bishop to express his opinion

  11. Comment. if violence occurs in Zambia,it will be ourselves to blame,we talk about it almost everyday, there will be violence , violence….don’t play with violence, in 2021 who ever wins wins..

  12. But some people I don’t know how I can call you,but if it was someone called a prophet, some of the fools would even have started buying his stickers and put them on yo campaign vehicles, whoever has blamed the Bishop should go back to preschools to learn English again, coz he said if some measures are not put in place, its just like a parent telling a child that if that child doesn’t study,he or she will fail and it doesn’t mean the parent has said the child will automatically fail, its up to a child to study…think before u blame someone just because u want to be known by………..

  13. you pf cadres musoma, chanda and spuki mulemwa how much are you being given for you to fail to see rearlity in our country. the most resent one being the sesheke which saw law encnforcers fired for mentaining law and order during by elections. such stupidity should not be entertained. the man you are insulting is merely giving a free advise to the country so that selfish people should not put this country in turmoil.

  14. My advice please is let us not promote or mention the word violence on a public gatherings such as the one the bishop was attending. The other thing is my fellow people who are commenting on this post, ever since violence erupted in Zambia, which province of Zambia is violence happening and why, who during general and min elections. We also need to read what the commission of enquiry on post elections violence has gathered. So please men in white robs or Colla you need to teach and educate people in these prone violence areas the results of violence than supporting them for what will happen after 2021.

  15. Yesterday I wrote that this Mpundu is just like any other but dressed in a robe. I personally witnessed him making racial remarks to the white fathers when he was invited to officiate at the CONFORMATION ceremony where my beautiful wife also was confirmed in our catholic circles. I wondered then if this man had love for them. Now that he is not in the seat, and someone else is, is missing the cash that we donate for the upkeep of the office bearer. It looks like that opposition party whose agenda he is promoting is the one feeding him.

  16. 1. Christian Democratic Party – Dan Pule
    2. New Congress Party – Peter Chanda
    3. Citizens Democratic Party – Robert Mwanza
    4. DNA – Spooky Mulemwa
    5. ZDDM – Edwin Sakala
    6. Zambia Republican Party – Wright Musoma

    PF Extension parties

    • And Mulongoti, Milupi, Sean Tembo etc whose extension are they? Problem with you Upnd you tend to see the speck in the eyes of your rivals. Never at one time has a Upnd member acknowledged that a PF or suspected member was assaulted by Upnd even if the evidence is so evident even a blind person can see.

  17. PF 2021 is coming and your leaders will be flocking to the church begging for votes , respect the word of God Sata used to say”Lesa ni manyotola” You will see

  18. “…the 2021 general elections will be bloody if the breakdown in law and order continued,….”
The Archbishop emeritus ably qualified his point. Only if there is continuation in the breakdown of law and order will there be violence. This means that if all John, Jim and Dick begin to follow the rule of law, there will be no violence. If PF, UPND etc observe the law, there will be no violence. This is what the patric was trying to put across.
