President Edgar Lungu has sent messages of condolences to the families of Former Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services Mike Mulongoti and United Party of National Development (UPND) Katuba Member of Parliament Patricia Mwashingwele who both died this week.
President Lungu has regretted the death of Mr. Mulongoti who served as Minister of Information and Broadcasting Services and Works and Supply portfolios respectively in the Movement for Multi-Party Democracy (MMD) government and died last night at the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) after an illness.
Special Assistant to the President for Press and Public Relations Amos Chanda told a media briefing in Lusaka today that government intervened by evacuating Mr. Mulongoti to South Africa for specialized treatment in January but that Doctors from there recommended that he be brought back and continue receiving treatment within the country after his condition deteriorated.
Mr. Mulongoti who was also opposition People’s Party president, died at UTH after a long battle with cancer.
And Mr. Chanda stated that the Head of State is deeply saddened with the death of the Katuba MP and sent his message of condolences to the UPND party and the family.
He said the President has since wished the bereaved families God’s grace and comfort during this difficult moment.
Mrs.Mwashingwele died yesterday at UTH after an illness
Hypocrites
He is the president of Zambia. As much as he does not like the UPND, he likes the people within. Stop politicking and be gracious.
Are there no mature people who can send a condolence message on behalf of these State House jerks? Why not ask for example Yaluma, Simon Miti or borrow the Cabinet Secretary Kangwa to make that video show?
Even Dora is a better actress than that Facebook sensational you posted there.
The answers have no substance as to disputing the information in the reports and nothing on HOW government is actually ‘taking measures’ to address various fiscal issues. The questions from the journalists are also very poor and non-probing.
Condolences to both families. How does the president “regret “the death of Mr. Mulongoti ? Poor use of the english language. Is it his fault that the man passed away ?
Ni cizungu chamupitani a bwenzi!!
Death sobers up minds and if only the genuineness of sorrow felt could translate into deeper soul searching for unity and harmonious life among the citizenry respecting differences in opinions to engage in healthy discussions.
Different times but to the same destination. My time is yet to come. MHSRIP
