NINE people have been injured after the bus they were on was hit by a Ford Ranger which was being driven by RTSA Chief Executive Officer Zindaba Soko.

The accident occurred on Wednesday around 15:30hrs opposite Lake Petroleum filling station along the Kafue- Lusaka road.

Police Deputy Spokesperson Rae Hamoonga has disclosed to the media in a statement that the accident involved a Ford Ranger Registration BAK 8838 which was being driven by the RTSA boss and a Mitsubishi Rosa registration ABR 3197 which was driven by Bwalya Moto aged 48 years.

Hamoonga said the accident happened when Soko failed to keep to his lane hence hit into the bus which was coming from the opposite direction and injuring nine passengers.

Hamoonga said Soko has since been charged with the offence of careless Driving.

He said the charge will only hold against him after he has paid Admission of Guilty within Seven days and that if he doesn’t, then the matter will go to Court.

  1. And in today’s reality, he gets to keep his job. Welcome to the real Africa. Or can we add it to the bucket challenge?

    • He should be fired or just resign on his own simple……and then he should be sued and compensate the injured victims…..

    • Where is Frederick Mubanga? Was he driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Did the RTSA camera Capture the scene. 9 people injured because of the carelessness of a RTSA boss.
Yes he must resign ASAP. Bad example, extremely bad precedence. Balasamwa sana ba RTSA as if they are immune to accidents.

    • Again unless State House direct them to arrest it. That idyott has been as notorious like a baboon for year. Including drunk driving, beating medical doctors. And you remember Edgar saying that most of those positions he has no power to fire them?? Well Chitalu Chilufya fired one of them, who cares if government have to pay him termination dues.
Fire that member of Lusaka thug Zindaba, fire him and close that RTSA.

    • Zambia Christian Nation my foot…in a secular country this man would have been sacked straight away not even suspended.

    • Why is he charged with careless driving and not dangerous driving as a PSV was involved in there…how can he be going to court when he is still the boss of RSTA!!!

    • This is the foo1ishness we have to deal with under Lungu’s corrupt clueless leadership. This foo1 that caused this needless accident is the one who is supposed to be in charge of road safety in Zambia. With a guy like this, are you surprised that there are so many needless road accidents in Zambia? And yet they’ll still let this reckless driver hold on to his driving license and to his job. And more and more innocent Zambians will continue to get hurt in senseless road accidents. Who is supposed to fire this guy? Please fire him.

    • This dangerous driver is ironically the one in charge of road safety in Zambia. It sounds like a joke, but it’s a common thing under clueless Lungu’s leadership. So many ill- qualified people in leadership positions. With a guy like this in charge of road safety, we now understand why there are so many needless accidents in Zambia. And yet this foooool will be allowed to keep his license and his job. Please fire this guy and charge him with dangerous driving.

  2. Take him to the fast track court for offences such as these we hope he was breathlised and his vehicle searched for drugs. As careless driving is now common in Zambia lock him up. He must also be surcharged for damage to GRZ property the ranger and liable for all injury and should any die change the charge to causing death

  3. He is supposed to resign on moral grounds.

But that reality about lungu. Look at chitotela.

LUNGU-MUST-GO together with pf comedians since PF has refused to get rid of lungu

  4. Careless driving for using a wrong lane and causing an accident oh please. I was slapped with dangerous driving just because i reversed in the main road, it was in a residential area mind you

  5. Kikikikiki… guys, Zindaba Soko is only human. This happens to all of us. Especially don’t take it trib.al as “#3 its political” is trying to suggest. I know Trib.al Hacks is on record to hate such names, Chulu, Soko …kikikikiki

I am not aware that the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, resigned his position when recently he caused an RTA in UK whilst driving without a licence. What I know is that he apologised to the victims and he is no longer allowed to drive.

    • Get your facts right Duke of Edinburgh is not the person in charge of road safety in UK secondly prince Phillip NOT charles has no job per se . Thats the problem with Africans we want to compare even when there is no comparison.
      Ubufontini !
Ati he is only human Oh I cant stand such stup!dity!

    • Northerner chizungu mdala! Only human do you understand what that statement means?
Mulebelenga bane don’t just drink beer talk about women and eat vimbombo!
      Read!

    • The Duke of Edinburgh surrendered the driver’s licence on his own to the police, effectively banning himself from driving.
      Just to correct the facts.

  6. We await the never coming resignation. Yes it was an “accident” but this is like the DEC boss being found with illegal drugs. Zindaba was probably on the phone.

  7. Zindaba Soko needs to reflect on his life, he lacks wisdom to head that institution. It’s difficult to sympathize with him even if the accident were genuine because of his wayward lifestyle. He’s most vulgar civil servant I’ve ever encountered, Zindaba can really insult. I still remember the altercation he had with nurses at UTH. Did the police confiscate his firearm? Why does he always move with a gun? He’s not a commissioned officer

  8. Yeah the guy should be dropped from his position. Because he should lead by example. How is he going to charge someone with similar offence? Or to do him a favor since he has children and being the first offence. He should be transferred from Lusaka to rural area that is when the case is disposed of.

  9. That’s what happens when u have a police boss who is also a thief they even have private doctors who manipulate postmortem results to destroy evidence….

  10. Dr. Mushimba……is this man or person FIT to hold this Office or you are waiting for the President to decide on this junior officer……….???

    • But Mushimba was the first to set an example and Solo is just following, except this is a lawless society where suspects are allowed to continue in office, where a President can mislead ministers and get away with it, where ministers can defy Court orders to pay their illegal salaries and allowances and get away with it, the list is increasing and becoming endless.

  11. No one is disputing that soko is human. The same way people demand of pastors to step down when they are caught in sexual and financial scandals which they preach against, is the same Mr Soko should step down. He has no moral right to keep that position. To uphold morality the appointing authority should relieve him of his job if he doesn’t do it himself.

  12. David Beckham has been charged for talking on phone whilst driving in Central London. He loses his license for six months among other things. Zambian RTSA Boss causes an accident and will get away with it because he is a known cadre. Shame on us Zambians.

  13. Failing to keep to his lane at 1530hrs! Was he daydreaming? Anyway, these things can happen to anyone. It was just an accident but very unfortunate that it involved the RTSA boss himself. He should be made to pay for the damage of that bus

  14. In as much as Soko is just human, it is his behavior that people are complaining about. It is not just this issue but many more. I hear even his appointment to this very high position is questionable. what qualifications does he have? Is he the right guy for the job? when employing, employers don’t just look at your skills but attitude too. Its is better to employ someone with a low skill than some with a bad attitude. someone may ask why? with skills, you can send someone for further training but not with attitude. Nothing personal

  15. Dr. Mushimba, Soko’s boss flipped a GRZ vehicle a few months ago and was never charged, reprimanded or punished for wrong doing, Soko is safe! Case closed..

    • Brian Mushimba flipped on his own. Zindaba Soko collided with another vehicle and he was the one in the wrong. You are comparing two different scenarios

  16. careless driving my foot, this is dangerous driving. sembe nise, we could be be paying ma 2500 ku fast track right now.

    • I am only human, too. I found a tractor on highway in a curve, driving at 15 kph. To avoid hitting it, I crossed continuous line cos there was no traffic on other side. I went straight into RTSA trap in the curve and had to cough up k2 500. Did not hit into anything and nobody was injured. My pleas of being only human were rejected on basis law is blind. Worse still, since I am tribal, I committed second crime of trying to argue my case in English! So why should the law be with sight in his case?

  17. Sindaba Soko’s driving is bad.., He once hit me behind in Ndola.Fortunately my car was not damaged. All he could do after the incident was sheepishly produce his ID cards. He likes drink-driving.

  18. He should lead by example, safety enforcer with no clue, let him go, otherwise we will equally stop obeying traffic rules.

  19. The law should be applied fairly. The RTSA boss failed to keep his lane, hit an oncoming bus causing injury to 9 people and then you charge him with careless driving? We must be joking as an nation. Many motorists have been charged with dangerous for simple offenses. What happened to Fast Track?

  20. I am only human, too.

  21. The police officer dealing with this accident must be fired for not giving soko the correct charge of dangerous driving. The officer is corrupt n must both face the law

  22. It is an RTA. Dangerous driving probably would call his position into question.

Even Health Minister is permitted to fart in a meeting.
