25 Zambia Airways cabin crew members have graduated from the Ethiopian Airline Aviation Academy.

The Government of the Republic of Zambia through the Indistrial Development Corporation (IDC) sent the cabin crew for training in various cabin crew professions following the establishment of the national carrier, Zambia Airways.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia , Emmanuel Mwamba said it was envisaged that the trained 25 graduates will fully apply their expertise and experience gained during the intense 3-months training period.

He said their training would also contribute to achieving the Afican Union agenda 2063 aspirations, that seek to improve the aviation sector in Africa.

Mr. Mwamba further said with the coming of the African Continental Free Trade Area , it was expected that intra-Africa trade would expand and air transport would be one of the most efficient means for transportation of goods and services.

He said the airline would boost both tourism and trade as Zambia would have an opportunity to manufacture goods and transport them without challenges across the continent.

Mr. Mwamba said Africa and Zambia, in particular, had the capacity to increase her share of the market in the aviation industry.

Mr. Mwamba said this in a speech read for him by the Charge’d’ Affaires, Mr. John Chisanga.

The Industrial Development Cooperation was represented at the graduation by the Human Resource and Administration Manager, Mrs. Lizzie Mukwasa.

And Ethiopian Aviation Academy Managing Director Solomon Kebere said Ethiopia Aviation Academy continues to be one of the leading training aviation academies in the world.

He said the academy was pleased to partner with the Zambian Government in training its cabin crew members and was looking forward to more partnerships with Zambia Airways.

Out of the 25 students that have graduated; Endson Kayombo emerged as the best student.

  1. I can bet you these are PF cadres, PF cadre related or some special favours were done to get these jobs. Congratulations to them though.

    • But what job will they be doing in Zambia because Zambia Airways is not yet operational, nor has a launch date been set?

      Who will pay their salaries?

These are basic things that should be addressed, and public informed. For all we know, these crew members will not start getting salaries until airline is launched. And that is a bad thing.

Maybe president KZ has plans for those female crew.

    • If Edgar and his govt were cleaver with a vision, which they aren’t , they would have invested in Proflight and Mohagany. Let private sector run the business. PF govt lacks the sophistication needed to run an airline. Just go to ZNBC and other state run companies and see for yourself

    • Is this the joke of the century? They are training cabin crew without an airline. How are these poor kids going to practice the training they have just received? On broom sticks I take it. It would actually been so hilarious if wasn’t this sad.

    • It is sad that any achiever is tagged with being a corrupt PF.
Can’t wait to clean up these PF thugs mwee, can’t wait for 2021.

    • From what I’ve observed in the last 35 years of travelling by air most if not all male flight attendants are all over the world are homosexuals .

  2. When were these positions advertised?
It would be interesting to see the surnames of the so called graduates! Please Zambians, get of the Post Label of HH and UPND as tribal! PF is the Alpha and Omega of Tribalism and Economic Apartheid against fellow Zambian citizens! If KK had created such a segregative environment during our days, most Zambians would not have amounted to anything. Fortunately, it is encouraging how youths in marginalized opposition strongholds have taken up the spirit of becoming real entrepreneurs as opposed to the spoiled cadre tenderpreneurs! Let them be employees while others are becoming real employers!

    • But how dare you paint such a negative picture of your own girls?you are not fair these guys are not going to be beauty pageants but employees.say something not what you saying.just because you were not picked to the jobs,?

  3. This is imbecilic, how can you say that 25 graduate as if you would fail such things its just in service training that comes with the job, 25 employees were sent 25 came back, its not like they were sent to Fort Rucker in Alabama for Helicopter gunship training.
Airlines are shutting down on continent Zambia that does have money is doing the opposite, just to brag that they have an airline. Anyway we told you already but you never wanted to listen.

  4. The down size of having our own National Airline is that it won’t be profitable for the next ten years. Thereafter I would not know how it will be. I wish the money could have been used for electricity generation. Where is the money going to come from for paying Zambia Airways workers. I have been on Profight from Livingstone to Lusaka when the flight was half full. Yes, Zambia has achieved re-establishing the former Airline. But what does it mean for Zambia in terms of viability?

    • When you politely tell someone with facts that the climate is not right to invest in such ventures in Africa but they persist as they think they know better, you leave them. These employees will not be getting paid they will just be surviving on filling cargo with their friends orders from SA.

  5. Bravo for Government to have evolved its Staff Development Fellows (SDF) in Aviation Industry. During the era of Prof. Goma as 1st Zambian Unza VC, the expatriates did NOT like the idea of indigenous Zambians to rise to senior lectureship positions and even senior/Chief Technicians. Prof. Lameck Goma had to resort to quietly send Zambians for studies overseas. It’s a pity some Zambians will not appreciate Govt’s move to train staff to run Zambia Airways. Just a few months ago a South African Minister of Finance (for his lack of political ideology) mocked Zambia for not establishing an Airline like Rwanda. Congrats.

  6. I don’t understand why we Zambians are always against our fellow Zambians and gvt in particular.always negative about everything no looking at th positive side of things this is a one step ahead in th formation of a national airline.lessons hv bn learned bfo on th handling of a national carrier.i hope this time around it will be profitable and highly competitive to other airlines.lets learn to encourage and support our own to make them succeed and grow.

  7. While Kigali welcomed 977,631 passengers in 2018, the new terminal has greater ambitions. It will be designed to accommodate up to 7 million passengers per year (well above the 4.5 million planned with the previous Portuguese partner) and 14 million by 2032.

“We hope that our future airport hub will boost tourism, allowing us to increase our revenues from $150m to $800m in seven years. Bugesera will be a key employer, the aviation sector will need to employ many people to serve the maintenance, cargo, and our company RwandAir” said Clare Akamanzi, executive director of the Rwanda Development Board (RDB).

Qatar owns shares in the Swiss commodity firm Glencore. The latter lent Chad nearly €1.2bn ($1.4bn) in 2014 to buy Chevron’s shares in the consortium that exploits Chadian oil.

  8. Iam very people like (HH)who participated in the sell of companies (privatization)are sad because of such great development

  9. Meant to say… from what I’ve observed in the last 35 years of travelling by air, most, if not all Male flight attendants all over the world are homosexuals.
